    Almost perfect

The controllers are phenomenal, interactions feel lifelike. the tracking system is very accurate, just make sure your sensors are on a stable surface lol... The headset has a very clear image, but doesn't accommodate my glasses very well. I have to take a break every so often because of the pressure on my glasses starts to hurt, unfortunately I can't play without them. Set up took less than an hour, and software installation only another 20 minutes. Many steam games are compatible with the oculus. My first concern is that the sensors don't have a wide enough view angle, reaching for objects on the floor can be difficult, but a third sensor can easily compensate for this. My only other concern is about the headset, if it could better fit my glasses, it would be more worth the money. On another note, if the rift touch came with a forward facing camera, similar to the vive that could help with maneuvering without removing the headset. Definitely satisfied with the purchase otherwise.

Amazing technology, but Eve: Valkyrie is unusable

The Oculus Rift and the Touch controllers are amazing! The motion tracking is incredibly smooth and accurate. It is freaky to look down and see your synthetic hands moving exactly as your real ones are, and even more so to find yourself immersed in a virtual world. One caveat, however: The included Eve: Valkyrie game is unusable; it requires an XBox game controller to accept the EULA right at the beginning, but this Rift bundle does not have such a controller! The game is a useless addition, which is a huge disappointment and the reason I purchased from Best Buy. (Google for Eve Valkyrie Oculus Rift and you'll find the game developer's tech support confirming that the XBox controller is required.)

Works Great if you can get it to work.

So, this product is amazing if you can get it to work, there is a ton of info on reddit about people having USB connection issues. I happened to be one of those people. I got everything set up as explained in the setup process using USB 3.0 ports and the Oculus compatibility check said everything checked out good. Fast forward 30 min and the headset disconnects and shows as a failing device in device manager. The only way I could get the headset to come back was by restarting my computer, but the failed device caused windows to hang while restarting and every time this happens I have to do a hard restart on the computer. So I contact Oculus support and do everything they suggest to no avail, so they suggested that it might be a faulty unit. I decided to return it to best buy instead of deal with shipping since it had only been three days after the purchase date. The new one shows up and while the picture quality was better on the second one for whatever reason, the disconnects continued. Now I have been in the IT field for 10+ years and have A+, Network+, Microsoft and Cisco IT training. So this is not a lack of experience or trying to make something work that should just work out of the box. My computer is a top of the line I7 6700K, 16GB DDR4, GTX 1070 8GB with a Gigabyte motherboard and I have no issues with any other device. In the end of it all I ended up having to install a PCIE USB 3.0 expansion card that receives power from a 4 pin molex connector to have enough power and a dedicated USB 3.0 controller to handle the power and bandwidth requirements for the rift. I just happened to get lucky and the Realtek 4port card I had laying around worked, but there are tons of people on reddit who are using even Oculus recommended cards and still have issues. I offered to do anything support needed to help them diagnose what is causing this issue with my USB controller, but they didn’t seem to want to fix the problem once I had found a work around to the issue. So where yes, where they responded in a timely manner and tried to help, they clearly don’t desire to actually fix a pretty major issue with a $500 piece of hardware. Had this not been 30% off Bringing it down to $350 I would have easily forked out the extra $100 for the HTC and just be done with these kinds of issues. I do feel as though the Rift has some advantages over the Vive but its not worth dealing with these kinds of problems IMO. To be 100% honest if I didn't have those kinds of issues getting it to work correctly then I would have given this product 5 stars, but 3 days troubleshooting and having to install something that is not advertised as being required is a problem.

I have made a great decision choosing the oculus over the htc vive.I have had it for about 2 weeks and have loved every moment of it. today i tried the vive out and found that the oculus has much better controllers and that to me makes a huge impact on the experience. Its cheaper,i personally think its better and love the exclusive games. buy the rift, you wont regret it. but would recommend a extra sensor, still cheaper than vive.

I love love love my Oculus Rift! I was worried I would regret the purchase because of the price but it hasn't crossed my mind once after playing it. The headset is light weight so it doesn't feel like its pulling on your face. Easy to set up with step by step onscreen instructions. Overall, just an amazing thing to experience.

    Great VR set

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Yes I would recommend this VR set to friend with one caveat. If youre buying this set from Best Buy versus other retailers because the additional EVE VALKYRIE game; please keep in mind you won't be able to play without an XBOX controller. The VR set initially included an XBOX controller as well as goggles and touch controllers at the same sale price. The XBOX controller is no longer included. So it is not as good of a bargain now considering you would need to purchase an XBOX controller in order to play the game that Best Buy includes to sweeten this set over other retailers bundles. I thought I was getting controller, but realized after purchase it was not in the bundle. The SKU#/bundle had been changed. I am hoping Best Buy offers a solution. Otherwise the Oculus Rift is a lot of fun. You need to have a decent amount of space (arms length minimum) around you to fully enjoy. The included game Robo Recall is amazing. My system plays it well: I7 processor, 24mb Ram, GTX970.

This is probably the best consumer electronics purchase I have ever made for a computer. It's not perfect, it can be frustrating to set up and maintain the sensor setup in a non-dedicated room (I normally restart and it clears up). When it works, which is 99% of the time, wow. The sense of immersion and depth is incredible. Robo Recall is fantastic (included) and Lone Echo (a for purchase first person adventure) demonstrates where this technology is going. There are more free games that are included. It has also lessened my desire to play 2D games as VR is so much better. I had no idea the ships in Elite Dangerous were incredibly large. $399 is a great price and the fun return on investment is high.

Great system but broken out of the box

I was expecting excellent quality because of all the great reviews etc. Finally bit the bullet and bought it for myself.....Went through the setup process but there was one glaring problem....glaring into my left eye display was vertical stripes shaped that you can notice just by looking at the left lense. On the left display, there are an annoying number of straight lines (8-9 of red, green, pink, and blue) stretching from top to bottom of my field of vision.....after some research it seems like it is faulty connections inside the unit. No fault to BestBuy because it was returned no questions asked. Re-ordered through BestBuy but have to wait a couple more days.......very disappointed in the quality.......I am glad i bought it at Bestbuy rather than directly from Oculus website. SO Glad i did not have to deal with Oculus support which i hear is a tedious and long process.

    The Hype is Real.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Let me start off by relating VR to something most everyone is familiar with, say, a 3D movie/arcade game where everything pops out at you and you can turn your head in awe as you watch 3D objects fly across your face, even getting jump-scared as you might expect them to actually hit you. This is exactly what VR is like, and it is truly amazing. I myself didn't expect VR to be this spectacular. I know it's cliche, but you actually feel like you are in whatever game you are playing, it's just awesome. Everything is 3-dimensional and you can walk around them with great detail. I'm running the Rift on an i5-8600k and a GTX 1070 and every game is buttery smooth on the highest settings, even while live streaming. You do need a beefy computer for the experience, but I'm sure everyone knows that. The Oculus Rift is indeed 5 stars and I have no clue why other civilians think otherwise. Some games I've been playing nonstop and highly recommend are Beat Saber, Arizona Sunshine, SUPERHOT VR, Robo Recall, and of course VRChat for the memes. Please buy one if you haven't

    Lots of issues

I absolutely loved this piece of VR equipment, when it was working. That being said....It has lots of issues. Setting up the equipment was very difficult, and it just seems Oculus did not think everything through when making the setup software. I have a brand new I-7 GTX 1080 TI computer with 32GB of Ram, lots of USB ports and I know my way around computers very well. This equipment causes a black screen and requires a restart, and then freezes windows. I downloaded the recommended driver from Nvidia and had to re-install the rift software (5.6GB download) so make sure you have a fast internet connection. It was incredibly awesome when it was working, but you should be able to turn off and turn back on your computer and have no issues with green screens or black screens. Returning it and trying the HTC Vive which seems much easier to setup and is user friendly according to all the reviews online by real users. The internet is full of people with the same exact bad experiences as I have had, and there is no apparent fix for it.

I've had one since launch and quickly jumped at the opportunity to buy a second setup when they went on sale for co-op goodness in the man cave. It was worth the price when it was nearly double the price. As an avid gamer who owns each current gen gaming console and a Vive, I can unequivocally state without a doubt, this is currently the ultimate experience in gaming. It cannot adequately be described. It can only be experienced.

    Still in Beta....

I used a Alpha rig a while back, its completely different, nice in some ways... Missing from the manual is how to load the batteries in the controllers... Had to google it. Manual's pretty worthless. I purchased this with a miss understanding the requirements. ATI RX 480 and up means RX x80 family, not the RX 560 which is also sold at BestBuy and I purchased for VR (560 even said VR ready on it box). So I constantly see system does not met minimum requirements. The software is still in beta, first install failed to install drivers for the cameras, the install is a 5 gb download , so when I clicked repair, it just did the whole download again. I would recommend a strong internet connection. After this them it was to enable 3 party apps in the Oclus App and get it on steam, It's software is still in beta as well. Took about 6 hours to set it up and get it running. Pros: Great packaging, very reusable for put-a-way or travel, Good construction on all pieces and nice heavy cables, unit does feel like a *Beta unit. In game performance is very good, trackers are amazing even with only two. Cons: As of Mid March 2018, all software is still in *Beta. Software is downloaded via installer, would like offline local installer. Better manual to replace googling everything. I.E. Battery doors held on with two magnets no instructions on that or how to open them.

    What a BLAST!

I really have to admit I am HOOKED! I picked up the Rift after kicking the idea around for about a year. I settled on the Rift due to the cost of the HTC Vive and the extras that you needed to buy (Audio Band for the HTC is an additional 100.00) The Rift seemed to be the most complete system and I enjoyed the feel. I have one thing I would change, that being the foam face shield on the edges of the unit. These can get wet with sweat and after a little searching I discovered a 20.00 add on for them that is washable and comfortable to boot. You get the best of both worlds with the Rift, you have the option to pick up games from both STEAM and the Oculus Store. I am building a bit of a collection at this point. Lone Echo is one of the most immersive games to date - if you have not tried this DO SO! You will not be disappointed!

This thing is amazing. You aren't just 'playing' games, you are IN the games. My favorite games are playing Paintball inside "RecRoom", swinging my lightsabers in "Beat Saber", and of course roaming the amazing open world of "SkyrimVR". Just buy this thing already, it is the real deal.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. I almost bought it for $349 on Black Friday but resisted. However, it was a Deal of the Day a week later for $325 and I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I am running it on a Dell G7 laptop and it runs great. This laptop has 3 USB 3.1 ports and I had no issues getting it setup. I am a lifelong gamer going back to the original Atari VCS and the experience is pretty amazing. As other reviewers have mentioned you are aware of the cord for the headset but I haven't run into any issues with tripping on it. There is a 3rd party wireless adapter available but I am not willing to spend another $300. I would probably spend an extra $100 though. Overall I am extremely happy with the purchase. It is almost more fun to watch other people play and see the look of disbelief on their faces when they experience it for the first time. Its not perfect but for the current price I don't expect it either.

I purchased the Oculus Rift at my local Best Buy (got great service from the sales associate!) as I had to configure a system for an immersive audio demonstration for my job. I was impressed by the packaging, the build quality, the set up and the overall experience. It took me a bit of time to figure out all the details on configuration, but that was all down to me. Sadly this unit belongs to the company, but I think I might have to get one for the house as well. Just awesome.
