My Favorite Health Tracker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been monitoring my health for a while now, using various devices like Fitbit, Apple Watches, and recently, a Samsung Watch. I've always been curious about smart rings, but never got the chance to try one until now. The Oura Ring 4 does a lot of things really well, but there are a few areas where I think it could be improved. **Setting Up** Let's start with the setup process, which was incredibly quick and easy. I was in a rush when it arrived, and I wanted to get it up and running that same evening to track my health and sleep. The entire process took less than 10 minutes, including pairing the device and downloading an update. It had to remain on the charging stand during the pairing and update process. I initially paired it with my Samsung S23 Ultra, and the connection was established very quickly. One thing to keep in mind is that some of the metrics collected by the Oura ring aren't immediately displayed. It takes time to track your ranges, so most of the information isn't available in the first few days. However, you'll start to see trends emerge after the first week of use. Even now, almost a month into using it, the ring is still calibrating my Chronotype/Body Clock information under Sleep Health. It says it needs 3 months of data to complete the calibration. I mention this to emphasize the importance of consistently wearing the ring to obtain meaningful insights into your health. I ended up needing to set the Oura up twice since I changed phones during my first few weeks with it. It was super easy to get it setup on my new device, and all of my previous data was there as soon as I logged into my new device. **Pros** So let’s start off why I think the Oura Ring 4 is a great health device. Again, this is coming from someone who has been using smartwatches everyday for the last 6-7 years. First off, I love that I only need to charge it once a week. I wear it all the time, only taking it off to charge. I do two 30-minute workouts every day, usually a 30-minute run followed by either 30 minutes of strength training, yoga, or core work. It can track all of that and only needs to be charged every 5-6 days. Next, let's talk comfort. At first, the ring was a bit of an adjustment. I've only ever worn my wedding band, so it took time to get used to the Oura Ring 4 on my right hand all the time. I ended up switching it from my index finger to my middle finger. It kept getting in the way on my index finger. After a few weeks of use, I barely notice it anymore. I haven't tried previous-gen Oura rings, but I've heard that they prioritized comfort. It seems like they nailed it with the Ring 4. Another thing that really impressed me was the way Oura presents the data. It's so easy to quickly glance at the app and see how you should plan your day. If you've been pushing too hard without enough rest, it might be time to take it easy. On the other hand, if you've had a great rest day, you might be ready to push yourself harder today. You get a quick score, but you can also dive into the detailed data that was collected to give you that score. Keep in mind that some of this data won't be available right away. You'll need to give the Oura a little time to gather enough data to determine when you're resting or pushing yourself. Oura provides an impressive range of data compared to Apple Fitness, Samsung Health, and Fitbit. It doesn't just give you numbers; it helps you understand how they affect your overall health. It's not just about the data, but also the explanations behind it. You can see how certain factors impact your metrics, allowing you to make lifestyle changes to improve them. For example, I cut out alcohol after seeing how it affected my sleep and recovery. These devices aim to provide health data and actionable steps for improvement. One area I hadn't focused on before is stress. The Oura Ring 4 and app offer valuable insights into how stress impacts my day and how I recover from it. It's motivated me to make time for relaxation. **Areas to Improve** Here are a couple of minor things I'd tweak. First, I wish the app had widgets. I am not sure if they're available on iOS, but for sure not Android. It'd be great to have quick access to my numbers right on my home screen. The other thing is the color. The rose gold looked more like bronze online, which I loved. In person, it's not as dark. It looks more gold than bronze, which is fair since that's the name of the color. I just thought the online images looked more like what I got. It still looks great, though. Just a minor gripe. The subscription fee might be a downside for some, but I think OURA offers a lot of valuable information in a way that's easy to understand. It would be great if purchasing the ring came with a longer membership than 30 days. In contrast, a Fitbit I bought a while ago came with 6 months of membership, if I recall correctly. While Samsung and Apple don't charge for tracking metrics, they also don't provide the same level of detail as OURA. Considering the positive impact OURA has had on my lifestyle in such a short time, I'm willing to pay the subscription fee. The activity tracking could use some work. It's pretty good at tracking most activities, but you have to double-check that it correctly recorded the duration and type of event. At first, I connected it to Health Connect so that it could just import my activities from my watch. It did that, but it would only import the duration of the activity and leave out the heart rate information. So, I switched it to just writing to Health Connect and not reading from it. That way, I can go in and edit the activity it does track or manually start an activity. **Bonus** The OURA app's Labs feature lets you test-drive upcoming features. I'm currently trying out the Oura Advisor and Meal Tracker. The Oura Advisor is an AI chatbot that helps you analyze your data and suggests ways to improve your health. It's like having a personal health coach at your fingertips! The Meal Tracker is pretty cool too. Just snap a pic of your meal, and it'll magically identify what you're eating. Although, it doesn't provide nutritional info yet, which would be super helpful. **Overall** The OURA Ring 4 has completely won me over. It's the perfect introduction to smart rings, and I can't imagine life without it. I'll be using it every day to track my health trends, and I might even ditch my smartwatch since the OURA Ring does everything I need. It's so comfortable and lightweight that I forget I'm wearing it, and I love that I don't have to worry about charging it every day. The app is super user-friendly and gives me a quick overview of my health, but it also lets me dive deep into the data to see how different factors are affecting my overall score. My only request is for some widgets, but that's a minor thing. The OURA Ring 4 is a game-changer, and I highly recommend it.

Oura Ring 4 - Black
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my Oura Ring 4 - Smart Ring to track my overall health due to health issues. My Cartologist recommended that I needed two start tracking my metrics, in aiding in my health recovery. I love the following scores: readiness; sleep; activity; heart; and stress. It takes a full month of wear to get a full metrics of your health, activities, and patterns, It has really helped me look at when I'm stressed, which has really helped me at work. I use the sleep to track recovery and issues with my CPAP. In addition with my Our ring, I measure my blood pressure daily, which is directly tied to my sleep quality. As I've continued with my cardio program, it's been really cool monitoring my heart rate, sleeping and daytime to see how different events impact me. The readiness feature is really cool. because it can tell if my body is recovered enough for a hard workout of a simple 30 minute walk. It's also simple to keep charged, When I see that it's close to needing a charge, its super easy to put it on the charger while you shower and get ready for the day, As far as the finish, I went with the black and haven't had any issues with nicks or scratches since Christmas. I'm rough on rings during the summer so we'll see how it wears, I highly recommend the Oura Ring 4.

Great lightweight fitness tracker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the **Oura Ring 4** for a few weeks now, and honestly, I’m really impressed. It looks sleek and feels super comfortable — I forget I’m even wearing it most of the time. The app is easy to use and gives me a clear picture of how I’m sleeping, my heart rate, and my overall recovery. I love checking my “readiness” score each morning to see how rested I am before a busy day. The battery lasts around five to six days for me, which is pretty solid, and the charging process is quick and simple. That said, it’s definitely not cheap, and you still have to pay a small monthly fee to get all the detailed insights. The workout tracking isn’t as advanced as a smartwatch, so it’s not the best for people who want live stats during exercise. But for everyday health tracking and sleep insights, it’s been amazing. If you want something low-key that helps you understand your body better without wearing a bulky watch, the Oura Ring 4 is totally worth considering.

The best Oura Smart Ring generation yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The fourth generation Oura ring is my third Oura ring and, I must say, they keep getting better and better. Pros: - This newest generation of the Oura ring has the longest battery life of any previous versions. I have gone four days and nights without charging and still had almost 50 percent battery. - They redesigned the charging base in a GREAT way. First, it's heavier than previous versions which is a much appreciated improvement since previous versions easily slid off my desk when taking the ring off or putting it back on. - You'll see in my pictures - the color variations have changed a little bit, too. My 3rd generation and 4th generation rings are both what Oura calls "Stealth," and you'll see it's a bit lighter in color. - The ring itself, although it appears bigger, weighs a little bit less. - The app provides a TON of valuable insights across a wide variety of health concerns. I use mine mainly for focusing on sleep, activity goals, stress management, and what they refer to as a Readiness Score. There are many, many other readings the Oura ring provides, but those are the key metrics I like to keep track of. - The app also integrates with Apple's Health app which provides even more information. Cons: - I dislike the monthly or annual fee. With a smart ring this expensive, I think the membership should come free with the ring - at least for a year or two. Overall, I'm thrilled with this latest iteration of the Oura ring and look forward to improving my health with its vast array of data points.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the Oura Ring. I was hesitant to switch from my Apple Watch, but I am so happy I took the plunge. I don't love the monthly subscription model for the app, but ultimately this is exactly the kind of wearable tech I was looking for. The Oura Ring is discreet, has a great battery life, is comfortable, and gives me all the metrics I need without having constant phone notifications on my arm. Would absolutely recommend this. I also recommend stopping in person by a best buy and using the ring sizer at the store.

You need this. It’s a must-have.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using health tracking devices since the first Fitbit came out and have always loved getting the data and health insights. I work in tech so the more data, the better. And out of all my wearables, including 8 different generations of an Apple Watch, my Oura Ring is the one I can’t live without. They’re constantly adding new features, and I find myself checking the app constantly throughout the day to learn how my metrics are changing. I also have a chronic illness and this little tracker has been game changing with tracking my inflammation and flares. It also has notified me on numerous occasions when I’m about to get sick so I can take action sooner to help my body heal faster. I can’t recommend this enough.

Health data for those trying to live optimally
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oura Ring is new to me. This is the 4th generation of this ring. I have been using an Apple Watch for five years, which I felt was an upgrade from what I used before that. I am a middle aged woman, who tries to maintain and do well in the aging process. I exercise almost daily and eat to be healthy. Can I do better? Of course. So I was curious about this Oura Ring and how it could help guide me and help me improve along with my Apple Watch. The ring itself is pretty comfortable. Before I received the ring, I did a bit of research on how to utilize it. Most people said they don’t wear the ring while working out, because it would get scratched up or worse, dented. So I don’t wear it while working out, unless I’m just walking or running, not while weightlifting. There is a ton of data that appears in the app. With the purchase of this ring, you get one month of the app. After that it costs $6 a month, probably add sales tax to that amount. There are many ways to read the data, and because it takes some time to get certain information, I don’t have all of my information, like cardiovascular age. I think I’ve been wearing the ring for 13 days. The app says it needs 1 more night of data to calibrate and give me that. I haven’t figured everything out yet, and for that reason, I can’t give 5 out of 5 stars yet. It might turn out to be the greatest thing ever for me, but not yet! Menopausal information: I’m past all of that pregnancy, fertility and cycle analyzing. Back then, this would have been amazing for all of that. Now I need to know more about this phase of my life. I may be wrong, but I don’t think the data does this, but it might be on the horizon. Adding activities in: I try to wear a weighted vest for an hour daily, if I can. I add it as an activity. But to do this I have to add it as “other” because of course, weighted vest wearing is not one of the activities in the list, but I do think it deserves to show as an activity. The sleep tracking data is really interesting to me, as many nights I wake up and have trouble falling back asleep, but there are nights where that doesn't happen. This is pretty interesting data to track over time. More comments about the Oura Ring itself. It is waterproof, so I don’t have to take it off whenever I wash my hands. But I don’t like the feeling of water under the ring, so I just pull the ring up on my finger and dry my finger underneath the ring area. I wear it on my non-dominant hand ring/ index finger, which is the recommended finger to wear it on. But after that finger the advice was to just wear it on whatever finger feels most comfortable to you. After 13 days of wearing it, I am comfortable with it on this finger. Even though I have my Apple Watch and the Oura ring, it isn’t too much information for me to look over. It is quite interesting, and it could possibly save my life someday, so I’ll continue to wear both devices.

Impressive smart ring
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oura ring has really surprised me at all the data it can collect. It is amazing to see all the data, graphs, insight, etc.. that it can provide. I own a smart watch that tracks my steps and heart rate among other things, but this ring takes it to new levels. Wearing a watch at night is not something that I feel comfortable doing. Wearing this ring 24/7 is no big deal. It does take a little getting used to, but not really that hard. I especially like seeing the graphic representation of my sleep quality. The Oura app is extremely full featured. The main screen shows your Readiness, Sleep, Activity, Heart Rate & Stress at the top of the screen. If you tap on them they give you more information. At the bottom of the screen it gives you info about Today, Vitals and My Health. Looking at my health it will give you your Resilience, Heart Health, Cardio Capacity & Sleep Regularity. It tells me my Cardiovascular age is lower than my actual age and my cardio capacity is high. Pretty cool to see. The app is packed with information so you can learn about all the data it collects and how to get healthier. If you don’t move each hour the app suggests that you get up and stretch on the half hour. The battery seems to last pretty well considering how small the ring/battery is. Mine will recommend that you recharge it before bed when it hits about 25% charge which is about every 5 days. It charges in about an hour and lets you know when it is fully charged. If you are looking for something to track your health, this ring is pretty impressive.

This ring changed how I look at my health.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For me it holds me accountable and gives me information that i can take to my doctors to help me with my issues. The ring is comfortable at all times. It holds a charge for almost a week! Just the heart rate data alone has given us information about what happens when I am sleeping. I am purchasing another for a co-worker to help her with communicating with her doctors. I recommend this ring to everyone, it is a powerful source for understanding what is happening at all times in your body. The only downside to the ring after one month of wear is that it does scratch. I am 63 so I am not doing crazy things, just normal life things. I am going to check with a jeweler to see if it can be buffed out occasionally.

Pretty great but easily scratched
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my oura ring for a few months and I can honestly say I love it. I use it with my apple watch and the stats are pretty close to each other. I mainly got this to track my sleep and because there are some days I dont feel like wearing my watch. I will admit that my sleep has gotten a lot better since tracking the quality of it. This ring also surprises me with its features like it can tell when Im getting sick or when my body is recovering. My only con about the ring is that it scratches really easily and I will say I wish it had a better tracking system because it can be easy to misplace. All in all I reccomend!

Tracks my sleep and heart rate
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Oura Ring for few weeks now, and overall I’m impressed. It’s sleek, lightweight, and much less bulky than a smartwatch, which makes it easy to wear day and night. I mostly use it to track sleep, and I’ve found the insights surprisingly accurate — it breaks down deep, light, and REM sleep in a way that helps me understand my rest better. The stress tracking feature is subtle but useful ad well, instead of just showing numbers, Oura translates them into readiness and recovery scores, which makes it easier to understand when I should slow down versus when I can push myself. It doesn’t feel overwhelming like some other trackers that just throw metrics at you.
