The Panasonic - Streaming 4K Ultra HD Hi-Res Audio with Dolby Vision 7.1 Channel DVD/CD/3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-Ray Player, DP-UB820-K - Black. Is one of the best purchases I made in a very long time. With the right setup it is just like sitting at movie theater. Crystal clear, sounds great, and very reasonable price wise.

This player is great with 4K UHD and great with upscaling DVDs and Blu-Rays. Only issues are the dated user interface and the cheap remote. This can be used as a streaming device but it does not have a ton of options for streaming.

The best option for affordable 4k viewing. No freezing on triple layers discs

I prefer the Panasonic DP-UB820 over the Sony UBP-X700 for playing discs because it seems like the HDR colors and blacks are slightly better, and the DVD and Blu-ray upscaling is excellent. It has tons of video settings, which is great. Of the major streaming apps, only Netflix and Amazon are available. The Sony unit is smaller and supports playing back more file formats from USB or disc, but I still prefer the Panasonic for discs. Use a Shield for streaming and files

Great 4K player with many high-end setting opt. It’s quick to play even with 4K movies. The only cons is that media connections menu. This menu would takes you back to the 90s

The video/audio output from this unit is Sooooo much better than the LG unit I replaced for this one. Output in Dolby Vision and Atmos where i haven't had it. Makes my C3 all the more worth the purchase.

Great alternative to Oppo 203. Build quality is a bit flimsy and remote feels cheap. Video quality, however, is stellar.

The picture quality produced by this player is great. If you own a non-HDR TV or a projector, then it is a must-own player due to its HDR processing. For those like me with a great HDR TV, I chose not to activate the HDR processing, since it took away some of the great brightness.

This player has played every disc I've thrown at it. 4K disc's play perfectly, Blu-ray, DVD, music CD's, you name it. Also includes a USB port so you can play videos from your phone or digital camera. If you have a 4K TV that supports Dolby Vision, this is a player for you since it can handle Dolby Vision as well. Very few 4K players have this option. Also includes a few apps such as YouTube and Netflix, which actually operate pretty smoothly. I've not encountered any problems with this player but have heard from others that some Lionsgate 4K movies may glitch when Dolby Vision is enabled, so Panasonic may release a firmware update in the future to resolve this. Very happy with this purchase over all. Highly recommend.

This is the best 4k UHD player on the market hands down. Everything I play on my samsung q900r looks great. The Panasonic dp ub9000 has the same video processing, but adds audio processing similar to what oppo has done. If you aren't using an AV receiver/processor then the ub9000 makes sense. If you have an AV receiver/processor, then stick with the UB820 as it will save you $500. Built quality is good and menu system is pretty straightforward. If you want or need the best video quality available look no further.

This is the nest 4k blu ray player that I have ever owned. The upscaling and 4k picture quality is top notch. Glad i got this one.

This is the fourth Blu-ray player I've bought in the past 18 months. So far, it functions perfectly, providing a clear picture and quality sound with an easy to handle remote (something not all Blu-ray players have). Hopefully, it will outlast and outshine its competitors.

This is a great, if not in some ways archaic (the UI is slow and clunky, but functional) DVD player. fortunately, youre probably not buying it for these other features.

I bought this to replace a 10 year old Samsung which actually still works. However upgrading home theater to Atmos so wanted a compatible player. Looking for quality 4K player but not willing to drop a grand. This player has all sound features and video formats currently out there to my knowledge. Start up is fast, set up menus intuitive and remote works pretty well. Although it recognized my Panasonic projector it doesn’t seem able to control it. Only gripe is the Entire front panel flips down for disc load only for the tray to be on far left. Seems they could have centered the tray in a more stable configuration or had a small fold-out tray. Front panel also seems to collect dust and smudges easily. Sound and picture are incredible and a step up from my previous player.

The Panasonic Blu-Ray is awesome. I can play my DVD's as well as Blu-Ray's. I can play CD's as well on it but since I have a separate CD player I don't require it for that purpose. I am getting great picture quality from everything that I play on it.

I purchased this as a step up (??) from my current Sony x800m2. The Panasonic is a good player, but definitely didn’t live up to the hype. While the various HDR settings might appeal to some, they are unnecessary if you have a modern mid to high end TV. None of them made the picture “better”, but rather just simply different. And that very well may appeal to some. In terms of audio, the Panasonic lacked the depth and detail of the Sony. Soundtracks seemed muddled and dull, and gave me the impression that an engaging audio experience was not on the priority list for the designers. If you decide to purchase, make sure you put it in a cabinet - disc spin was loud and noticeable. As for talk of the Sony occasionally skipping/locking up during playback - clean your discs! The Panasonic did the exact same thing with a less-than-clean disc. Bottom line, if you’re new to the game, this player should be on your short list. But if you already have the Sony (x700 or x800) or comparable, you will not be getting your money’s worth by upgrading to the 820. It’s certainly not worthy of 5 stars, but it would also be completely unfair to only give it 3. Regardless, I will be sticking with my Sony.
