Excellent addition to Hue system

Not worth it

The bulbs are connected through this bridge (hub) that needs to be somewhere in the room to ensure it is working well. The problem with this is the hub has to be connected to your router. Ok, no biggie i'll just connect it to the router via WiFi, right? Wrong! It is required to be connected through ethernet cable. Well, this poses a problem for me as my router is in the basement. If I connect it there the signal from the hub wasn't strong enough to reach my bulbs in the main family room and kitchen. It also didn't help that one of the bulbs just flickered constantly and then stopped working all together. Being that this tech is still rather new I'd wait it out until there are better options. Hard wired hubs are so 10 years ago. I also think that you'd be better off getting one of those new smart switches. I'd rather spend money on the switch then roughly $35/bulb
