first time buying wifi smart plug used it for my lights outside and no complained easy to use.

Works well outside for Christmas lights. Very easy setup and easy to use in the app!

I purchased the Peace by Hampton outdoor smart plug as a “Deal of the Day”. I had intended on using it for my outdoor Christmas lights. Following the instructions, I first downloaded the app (you need this for set up). I then attempted to pair it with my home mesh wi-fi router while inside my house. Repeated attempts, through both the manual and auto procedures (the app allows for both) yielded no positive results. Following the online trouble shooting suggestions I placed the plug and my phone both within about one foot of the base router. Still repeated failures to pair. I then reached out to customer service at Peace by Hampton. I was surprised and impressed that I quickly connected to a real person, without needing to go through a bunch of automated prompts. The CSR (Valerie) was very pleasant, and did her best to assist in remedying the connection issue, but ultimately had no better luck than me. She arranged for a replacement unit to be shipped to me, and provided a FedEx authorization to return the original unit. I told her I was going to wait to receive the replacement before returning the original unit. Upon receiving the replacement unit, I again went through the motions to pair it with my phone. Again, no luck after multiple attempts. I again contacted PbH customer service, this time reaching a different representative. I informed her I was having no more success with the replacement unit than with the original. The rep informed me she was going to pass the matter along to their technical support group. Later, I received an email from “Matt”, asking about arranging a call to sort out my connection issue. I responded quickly, stating that I was immediately available, and would be for about another hour and a half. Nothing. The following day I sent another email to Matt stating I had expected to hear from him. Nothing. I ended up shipping back the replacement unit to Peace by Hampton and returning the original unit to Best Buy for a refund. Things happen, and products don’t always perform as expected. I could have simply returned the plug to BB, but I thought I’d invest the time in letting PbH try to work it out. What started out as a promising customer service experience ended in annoyance and irritation. Even if PbH technical service couldn’t resolve my connection issue, I would have given them credit for being attentive and doing all that could be done. Instead, I ended up being ghosted by the company. Needless to say, I will be reluctant (at best) to purchase any additional smart home devices from Peace by Hampton.

Would not connect to WiFi. App is pretty much worthless, won't let you choose a wifi network, rather it connects to the stronger one and you can't change it. Returning product.
