The journey into VR
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.VR is absolutely incredible. For like the first week or two, its all I wanted to do. But once the novelty wears off you're left with a very expensive headset, that only plays very expensive games, that are still in a lot of ways experimental.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointed that within the first 2 days of playing the remote locked up and will not release from the closed fist position. Contacted Oculus and it took them a week to respond to my email.

For What It Is, It's Great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a Mobile VR unit, it's a great little device, but it isn't perfect. First, if you're buying this for the Vader Immortal Bundle, don't stress if you can't find one at retail, as these three games are just kind of Meh... If you wait until after the holidays, you will likely find a better bundle than you get here. As far as the headset goes, it's very cool and works phenomenally well. Tracking is very good and much better than the Rift S experience I had a few months ago. Now keep in mind, this is still basically a cellphone with 4 cameras and support for dual controllers. With that said, Vader Immortal certainly shows how much this device can deliver to the screen graphically, even if it isn't a very good game. Of course, if you're like me you're wondering what you can fit on a 64 Gig model vs the 128 Gig Unit. Well, apps tend to be fairly small and usually well under a Gig... Games on the other hand, they tend to be between 3 and 6 Gig each and if you get larger story oriented games, you're going to be going even higher than that (each piece of Vader Immortal was about 3.5 Gigs and it was a very short game play experience). Another thing to note as that the sound isn't great, but it does work well enough for you to hear it. If you have the money, you can also buy a set of headphones to plug into the side of the helmet. As far as build quality goes, it's a very nice and feels solid overall. I have no complaints as to the quality of this headset myself. Battery Life, well, that's good for about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on what you plan to do with the headset. So, you'll likely get through the setup and the 3 Vader games before the unit dies. However, don't expect to get much more than that, as the battery just will not do it and these numbers go down with more WiFi usage (turn it off if you're not playing an online multiplayer based game). So, why only 4 stars? Well, storage and battery life make for a challenging long term experience and I'm sure v2 will have much better battery life as well as much better storage options. If you can live with this limitations you're sure to love the headset!

The Quest is amazing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to start off by commending Oculus for this product. What they've been able to accomplish in an all-in-one VR headset is astonishing. The quest offers 6 degrees of freedom, roomscale tracking, inside out tracking, touch controllers, built in audio and most importantly, no wires! Setup is simple. You need an iOS or Android device to download the Oculus app and setup your Quest for the first time. After that, you will go through various tutorials introducing you to VR. I'll start off with tracking. I own an Oculus Rift that relies on external sensors to track my movement. There's no perceptible difference between the Rift and Quest. They're both very precise. This was honestly the most suprising aspect of the headset. I expected the tracking to be slightly worse, but I was unable to perceive a difference. The Quest offers the same 6 degrees of freedom as the Rift and revamped touch controllers. Oculus recommends a 6.5 x 6.5 playspace. The screen has a resolution of 1600x1440, which is higher than the Rift, and a 72hz refresh rate. I didn't experience motion sickness or felt that the display was blurry. However, this varies from person to person. There's a physical IPD adjusment on the Quest that will work for the majority of people. I was worried that the refresh rate may cause motion sickness coming from the Rift's 90hz display. But it felt nearly as smooth as the Rift. Comfort is comparable to the Rift. It has a nice fabric surrounding the headset and a comfy face pad. I will say though, the headset felt lighter than I expected after adusting it properly. But it is front heavy, so you'll want to make sure the headset is snug but not too tight. The battery life is great too. I was able to get 3 full hours out of it before it died. However, Battery life will depend on what you're doing. The Touch Controllers feel very natural to hold and have a nice texture to them. The battery on the controllers went to 98% after 3 hours, so I expect them to last a long time before replacing the batteries. They require one AA battery in each controller. The touch controllers also have haptic feedback which felt awesome in games like Beat Saber. Lastly, The Oculus Quest uses a Snapdragon 835 for it's processor, which is the same processor you'll find in a smartphone. Consequently, I thought there would be a significant visual downgrade when you compare it to a PC enabled VR headset. So, upon arrival of the Quest, I went through 3 VR titles and compared it to the Oculus Rift. I started with Robo Recall because I expected this one to suffer the most. One of the first things I noticed was the lighting. Buildings, roads, and surrounding objects have what I can describe as a flat look. It's like the difference between matte plastic and glossy plastic. Also, it seems like shadows have been turned off. However, I must say, textures seem to be close to or on par with the Rift. Gameplay is just as great when compared to the Rift as well. Next, I played Super hot VR. This is one of those games where I couldn't find a difference. Everything from lighting, resolution, to texture quality looks on par with the Rift. This may be due to the art style being simpler. The gameplay is great too. Lastly, I played Beat Saber. My findings were the same as Superhot VR. Simpler art styles suit the Quest very well. This is my first time reviewing a product, so there's a probably a lot that I missed, but I felt so compelled to say something. The Quest is amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Good unit however not compatible with google wifi
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit drops wifi constantly. Oculus says google wifi to blame. Zero info on the incompatibility. No info if it will ever be fixed. This is from oculus tech support as of sept 15,2019. Otherwise the system is cool

Good but returned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s cordless and not that heavy as I expected but found stuck dusts. This is common issue so be aware. Playing game won’t bother but when you browsing web or watch it’s noticeable.

A great HMD, hindered by FaceBook.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pleast note. Starting in October, all new Oculus accounts WILL require a FaceBook account to use. Period. They say existing users have another 2 years before they too are forced to use FaceBook for login. But they already lied several times during development. No reason to think they won't again. The HMD itself is great! Excellent price point, and a fantastic entry into VR for most people. But I can't recommend it now to anyone.

I left a review on the oculus Rift accidently
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I accidently left a Review under the Oculus Rift that was intended for this unit. Oops... Read that one. In short I had the GEARVR and that was a better unit for a few reasons.

Amazing device
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm only giving this device a 3 because when I received it one of the controllers did not work and they are out stock so I cant exchange it. Not great
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn’t satisfied with this and ended up returning it. The first one we got stopped working in less than 24 hours. The second one we received, the controllers stopped working after about a month (yes, I tried changing the batteries and the other troubleshooting tips). This product is a great idea and I really wished it would have worked. Right now it seems fairly limited in the games it offers too. Hopefully the newest version will be better.

It's Okay
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an okay headset. The SDE is very high. Screen is not sharp. Better off getting a quest 2 now as it does pretty much everything better.

Great headset but not much content

Best wireless VR system currently available
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oculus Quest was something I’ve been eagerly waiting for. I have tested out Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, and Google Daydream before, and I always thought phone-based VR was not for me. Also, I didn’t want to get a PC and have a tethered system. So Oculus Quest kind of answer my wishes. From physical point of view, the Quest impressed me. The build looks solid, and the soft headset was light enough for me, while it fit my head quite ok. The glass spacer included in the kit was a helpful bonus. The controllers are intuitive and comfortable. As for the actual function of the Quest, I think it does an impressive job. The Home environment was nice, and intro/tutorial did a good job in getting me acclimated. The display was nice and sharp, and though I had to spend some time to get a good fit initially, it was quite good after that. Spending almost an hour or so in each session didn’t feel uncomfortable. The sound is not the best, but does a decent job. I think I’d get the Oculus headphones later on to improve on that. In a quiet room, the volume was adequate for me. Among the different software/games, I tried out Youtube, Netflix, Beat Saber, Journey of the Gods. I didn’t get too excited with the video apps. But boy o boy, Beat Saber is so addictive. I had fun playing Journey of the Gods too. Overall, I really liked the untethered concept of the Oculus Quest, and am impressed by the fact that tracking does not require any separate hardware. The headset it moderate in weight, and comfortable. All in all, it’s a great wireless VR system. I just wish the price point would have been a bit lower.
