Amazing! seriously makes all my movies look better. And it reads dolby vision disc so I dont have to change the setting every time

I went through two players and experienced the same issue with both which was skipping and momentary freezing with loss of audio on 4k disc playback. Playing XMen Apocalypse, Avengers Endgame, Alien 40th Anniversary(HDR10+): all skipped at random places during the movie. I even made sure my discs were perfectly clean. Tested and made sure all my high speed hdmi cables were connected and working properly. When the movies played smoothly the picture looks fantastic and really pushed my Samsung q8fn to it's full potential but nothing ruins movie night worse than freezing at the most important parts of a movie. The HDR Optimizer really sets these units apart I think and works really great even on streaming content. I picked up an Xbox One X and after getting all the settings right on the tv and console I'd say the picture is about 90-95% that of the Panasonic. For the premium cost of this unit I definitely expected better performance and just couldn't tolerate the skipping and freezing. Perhaps a future firmware will address these issues but for now I'm not willing to wait to see if that happens. Unfortunately I'll be returning the second as well.

There are a few minor issues (I’d like more choices when adding apps, it can take away to load disc because it asks disc/ or usb every time you load a disc) but those aren’t real breakers. The picture quality is incredible! Even streaming 4K Netflix looks better through this unit. The only thing I would change is the placement of the Netflix button on the remote. Haha

A perfect one makes the movies I watch look better and sound better

Supposedly better than the Sony X700 I was looking at. Great picture using regular DVDs, Blu Rays and UHDs (so great upscaling) Loads discs quickly

Well worth the price. I got this as an upgrade and the picture, and sound quality are a lot better. It's nice that it automatically switches from Dolby vision to HDR10.

After finding out the new Xbox and Playstation could not support Blu-Ray 3D payback, I was thankful to find this Panasonic locally at Best Buy. Currently running this through my AWOL 3500 PRO on a 120" wall mounted screen and the Panasonic has worked flawlessly in both Blu-Ray 3D as well as 4k. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a standalone 4k player with Blu-Ray 3D support, especially since Playstation and Xbox have no plans to support Blu-Ray 3D anymore.

I think this is the best 4K blu ray player available under $500 (and maybe under $900!) 4K blu rays look stunning. This player has an HDR optimizer feature, and also allows you to select your preferred TV type for optimal picture (OLED, lcd, etc.) this lets the player do tone mapping, which can help to achieve the best picture quality for your tv. If you’re in the market for a 4K blu ray player and you’re looking at Sony, LG, etc. look into this player first. The menu is a bit clunky and takes some getting used to, but the picture and audio quality make up for this.

So I was headed him to purchase this at first versus a slightly cheaper model from Panasonic, but after doing some research I ended up pulling the trigger on it and I could not be any happier. Every movie that I've watched on it so far has looked way better than when I was using my Xbox as a DVD player. It's almost like getting a new TV all over again

Audio and video on this unit is incredible! Previous player was a Samsung 7500, Samsung along with OPPO and a couple others have stopped making UHD players so with no updates and new codecs coming out I was on the hunt for a new player on the high end side. This is definitely the best player under $1000, Panasonic does make a 9000 series with better build quality and more features, but it will run you $999.99. Past that you will be spending more with Cambridge Audio or other brands. So the answer is yes this is definitely the best UHD player, unless you have $20k invested in your set up there is no reason go any higher!

The only thing this Panasonic player has over the oppo is that it has a better picture, not much but still better than oppo. Panny remote sucks, panny slower n movie 2 play. It's a shame oppo is done making 4k players but panny will do

One of the few players you can get today with full support for all the HDR formats. Works very well playing all my discs and the output is great. Content upscaling is very good and I have no complaints watching regular 1080p Bluray content on it.

I like this Blu Ray Player and favor it over the Sony 4K player that I have. It streams and does a good job of accessing your library if you have it stored on a NAS. The interface is the same one Panasonic has had for years, so if you are family with that interface it should be easy to adapt to. I have an Oppo 205, that is better but still this is a decent 4K player unless you can afford the 2000 series. It works well with my Pioneer Elite Receiver and LG OLED TV --- no handshake issues and everything works as expected.

A premium Blu-Ray player with premium picture quality. I really like how it can detect Dolby Vision from HDR as well as display 444 Chroma

With the newly discontinued Oppo, this is the new must have 4K Blu-ray player. Well designed with great build quality. This will play all your discs and contains options that other players can’t match. You can tweak HDR settings as well as increase sharpness in addition to what your tv is already producing. Loads super fast. Can’t sing enough praises! The quality and options are worth the price alone.

This is a great 4K blue ray player. Note that this can play standard blue ray discs along with 4K and , 4K UHD discs. This is the only blue ray player in this price range that can check for and then play any discs that are coded with Dolby Vision. All the Sony and LG an other players in this price range and under don't have the capability to enable dolby Vision automatically. For those players, you would have to manually go into settings and enable DV for every disc, which is a sheer first-world problem! Hence, get this Panasonic player for a little higher price and be set for next few years.

The best player I have ever used. Going from a Sony -800 to this Pani 820 is a noticeable improvement in just about every aspect of picture quality. What surprised me was the noticeable improvement in the sound quality. These improvements may not be noticeable on some of the least expensive LCD TVs, but on my Optoma 110 in projector, they were very noticeable. A lot of this comes from the auto-tone mapping that the Pani 820 has and the Sonys do not have. It makes even the worse 4K transfers look far superior

Very good 4k player. Much better than the Sony I previously had that would hang up a good bit. Keep making 4k Blu-ray’s!
