Customers are saying

Customers praise the Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor for its ease of use, reliable motion detection, impressive range, and adjustable sensitivity. Users also appreciate its simple installation process and broad compatibility with other smart home devices. However, some customers find the price to be a bit high and the size larger than expected.

Didn't see where you needed a separate hub for it to work

I can't manage to make this work acceptably within HomeKit. So, unfortunately, it's been configured in the Hue app. It works fine there, I'd just much prefer to have it in HomeKit to trigger additional automations.

I can’t get the sensitivity of the motion sensor low enough. On the lowest setting sitting 6’ high it still reaches out a good 25’. I was hoping for a much smaller detection range.

Motion goes off for no reason and seems like it doesn’t turn off sometimes. Also if I lose power, the lights stay on until I notice and have to use the app to turn them back off.

Installation location is not easy as trying to adjust the sensitivity is very difficult. The Hue software is very lacking as well. Instructions enclosed are not worth the paper they are printed on. The Sensor has a tendency to grab other Hue lights not connected to it and control them. Needs some serious work.

Wish it covered a larger area. Some times it works in an area and then some times it don't. Still trying to figure it out.

    Great sensor

This device is not standalone! Yes. You need to have a bridge and at least one light in place. That's just common sense, people. Hue sells a "system" and as such, you need the bridge. Once you have that and install lights, this sensor is the best! I have used Hue lights all over my house and they fail only when they wear out. I abused an indoor bulb by using it on my back porch, exposed to weather and it lasted four years! Thos sensor sees everything that moves in my large backyard and kicks on eight floodlights immediately! Waits five seconds snd then kicks on livvimg room lights. To an uninvited guest, it looks like someone has bren awakened and is fetchin' grandpaws shotgun! Couldn't be more pleasd with this sensor and the Hue system.

forget people on the sidewalk it catches cars on the street. sometimes leaves on the trees moving cause it to activate. even at lowest sensitivity setting. Have to use the angle bracket to face it downward to actually be useful.

I purchased this item believing that all I needed was in the box...Oh NO! I have to get some Smart Hub too! And then, put this light on the app. In addition, I cannot return it now because of Best Buy Return policy. So, no motion sense light working!
