This fits so well around my LG OLED. Super easy to install, I recommend getting some alcohol pads to clean off the area on the back of the TV that the mounts will attach to since it tends to get dusty back there. But the color matching is great, and it’s a lot of fun to use especially if you have an existing Hue setup. This is definitely become an integral part of my entertainment center for my family.
Yeah, definitely a little pricey especially when you’re having to purchase the Sync Box as well. But well worth it in the right environment.

The finishing Touch

The finishing touch to a great movie experience. Paired with the Hue Hub, Hue Sync Box & 3 Hue Play Bars it’s definitely on the expensive $$ side but after paying a few thousand for my LG C1 77Oled .. why not. My only complaint is that it doesn’t cover the bottom of the TV, so you have to buy the Hue play bars to to fill in the bottom. At least 3 Hue Play Bars for a 77” but 4 can fit. Other than that my movies and games are more immersive.

Let me start out by saying that having all these Hue lighting syncing to my tv sound like a cool idea but thats all it is, a cool idea. This light strip works and syncs very well. You must have the sync box in order to get the colorful effect. This strip can be used without the sync box but you can not the rainbow color effect, it will only be whatever one color at one time. The downside is that there was a price increase after it was sold out for weeks if not months.

Works very well with my Hue Sync Box and a couple Hue Play lights setup with the Hue Sync Box as well. I do wish the Hue Gradient was a bit more bright though. Also didn’t think about it when purchasing it, but the way it is designed, it doesn’t provide any backlighting on the bottom of the TV, which would be fine if it were on a stand, however, I have my TV wall mounted. I’ll probably just pickup another Hue Play light to shine under my TV to get the absolute full effect.

Beautiful, Flexible, Seamless Light Array

This light strip is a uniform array of lights put onto a flexible rubber casing that allows for ease of installation and seamless light. The instructions you follow on the Hue App help with installation and give handy tips. The connection between the light strip and its local receiver/power connection could be better, but with all the 3M sticking/tacking required this shouldn't be an issue if it is all installed properly.

Great quality strip. Really captures a lot of of the TV colors. I only wish that it was longer so that way you could get the bottom of the screen.

I previously had multiple Hue Play Bars mounted behind my tv with the Hue sync box, and while it worked well, replacing those with the Gradient Lightstrip was definitely an improvement. Installation was quick and easy (I didn't even have to unmount my television from the wall). I'm very happy with this

Works as expected; easy to set up and use. I was a bit worried using these on a curved TV, but it might actually work a bit better by projecting the side light out further. We enjoy the added inversion - now it's weird when our TV isn't backlit.
Only issue so far is that the stickers on the mounting brackets don't like our TV's ribbed back surface; but that's hardly the fault of the product. Some 3M double-sided mounting tape is a simple remedy.

Although pricey, This is the best Lightstrip I've tried in terms of quality and getting the most ambiance. Unfortunately the first one that was delivered to me had a faulty corner which made the one corner always have Green LED's. Luckily I bought it from Best Buy & they have wonderful customer service. They sent me the replacement first before I had to send the faulty one back.

Almost Perfect

This would have been a perfect rating if not for the ease of installation. The lightstrip is not as flexible as one would expect like the previous Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Lightstrip. It came with plastic “corner guides” which allows the strip to fit snugly when it goes on the corner edges of your TV, but since the strip is so rigid and “uncooperative”, it tends to snap out of the gap where it was suppose to be in and ultimately it just hangs wherever it wants. My TV has an uneven backside so the strip cant even lay flat on the back panel of the TV and makes it is so difficult for it to be held down even if you apply a double sided tape on it. I would say the previous Hue White and Color Ambiance Lightstrip was such a breeze to put on that it makes you wanna forget about the missing gradient feature it lacks that creates the stunning visual effect it when you use your TV for viewing or streaming music.

So cool! Colored light surrounds your TV to match what you're watching. Really enhances my viewing experience. It's expensive since you also need the HDMI Sync box, but if you can afford it, it's totally worth it. One other downside is that it only works through HDMI, so it won't work with native smart TV functionality. I use the new Chromcast with Google TV.

Makes the Sync Box and Hue Sync worth it

I already had a standard light strip behind my TV, but I barely used it for Hue Sync because a single color means that the Sync Box has to decide on one dominant color per frame. That means that if you have a relatively static scene where say an object or person walks across, the light strip will flicker as each frame has a slightly different color composition. Doesn't matter if you have surrounding Hue lights, the effect is very distracting.
Not so with the gradient strip, as each zone stays relatively stable due to not having to adjust for motion outside its corresponding area. Night and day difference.
My only con with this strip is that it doesn't cover the bottom of the screen (the strip is effectively an inverted "U" for the top and sides only). But that's a very small con and barely affects the overall quality.

I bought a whole set up for my boyfriend for his birthday and he absolutely loves having the lights set up. The colors are great and really add to our movie nights and game play! I love them so much that I plan to get more of the strips to add to different parts of our house.

I was using the Play Bars for a 65 inch Sony. I had a total of 10 covering the back of the tv. With the Gradient strip, i was able to repurpose 7 of the lights to expand the light field. The strip was easy to attach to the tv and the app automatically takes care of it's positioning on the tv.
This is definitely a novelty item and shouldn't be used on every movie or tv show, but it does enhance the experience when playing video games and watching action movies. You will need the Phillips Hue hub and the Sync Hub to use these light. Those 3 items alone are well over $500. There are cheaper options on the market, but none of them are as seamless and easy to use as items within the Phillips ecosystem. If you're tech savvy, i would advise you to explore the other options. If you aren't tech savvy or are already invested in the Hue ecosystem, buy this for the ease of integration and use.

Big upgrade! Had the old light strip behind the TV and this is a big improvement with the different portions of the light changing color as opposed to the whole strip. I need the Sync box in order for this to work with all my devices, but it works great with the computer that's connected.

This was one of my favorite purchases. If you buy the sync box it completely matches up to the colors on the screen which is great for movies and even sports. The only problem I have is that with the sync box, everything is linked up to a single hdmi even if you’re using cable and a game console, and the only way to change the inputs back and forth from console to cable is the hue sync app on your phone. Since they’re both connected to a single hdmi, you can’t change the input on your normal tv remote, so no one else can really use the TV without you being there. I think the product is great enough to disregard this issue, but moving forward hue should try to do something about not being able to use the TV remote it came with to switch inputs. Also, you can’t use the hue lights for smart tv apps. Only consoles and cable.
