These lights are fun. Pricey. but fun. Easy to install and connect to the hub. But you do need a hub

Installed 6 of these in living room so I could remotely control the individual lights. Setup was easy using the Hue bridge. Able to control with iPhone app and/or Siri. Ability to change colors of lights is a definite plus, can set the lighting to match the mood.

Used to have old style manual timers that were always out of sync, got off time with DST or if power went out, etc. When you wanted a light on, had to go to the outlet and flip the switch, which then if forgotten, left the lights on 24/7. Now, with the Philips Hue, it is all programmed through the app on my phone, have multiple times the lights go on and off, and the huge bonus is the colors. Have 4 lights in our family room where we spend most of our time watching TV, movies, playing video games, etc. This bulb was installed in a recessed ceiling "eyeball" light socket that is over our fireplace. Have two of the hue bulbs in lamps set to regular "white" color and have scenes set up to have the other lights (torch lamp and this recessed lighting in the ceiling) to be other colors (sometimes red, indigo, green, etc) It adds so much to the feel of the room. Add to that the fact that I can program my Harmony Ultimate Home all in one remote to dim and change the color of the lights when I hit the "play DVD" activity, it brings a movie theater feel our home viewing. My teenage boys LOVE playing with all the combinations of light colors.
I plan to add the regular "white" only hue bulbs to the upstairs room with wireless dimmer switches so they can be turned on and off at a switch by the door, but also give me the ability to schedule random lights in the bedrooms and throughout the house to turn on and off when we are away, giving a much more realistic "someone is home" look for security.

Purchased the hue due to comparability with smartthings and apple HomeKit. The Philips app provides a basic feature set which they are improving. Easy to set up.

These are our first smart lights and we really like them. We like that we can set them bright for reading and other tasks, but also can change to many colors and change the mood of the room. Warmer colors can make the room feel quite cozy. We like them much more than we thought we would. They work great, but I don't own other brands so I can't compare. But definitively would consider being more of these.

I had high hopes for the new light designs from Philips, but was left a bit disappointed by their lights still being unable to produce a decent green hue. They claim to be brighter than the old bulbs, which they are, but don't expect a night and day difference. Chances are in most situations you are not going to notice the increased brightness unless you have the two bulbs next to each other.
Other than that, they are exactly what you would expect: high quality casing, responsive, easy to install, and low energy usage.

These lamps are great for those with track lights or recessed high hats as they are individually addressable meaning you can turn them on or off, change the color and dim them separately. Of course, you have to have Wifi and be comfortable setting up the bridge to talk to these lamps. It is really not that hard. A significant plus if you use Amazon's Echo, Apple's Home or Google's Home as you can talk you way to all the changes. Also, if you do not want to be bothered, if it is a bother, to use the app all the time you can revert to your normal control through your existing light switch. Just do not connect to a dimmer as most, though not all, dimmers will not work well with these bulbsThe downside, after you get over the sticker shock (Not bad if you consider what it would cost to hire an electrician to rewire each lamp.), is that LED's while significantly more energy efficient do not yet have the light output of a high wattage halogen bulb.

I wanted these bulbs to be able to control them from my recliner, but most often the connection to the hub is lost and I have to get up and turn them off like a normal bulb. When I get them working, the colors are nice and there are a few apps out there to play with cycling the colors. I guess I don't have an everyday need for the colors, just during parties, so mostly I use them as a regular LED bulb. Overpriced, but fun.

I bought these to go with my indoor lights of the same brand. The main reason we went with these was to be able to have them turn on and off automatically instead of relying on the wall switch or installing a light sensor.
Plus, I decided to have some fun with them and make them change colors for the seasons. It's nice to show a little holiday spirit without physically changing lightbulbs in sub zero temps.
My only complaint with these is the same complaint I have with all Hue lights. The colors span a wide spectrum, but there are certain colors that it just won't do even though it's on the color wheel of the app. Basic primary colors are good, but anything beyond that and you start to experiment.
The routines to turn them on and off (and adjust color throughout the night) work great. They were easy to install and configure. The app is ok, not great. But overall very happy with the purchase.

I decided to go turn my house into a "lazy" house through electronics. I have 9 of these lights in my house that are operated by voice through Amazon's Alexa (Echo & Echo Dot) and also controlled through my Harmony remote. I will be purchasing more of these in the future! The lighting is brilliant for any mood you decide to use (colors). Without a doubt, you will not be disappointed in this product or any Philips lighting products. Even though there are some glitches, ones I've encountered is the lights don't work because of hub and electronic updates, you will be pleased!

Placed over Kitchen Bar and Sink. Operate the lights independently, in pairs, or in a single group. Create bright daylight for food preparation, warm glow for eating at the bar, and atmosphere lighting for party food station.

Bulb is great has a wide array of colors
Just be aware this bulb is for fixtures that have a directional light.
So basically a fixture that the light would face straight down or in a direction to have sort of a spot light.

I currently have 12 hue lights. Half of them are BR30s in my kitchen. Unfortunately, standard non-color BR30s are not available. However, my opinion is that color hue lights are best when you can color your walls with them. They are less interesting when they are simply pointing at the floor from the ceiling. Standard non-color BR30s at a lower price point would have been a logical solution for a kitchen. Otherwise, the bulbs work great and they do what they are suppose to.

It makes a nice ambiance in my kitchen. I can control it from my Amazon Alexa or the Hue app on my phone. The only thing to note is if someone turns off the power to the light, it will not default back to the color you last set. This is not a deal breaker for us, but it may be for others. This can be remedied by covering your switch boxes and putting in hue switches, which we have not yet done but do plan to do in the future, especially for our colored bulbs.

I now have Hue lights in living room, bedroom, kitchen and dining room. I love being able to control the color and brightness as well as set lights on timers. And they are great for parties.
