It destroyed my mind!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was worth the trouble to get one! I had experience with the HTC Vive, and these is so much better! The tracking is amazing, no lag, no cables, no issues. I had purchased Half-Life Alexy, it’s an amazing experience with the Quest. It has some issues, after a while it gets really uncomfortable

Works great, PC cable recommended
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The charging cable apparently did not let this run with the Oculus Link app at full speed (only USB 2 speed not 3.0 despite using a USB-C connection port on my PC). There are 3rd party USB 3.0 to USB-C cables lots cheaper than Oculus brand and they've worked fine for me and at full data rate. The headset still gives me a bit of a headache from its weight on my face after an hour or so. This tech needs some further design thoughts toward being as comfortable as sunglasses to wear.

Everything I was hoping for and more
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: Buy one, you will love it. I use it almost daily and I get the greatest joy out of sharing it with family and friends. I've used several different VR headsets throughout the last 6-7 years but I've never owned one myself, because I never had a computer or console that could run one. When the Quest was coming out I tempered my expectations, because it runs on a mobile chipset, so obviously it wouldn't be able to run all of the games or have the graphics that a computer powered device would. Regardless, I absolutely love the Quest. Six degrees of freedom with no wires is incredible and the resolution is surprisingly strong for a VR headset. On top of all of that, the advances that companies are making to optimize the visual quality of their games is revolutionary. Developers in this short of a time have already figured out how to make incredible looking games for the system and it's only going to get better. At this pricepoint, the device is just awe-inspiring. If you haven't used VR, give this a try, it's really hard to describe just how awesome it is.

This product is amazing and wish I had purchased it sooner!! It's easy to use and set up. the games and app are affordable. You will have to sign into facebook to use this headset but other than that its a 10/10.

Worth the price tag
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing tracking tech. Massive play space. Great high definition with the OLED screens. Easy to use version of the Oculus store. Only downside for me is the lightness of the controllers. Often feels like if I were to tap them together just a little too hard they might snap.

Amazing!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is waaaaay more fun than I thought it was going to be. My son saved up his birthday and Christmas money for it. Thankfully he lets me play with it too. I highly recommend getting the $79 cable so you can play Steam games too.

Great design
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down this is the best version of the AirPods by Apple. I will go even further to say of current True wireless headphones. The design tops that of all previous versions. The transparency mode is the beat feature I’ve ever encountered on wireless headphones. I have average size ears, so the stem of the AirPods do not past my earlobes. They fit very well. The only draw back is no volume control but that’s not even an issue when you can just say “hey Siri” reduce my volume to 50%. To give you a better vision of the transparency mode; I live near the Ports and an airport. With transparency mode off I can barely hear the horns blowing while I’m outside. With it off it sounds as if nothing is in my ears. If your looking to get any other version of the AirPods it’s my honest opinion spend the extra cash for the pros. Otherwise your going to fine yourself investing in them later anyway.

Pretty Amazing Piece of Tech
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a Rift I was expecting a performance downgrade. From what I can tell everything runs smooth with all the games I’ve tried and the resolution is even crisper than the rift. And of course, untethered play is an absolute game changer. Hoping more people buy so the platform is strongly supported.

Best VR set for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy set up, comfortable, fun exactly what you want in a set of VR goggles. I would definitely buy these again. Everyone in the family wants a set. Great for games, working out, watching movies with people who are no longer nearby. Invest in this set of goggles. ||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had my doubts about spending so much money on a toy but I'm glad I did. What a fantastic device! My wife and I get so immersed that hours go by before we know it! We're in our 60's and can't put the thing down. VR Has come along way
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very impressed by how good the graphics have come in VR technology. This was the only gift my son wanted for Christmas and I see now why he wanted it. The whole family has played on it. Be aware, if you get motion sickness you might want to think twice before strapping the goggles on!

Very fun, no hassle portable VR
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our family is having a great time with the Quest. it is so easy to take in any room and set up a Guardian so that there is room to play. The games have been very fun, the selection is terrific and the hardware works great. I highly recommend the Quest if you are looking to get into some VR gaming.

Easy to use. Wish there were more demo apps.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They provide clear instructions on getting setup. It was a lot of fun for about 2 weeks. The kids used it longer than the adults, though. They can handle the quick shifting games better than we can. It's been about 4 months and it doesn't get used much any more. They are still making new games, but not many of them have demos. It's hard justifying the cost of a game, especially when motion sickness has to be considered, when you can't test it out first.

Love it
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for my son's 17th Birthday and he loves it. I even tried it and think it's really cool. However, if you or your child experience motion sickness, you may want to try one out first before you buy. My son has found some games do in fact make him motion sick but not all.

Wow, this thing is fun!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. That’s all I can say about this headset. I’m new to VR, so maybe I’m more easily impressed than those who are more seasoned. In any event, I am floored by this device. First, I strongly recommend watching the Quest basics YouTube video that Oculus posted online. It covers most topics in great detail and is very well produced. There aren’t any helpful guides included to help get set up, so that video is beyond helpful. My only complaint about setup is that nothing, including the video, shows me how to properly exit and power off the headset after play. It seems simple but if you have nowhere to sit the controllers to take off the headset, it can be a little tricky. I’ve even tried to sit my controllers on virtual shelves in front of me a few times. I know it sounds silly but they are realistic enough that they nearly fooled me on a few occasions until I go used to the headset. The headset fits me perfectly right out of the box. The only prep I had to do was remove any protective packaging, charge the headset, insert the batteries into the remotes, download the Oculus app, create an account and pair the headset to my tablet. After that, I was good to go. Once I got the headset up and running, I was transported to a very realistic and immersive VR environment. Watching a giant VR whale swim across what was once my dining room was easily one of the coolest things I’ve done this year. Watching my dining room turn into a round, cozy hillside bungalow is the second coolest. The headset prompted me to define a play area by drawing an area around myself using the controller. Once the boundary is determined, the headset warns me whenever I approach the edge of the boundaries. This helps prevent accidents and collisions. I do have to be careful when setting boundaries. I normally do okay and play in large spacious areas. I did foolishly set a really small boundary in my bedroom once to play a quick demo. I was standing near some furniture and due to the immersive nature of the game, I ended up swinging the controller too far and hit a dresser. The hit wasn’t hard enough to harm myself or the controller but was enough to alert me that it was a very bad idea to set such a small play area. It won’t be repeated. I also have to be careful with certain games that require a lot of movement. It’s easy to hit the headset with the controllers as well. There aren’t any full games included with the Quest. There are some game demos included, like playable demos for Beat Saber, Creed and a few other games. Beat Saber was a blast and I ultimately purchased it. Creed, on the other hand, had some issues. The biggest issue was my thumb kept accidentally hitting the analog stick which kept abruptly changing my view and led to several easy knockouts by my virtual opponent. Aside from the demos and tutorials, there’s nothing available to actually play competitively until you shop the Oculus store. Game prices aren’t too bad, ranging from free to about thirty bucks for most games. There is enough content available for someone to get started and at least determine whether or not this is a device for them. Anyone considering the Quest can browse the game section of the Oculus store to get an idea of the type and quality games that will be available. The only thing that worries me, quite a bit at that, is the presence of in-app purchases. In-app purchases completely destroyed my interest in smartphone/tablet apps and micro-transactions destroyed my interest in many console games. I’m old school. Not only do I want to only pay once for the full game, I should also be able to beat it through sheer determination, repetition and putting in the work. Making people pay for special powers, costumes, weapons, hidden rewards, extra levels, etc ruins the very essence of gaming. People should have to play to earn all those things rather than being able or (worse) forced to pay extra for them. I can do a lot of extras with this headset. I can play online with friends or strangers. I can also cast my session to a nearby mobile or streaming device. I can also record video of my gaming session or take a screen shot. Recorded footage can be downloaded to a computer via USB although the transfer process is a bit tricky and I was unable to get my Mac to recognize the headset. Maybe it works better on a Win PC. I have no option to transfer video or screen grabs to my tablet via the app. I can also create an avatar for my public profile although I’m not crazy about the avatar feature. The customization options are very limited and not very good. None of the avatars appeal to me and I can’t come remotely close to creating one that even vaguely resembles me. After trying several different avatars, I opted for no avatar at all. That’s how bad they are. Comfort is pretty good during wear. I have a large head, so I thought for sure I’d need to adjust the headset. No adjustment was necessary and the headset fit me right out of the box. My daughter has a smaller head but long thick hair. She had to make some minor adjustments but it fit her as well without much fuss. Despite the front-heavy design, the headset feels comfortable and unnoticeable during wear. The hand controllers are also comfy and it’s pretty cool how they appear in the VR environment along with a cool set of virtual hands. When playing a sports game like Creed, I also get virtual gloves and arms, complete with muscles. Battery life is okay. It's not great but I guess it’s about as good as it can be for a device like this. I can get a few non-consecutive hours of play per charge if I don’t go crazy or have marathon sessions. I haven’t tried using the device with the power cable attached because if I wanted to be tethered, I would have opted for the Rift. I chose the Quest over the Rift because it is wireless. The idea of a family friendly wireless headset was too appealing to pass up. Had I ordered the Rift, only one person in our household would have likely used it, my son. That’s because he’s the only one with a significantly powerful gaming PC. Our other PCs are moderate to slightly high-end. The Quest requires no external device, wires or anything. It’s fully self-contained. For that reason, it’s not as powerful or capable as the Rift but it’s no slouch either. Visually, games are on par with a good tablet or smartphone game and I’m perfectly fine with that. I just want something fun, easy to use, shareable among family members, interesting and entertaining enough to outlast the initial wow factor. The Quest checks all boxes. It may not have the bleeding edge graphics or performance of the Rift but I prefer it over the Rift in the same way people prefer a Wii over a PS4 or Xbox. The Wii isn’t as powerful as the other two consoles but the fun factor and availability to gamers of all ages and abilities is why the Wii has remained so wildly popular among mainstream users and families. Like most devices, the Quest is not perfect. The poor avatars, funky file transfer method and no clear way to exit a session without taking off the headset are about my only cons. I also occasionally get some static from the speakers during play. I’m hoping durability is decent in spite of these very minor glitches. Another thing people have to be careful of is not to use or store the headset in direct sunlight because the sun’s rays can damage the opticals on the headset. That squashed my plans to play out back in a wide area on a nice sunny day. It’s probably for the best. I can only imagine how comical that would have looked to the neighbors. Other than those minor issues, I have no complaints at all and still like this headset very much. The games are not only fun but a good form of light exercise.
