The app can be a hit or miss when tracking areas you had cleaned. There are times it does not pick up the area even though you had spent 15+ in that section. Build of the producf is nice

I am already on my THIRD unit! If you don't care about the app. You have cheaper options. The two units I had prior would stop sensing correctly where I am brushing. It would say I am moving too fast when I am not moving the brush at all. It would say I am not brushing where I am actually brushing. Factory reset didn't help. This would happen maybe within three weeks of using it. The only upside of this is that Philips have been great on just send me new units.

This is my 4th Philips Sonicare toothbrush; so, full disclosure--I’m already a big fan. After I started using Sonicare on a regular basis many years ago, my dental hygienist confirmed that my teeth & gums were in far better shape than when I was using a manual brush alone. I’ve had no cavities since, & my hygienist has very little work to do at cleaning time. This 9900 Prestige coupled with the Philips Sonicare App is extremely hi-tech! I thought the 6100 ProtectiveClean unit was amazing, but this 9900 blows it away. HIGHLIGHTS: - Beautiful packaging - Sleek smooth handle - Minimalist charging stand - Upscale travel charging case - Great color options include Champagne, Pink, & Midnight Blue. But I love the Black! - SenseIQ lets you know if you’re applying too much pressure (which is easy to do in the beginning). If you keep pressing too hard, it will automatically adjust for you. Wow! - 3 levels of brushing intensity: The recessed button on the handle makes it easy to change at any time. - Philips Sonicare App: Fantastic! Gives real-time feedback while brushing, including all aspects of your technique. Are you applying too much pressure? Are you “scrubbing”? Not brushing long enough? It also keeps a full brushing history, gives additional tips & lets you know when it’s time to change out the brush head. - Interchangeable Brush Heads: The 9900 comes with the A3 All-in-One brush head, but other brush heads are compatible. I actually prefer the C2 heads. - If you want to go low-tech, no problem. Just plug it in, charge it up, press the start button & skip downloading the App. This 9900 gets 5 stars across the board. I really don’t know how Philips will be able to top this one. I’d rather invest in prevention than spend on restoration, and Sonicare pays for itself in savings on dental work.

    Superb Teeth Cleaning Experience

The Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige is a great advancement to to an already great line of electric toothbrushes. The toothbrush alone will leave your teeth feeling like you just stepped out of the dentist office. The brush (which is better than previous brushes I’ve used on older Sonicare models), gets in hard to reach places and really leaves your teeth nice and clean. But the real advantage of this toothbrush is the companion app. The Sonicare app (which connects to the toothbrush) helps you ensure you are brushing your teeth to get the best clean. It monitors pressure, angles, and time in the zones of your mouth adjusting the brush and giving you tips on how to better brush. Over the course of a week or so, you will be using the brush to get the best teeth cleaning experience possible. The ability to charge the brush in the provided case is a nice touch for frequent travelers. The only thing I wish is that Philips would have included a second brush head for the price of this device. Overall, the Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige will leave your teeth feeling cleaner than ever.

I normally am an Oral B toothbrush user but jumped at the chance to get the Phillips Sonicare 9900 Prestige. It arrived beautifully packaged with the toothbrush, one brush head, charger with USB cord, travel case and a user manual. To get the most benefit out of the brush, you need to download the Phillips Sonicare app for your phone. The Phillips Sonicare app monitors how you brush and flashes a purple warning when you are using too much pressure. It also helps you focus on how and where you need to brush to improve your results. At first, using the toothbrush hurt until I found the right settings and got used to the way it vibrates and works. Compared to my Oral B, I thought the Phillips to be at least equal to or slightly better than my old toothbrush. This is a high-end toothbrush unit which is reflected in the toothbrush color, design, travel case and smartphone app and is priced higher than most brushes you will find. However, over time, it should pay fopr itself in dental bill savings if you use it consistenly well.

I have used several Phillips Sonicare brushes, dating back to 2008 and they are all great toothbrushes and each had a great quality. As the brushes improved, Phillips starting implementing bluetooth into the brush heads to sync with your phone and the Phillips Sonicare app. This brush is seamless and the design is one of the best I have seen yet, simple, has a flashing light on the bottom to ensure you arent brushing too hard and the app tells you areas your missing and better ways to brush. Plus it has intricate intelligence to know when its time to change the brush heads and controls to power the right amount of pressure etc. Phillips knows how to make an intelligent toothbrush and this device comes with a leather slim case and a fancy stand mount.

Best tooth brush on the market but….

This is the best tooth brush but it is missing the ultra cool charging glass that came with the lower model. This one has a normal charger. The glass charger looks better and more finished when your toothbrush is sitting in it. It’s better looking that having the traditional charger this one comes with. The AI thing is prob cool, I will never use it. It’s like of overkill but the brush vibrates with the most intensity.

Wow! I got the Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige to replace an electric toothbrush set (handle, charging base and 4 various heads) that I have had over 10 years. I mainly use an electric toothbrush for daily polishing after manual brushing and flossing to clean. Boy has technology changed! When I opened the box it contained a travel case that can actually charge your toothbrush when plugged into a USB power adapter! I would only take a manual toothbrush for travel but now I have another option. At first the whole thing may seem a little bit much. Small gold charging base that has a plastic frame that just sits on top to hold the handle in place, USB-A power adapter to plug into your electric outlet, lithium-ion battery toothbrush handle and the A3 Premium All-In-one brush head, USB-C cord for the travel case/charging unit and a plastic travel cover for the head. Instructions are a mixture of pictures on a card "Get to Know Prestige 9900" and a thick little manual in English, Spanish and French for Canada. Once you have it assembled then it can sit on the charging base while you download the Sonicare app to get the full experience. Create an account and then follow the guided setup instructions to connect via Bluetooth. You only need to make sure the Sonicare app is open on your iPhone before you turn on the brush so it can connect and track your use. My iPhone is usually on the wireless charging pad outside the bathroom to stay dry so I check to be sure the app is open before I start brushing. Once connected you can set up preferences in the app for statistics like scrubbing, pressure, choose a brush time and get feedback. Enable and disable Adaptive Intensity and Scrubbing Feedback. If you lift the brush handle off the charger while you have the app open you can adjust the settings on your iPhone screen. The instructions say most people only brush for 40 seconds which wouldn't even cover a fraction of my big mouth. On the brush handle you can manually choose 3 levels of intensity, see the battery indicator, a brush head replacement reminder, and blue lights on the end of the handle that are supposed to turn purple to alert you if you apply excess pressure. The SenseIQ will illuminate on the handle when the smart features are active. The app actually tells you how many uses the brush head has left and you can order another from inside the app or just pick one up at your local Best Buy store. Brushpacer divides the time into 6 segments and causes a little pause (hiccup) alerting you that it is time to move to another area. The app tracks your usage each day and gives feedback on your brushing. If you do multiple sessions back to back (it takes me three to do a full polish), it will give cumulative feedback. I wasn't getting any feedback one day and eventually realized that the app was no longer connecting to the handle. Tried to reconnect but it wasn't working so I had to open Bluetooth on my iPhone and Forget This Device then add it back per the instructions. So much more data and charts of my daily brushing than I actually need but interesting to see. There are even more in the app that you can pay $10 extra per report or a Complete Care report for $35. Amazing what the 9900 Prestige and the Sonicare app can do for something as common as brushing your teeth.

I have been using a Sonicare DiamondClean for quite a few years now. After receiving this new 9900 Prestige, I could tell after the first use that the new motor has a lot more power, and the new brush head design does a way better job. My teeth feel squeaky clean. My DiamondClean always did a great job, but there is a noticeable difference in smoothness on my teeth after using this new Prestige brush. Sonicare has always made a solid brush, but if you can swing the higher price, I can't recommend this 9900 Prestige enough. Definitely a happy customer here!

Far too expensive for very little benefit

THE GOOD - Typical good Sonicare cleaning - Battery lasts two weeks ( but often more ) - Compatible with older Sonicare brush heads THE BAD - Very pricey - No noticeable cleaning benefit over older Sonicare brushes - Only comes with one brush head - The "Advanced" brush heads are notably pricier than the normal C, G, and W heads - "Advanced" heads not available in compact sizes - Touch buttons easy to accidentally press - Poorly designed charge base I've been using Sonicare toothbrushes for years, namely a 6100 and 9700 series, and I rather like them. They clean my teeth well, replacement heads aren't much more expensive than a good manual toothbrush when purchased in bulk, and the batteries can go weeks between charges. I was hopeful Philips' claims about the 9900 being smarter and more advanced would be a noticeable improvement, but that's not been my experience. The SenseIQ on the 9900 is supposed to be able to detect how you brush your teeth and automatically change the brushing function to get the best cleaning. If the sensors detect you not brushing certain areas of your mouth as it thinks you should, it will report such on the companion mobile application, extend the brushing timer, and instruct you to brush them again. The new A3 brush head is supposed to be an "advanced" or "all-in-one" brush head that Philips claims cleans just as well as their C heads, whitens as well as the W heads, and is better for gums than the G heads. The big downsides here is the price. Philips is asking a very large chunk of cash for the 9900. Aside from the SenseIQ, the feature set is practically identical between the three Sonicare models I've used ( minus Bluettoth for the 6100 of course ). They all will detect the brush head type in use, they all have three intensity settings, all the batteries will last weeks between recharges, and all clean my teeth really well. If the SenseIQ cleaned my teeth a lot better than the other two, I might say the price difference is justified. But really, neither me or my spouse can tell the difference. For a toothbrush costing three time as much as my 6100 and $100 more than the 9700 ( current prices ), I expect to see stellar results, and frankly I don't. The 9700 was also expensive when I got it, but at least it came with several brush heads and a tongue scrubbing paddle. The 9900 includes only one brush head in the box, and replacement A3 heads cost considerably more than the C2s I use now ( the 9900 can of course use the older brush heads, too ). As of now, there's also no compact model of the A brush head. Apart from cleaning performance, I also don't like many of the design elements of the 9900. The handle has touch sensitive areas instead of physical buttons for power and intensity, which I found easy to accidentally press while I was brushing my teeth. The charging base is also quite light, which doesn't stay planted well on the bathroom counter ( the weight of the cord alone is enough to move or prop it up when the brush handle isn't resting in it ). I also don't understand why Philips opted to give it a USB plug and adapter since you already get a USB charging travel case in the box. A fixed AC adapter wart would have been simpler and smaller. Perhaps a lab or a dentist could point out the cleaning improvement of thee 9900 over previous Sonicare models. I'm sure there are some people with uncommon but specific dental health needs that will see benefit to the 9900, or perhaps its feedback can help a lazy brushers scrub their teeth better. But I'm willing to guess most adults that already have a good tooth care regimen won't see a difference. For them, the 9900 is too much for too little.

      Hi Jaron,

thank you for leaving this elaborate review of the Sonicare 9900 Prestige. We greatly appreciate your feedback and will take note of it to further improve our products and services in the future. Nevertheless, we're sorry to hear that this model isn't what you expected. The Sonicare 9900 Prestige offers an abundance of features that aren't included in our other models, which also explains the price of the device compared to others. Thus, it certainly has the potential to give you a great clean and provide excellent results. However, we believe that each Sonicare has something to offer and that you could achieve a great clean from any of our other models as well. The Sonicare Prestige 9900 is designed for those who would like to elevate their brushing experience with the freedom of choosing from many useful features.

If You Really Care About Your Dental Health

The first thing I noticed about this Sonicare brush is it was almost 400 dollars. You can buy a Sonicare for 40 dollars. So, what is so special about THIS model? The answer is ‘plenty’ but to make it worthwhile you really need to care about your dental health, keeping track of how you brush, how well you brush, and how often. To do this, you need to install the free app on your phone. The purpose of the app is to keep track of your brushing and how well and how frequently you do. The app will give pointers and sometimes almost nag you into doing well by your teeth, pointing out if you’re ‘scrubbing’ (which you do not need to do with a Sonicare brush) and if you’re pushing the brush too hard against your teeth. It will then log each time you brush and how long into the app. Included with your Sonicare is their most premium brush head, the A3 Premium, which is designed for better plaque and stain removal than their other brushes. The brush ‘times’ your brushing with little pauses, 6 times as you brush, to remind you to move the brush to a different area. I find that helpful because in addition to making sure you brush long enough, it helps keep you from missing certain areas which you might without this feature. Also included is a simulated leather carrying case which will also charge your brush via a USB-C port when you’re on the road. The biggest negative is that sometimes I found that the app is somewhat ‘buggy.’ If you don’t remember to keep your phone nearby with the app open, it won’t record your brushing that day, and once for me even when it WAS turned on it ‘missed’ it. There’s no way to correct the information manually if it is missed. This does not seem like something that could not be corrected by an app update in the future, however. Overall it’s up to you to decide whether to spend this much on your toothbrush. If you do, there are enough premium features in this Sonicare to not make you regret your decision.
