Kind of a pain to set up considering you need 2 additional products to use these lights to go with the electronic you’re using. Theyre nice once you get them going but to spend like $500+ total on all 3 things just to have these lights work? Meh. Im only keeping everything cause my girls are obsessed

Easily installed behind our 4K tv. The hardest part was hiding the power on the recessed power outlet, but once that was worked out, this looked wonderful. Much easier to install and use than regular light strips because it is fitted to the size of the tv formed corners but still flexible to place exactly as needed. I’m combination with the hue sync box, these lights synced to movies or music really add to the entertainment experience. Not cheap, but if you don’t mind the price these are great when used size matched to your screen.

These are the best TV backlights I’ve used. Much easier to install than the Hue light strips and the color is more vibrant.

THE best thing you can add to your TV experience. Most importantly, it makes it so much easier to watch TV/movies in the dark. Secondly, it adds a whole new dimension to movies and games.

Great product. It pairs to the hue bridge and Hue HDMI Synch box flawlessly. The effects are obviously eye catching. Everyone who has seen my set up is impressed and I only have this gradient light strip and two hue bulbs in two lamps next to the couch. Movie watching is stunning and playing XBOX games are fun. The Philips Hue eco system is pricy but I have no regrets. I also didn’t buy all the products at once. Either pace yourself and pick up one item each month or save up to make the big purchase. Either way I enjoy the effects these hue products have.

This product may seem silly/excessive at first gosnce but it truly changes the entire viewing experience for the better. It never loses its wow factor and doubles as a nice backlight at night. For gaming, its even more immersive. One if the better purchases I have made. Worth every penny.

Incomplete Product without Pricey Hue Play, Avoid!

The most expensive lights you will ever buy most likely (next to a proper chandelier). They look incredible though, but the biggest caveat is you need the hue play device which is essentially an HDMI hub to take advantage of the color sync features. It makes sense, how could you have a color responsive system without it getting color data from something. So HDMI is what sends it color info to sync, but good luck finding a Hue Play device in stock. This separate base station is $250-300 and is not manufactured currently. So sort of a dead product unless you just want a light strip behind your TV (which you can get for $40 or less with WiFi and the same no-sync features). If somehow this became a software update that does not require a HDMI hub base station that acts as a passthrough for all my devices, I'd update the review to 4 stars, but still not 5. To be 5 stars, I need to be able to use the color-sync feature with my consoles, and my Smart TV media apps (not FireStick, or Chromecast, again you need an HDMI in between the TV > Hue Play > Console/FireStick). In addition, the Hue Play hub is just not even for sale so this is an incomplete product as it is. But the colors do look nice, and are exceptionally high quality. Just not worth nearly $200+ for being a dummy strip. Phillips is out of their collective minds if they assume this will make them money without a software update. And you will need to have available power behind your TV, i.e. run a power cable/extension cord through the wall mounting otherwise you have no way to light a wall mounted TV without having exposed, dangling cables below the TV.

If you are bought into the Philips Hue lighting system and want to enhance you TV viewing, this lightstrip is great! Works better than the Hue Play system for you TV since it basically has 7 zones. Make sure you get the right size for your TV, I can see getting the incorrect size will cause the zones to be slightly shifted. It requires a Hue Sync box or the PC software to work so there is the additional cost for that, and as with all the Hue products it is a bit pricey.

Is this really cool for certain movies? Of course. Is this cool to show your friends when they come over? Of course. Is this cool for video games? Duh. Is this necessary when you start factoring in the costs of the play box? Absolutely NOT. I had myself convinced I needed this when in reality, it hardly ever gets used. My wife thinks it’s annoying and I definitely is annoying if you just want to watch TV. If you have money to blow then by all means have at it. Does this average person need this? Not at all. Great product. Limited actual use.

This strip works great paired with the Hue Sync Play Box. The only downside is that it does not wrap around the whole TV, only the top and sides.

Never mind what the critics say. This is a must have for those looking to take the home theater up a level. I wanted the 75, which is what I should use for my tv size however, the 75 was sold out. So for those looking for 75, 65 works well. Product works great, downside you need to use the fire-stick in order to have the colors sync seamlessly. But once you get over that you are good. Honestly, while expensive, it definitely worth it. Especially at a time like this. Stay Safe Everyone.

SO much better that the older Hue Bar Lights

I previously had 3 of the "Philips Hue Play White and Color Ambiance Bar Lights" and ended disconnecting those and the "Hue Play HDMI Sync Box" and parking the set in storage because they were sluggish, not that accurate, and the HDMI box constantly messed with Apple TV 4K's video settings and I was not able to use Dolby 4k without the LG OLED TV constantly turning off and back on -- forcing me to a lower 4K setting and negating the reason I spent the money for the setup. I recently saw and then bought the new "Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip" and set it up with the HDMI Sync Box again -- and finally am happy with it all. The colors surround the TV back on 3 sides (top, left, right) in one loop and accurately and instantly display the matching colors reflecting on the wall behind the 65" TV (which is setting on a console and not wall-mounted). It was easy to mount the loop with 3M stickies and they seem to actually stay attached (the Bar lights would fall off the back of the TV in the middle of the night and scare everyone in the house). There has also in the meantime been a firmware update to the HDMI Sync Box and everything actually passes through as it should have 2 years ago (Apple TV > HDMI > Sync Box > HDMI > TV) and I can run Dolby 4K again. The setup requires a separate "Hue Sync" app on my iPhone, but it works well and perhaps one day when I am not feeling so lazy, may automate the process. Right now I just open the app (just when I want to watch good shows; not Cheers re-runs) , turn on the lightship from the app and click "start". When I am done, I put the Apple TV to sleep and it also puts the HDMI Sync Box to sleep as well, so I don't have to access the app again until I am ready for them again. I am so much happier that Hue seems to finally have gotten this right. My two teen-aged great-nephews were over the other day and both jumped up to check the back of the TV when I turned the lightstrip on from outside on my phone, after I had glanced inside and saw them watching TV without it. Perhaps a bit pricey setup overall, but it does a good job and really makes TV ambient against my white wall -- especially at night, but also during the day it casts a decent but more subtle ambience.

I love how accurate they are! Super easy and simple set up, only negative thing I found was that the connector for the lights is very small and very flimsy and will bend the terminals if not careful. But other thank that absolutely perfect
