VR is finally here! I have been reading a book called "CTRL ALT Revolt" by Nick Cole that features a blind female protagonist who uses a VR headset with a neural link. This got me thinking again about buying a VR headset. It just so happened that the oculus was on sale for $399 with touch controllers. I couldn't resist. This was my first VR experience aside from one they had at Six Flags when I was a kid. If only I could travel back in time and share this modern experience with that kid! Being far from perfect, the experience that the oculus offers almost completely eclipses any imperfections. If you can afford it and have a computer that can run it, I say get it.

Very well polished setup. Has some quirks as any fledgling technology does. Fun!

Bought this as a family gift. Graphics are good, easy to set up, variety of games available. The only downside is making sure you have a pc or laptop power enough to support.

VR was fun and controllers were well thought out. Game choices seemed somewhat limited, but will likely get better over time. Be careful where you are playing the game. I actually punched the TV at one point during play and put a slight crack in it!

Can't wait until they release a successor. A resolution bump would be helpful.

-I feel like a kid again! From the first moments, to the current ones, I find myself being deeply invested in this platform. The titles included in this bundle add a great value: Robo Recall and Lucky's Tales, mainly. -I bought a third sensor, and I'm playing in a 5'x8'-ish area. It's nice to have 360-degress of tracking. Be sure to clear your play space or you'll punch things, like I did (ouch!). -There may be a gap around your nose, which lets light in and ruins the immersion for some. After adjusting the side and top straps, I've mostly eliminated this issue. -Glasses can be used, but it's not the most comfortable thing. I have thick-framed glasses, and can only play for so long. I'm literally saving my contact lenses for after work, so that I can play more comfortably. -The cord can get tangled, as with any tethered VR headset. I feel like I got a good 30-40 hours of battery life on each controller (thank goodness for Eneloop!). -There is a slight screen-door effect, but it hasn't bothered me much. Once I'm into the game, I don't notice it. -Oculus is owned by Facebook, and that may bother some people. -Being the only VR experience I could pick up in-person, I went with Oculus. -I've had 50+ hours in VR, in the last 3+ weeks. I'm eager to upgrade to a more powerful GPU, when the time comes. -Overall, I recommend this VR headset to any PC gamer looking for the "next thing". The platform has matured over the years, and the games are getting better and better. It's ready to play, right out of the box (well, after installing the software)!

This is the best VR platform I have ever seen. It did not make me motion sick, the lag time is less the 0.5 second so practically real time I could not detect a lag. The game I tried out was so fun, Robo Recall and the physics of it were so fluid. I worked up a sweat playing this thing.

I knew I wanted to get into vr, I just wasn’t sure when or what version, but when the rift’s price dropped it was an easy decision. This thing is fantastic and it is difficult to put into words how immersed you become in the vr world, it just needs to be experienced. The unit itself is comfortable and not cumbersome, though I would suggest upgrading the foam face pad. It isn’t necessary, but it will make the experience even better. A third sensor is a good buy as well as you will want to expand to room scale vr as soon as you try it for the first time. If you are on the fence about getting a vr headset, take the plunge.

Let me preface the review saying that I've been actively using VR in one form or another since the mid 1990's. I went around to a few different locations to try out both the Oculus Rift as well as the HTC Vive. The Rift headset is about on par with the Vive in terms of visual quality and tracking (when calibrated) is dead on as well, however, from personal experience, the hand tracking controllers that come with the Rift are years ahead of the Vive and having the ability to interact with a hand controller that's as close to using your hands as possible is really what the VR world has needed and gets with the Rift.

Even full price, the VR experience is worth the cost and the Touch controllers in my opinion are superior in feel to the HTC Vive's. If you can get it on sale, it's a great deal!

This is a great VR Headset for a first time purchase. Setup was not as difficult as expected, although the sensor placement took a bit longer than expected. Experiencing VR has been very fun, and well worth the price and setup effort!

I remember seeing video clips of VR in action and was not impressed.. that was because I forgot about the whole 3D aspect of it. This was one the best purchases I have made this year as far as entertainment goes. It really immerses you into a whole different reality.

It's a little persnickety. The cables are rather short for most setups, and extending them is hit-or-miss. They, currently have the best controllers and are the cheapest good system on the market. Resolution has a "screen door" look to it; as you can see between the pixels. It also tends to heat up your head a lot. I find I need a cool down break after 1 hour of play. There are very few games out there that are worth playing, much less spending money on it. For the $345 I paid, I am very happy; though I still wish I could have bought a Vive. Games tend to be rather short lived; and there seems very little motivation to expand on them. Robo Recall has about 10 different missions; and then just repeats for score. Bridge Control, has even fewer. So, available content is its biggest weakness. Hardware wise, it is average. I would not pay more than $350 for it again. you will still need a 3rd tracker for 360 play and an aftermarket face pad to make comfortable.

You need to be about 6 feet from the sensors on your desk, so unless you have enough room in front of your computer desk you can't use the "safe area". The response times are great and the quality is awesome. I have the Playstation VR also but this is way better!

I highly recommend to purchase this product from Best Buy. The first Oculus I had purchased as new from Amazon was not new and was obviously used by someone else and went back to them. I asked the Best Buy representative about their open box policy and was advised they have to send their open boxed rifts back due to hygiene. Overall great store experience and additionally demoing the unit in the store was what had helped me choose to purchase the oculus in the first place. This is a great VR experience and the 6 free games are great!

The initial setup was tasking as not much information is available, once the setup was complete it was all down hill from there. Amazing product that has changed the games I use it for on a tremendous level. Would recommend to friends OVER and oVER again..
