Loved my old AirFlosser, but not this one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My much-beloved 3-year-old AirFloss HX8240A died and needed to be replaced, so I shopped around for a new one. The AirFloss Ultra was on sale at Best Buy and so I ordered one. I've been really disappointed. The AirFloss Ultra has a redesigned nozzle that is very difficult for me to position between my teeth because it has a collar of rubbery plastic sticking out from around the harder plastic nub where the liquid shoots out. My old AirFloss had no such collar and was very easy to position between my teeth. The nozzles that I prefer do not fit the AirFloss Ultra, so I have to use the ones with the collar. Also, compared to my old AirFloss, the single/double/triple jets of liquid do not seem as powerful, leading to just so-so flossing. Maybe the rubbery collar is getting in the way? In any case, I'm really disappointed and am going to try purchasing the cheaper AirFloss (not-Ultra) to see if it performs like my old HX8240.

It's Okay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thought it would dart out water or mouthwash in one powerful stream. It shoots out one, two, or three darts at a time. Still works okay.

Amazing Water Flosser
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic water flosser, I love the light weight and small design that fits perfectly in your hand. Also like that it holds a charge for over two weeks meaning you don't really have to leave it on the charger and therefore takes up less space on your counter. And of course it does a great job of flossing your teeth.

The worst product in 30+ years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As Dontana recently stated, the AirFloss Ultra is a very broken product. I have a lot more experience than most with this Sonicare Product. I've had 3 of them and they were all different product numbers. The largest failure rate was the internal pump. It will go bad after time. As someone else stated "banging the bottom of it on a flat surface" may be a workaround (and a sad workaround at that) if you're lucky but it will fail eventually. If you dig and do research you will see there are numerous versions of this second generation Airfloss product. It has a lot of problems. The first one I had lasted about 4 months. The "bang workaround" worked once or twice before it died. While using it if the pump skips a moment while in use this is a telltale sign that it will likely go out. Once it is completely dead you'll press the button to start it up and hear the tiny ring sound but nothing will pump. My second pump lasted about 9 months. The pump died in it too but before it broke a tiny IMPORTANT piece fell off of it and I had to keep reattaching it to keep using it. I didn't want to take it in right away because at least the pump was working....until it wasn't. This important piece that fell off was a very cheap design. Notice that small band of silver that attaches the air floss hose to the unit itself? It isn't glued or permanently in place. It can pop off. It's a cheap plastic ring that is used as the adapter between the body of the flosser and your floss head. A lot of people may not even experience the problem because they don't remove it often (keeping your floss head clean will avoid nastiness). I remove it so that it can properly be hit with a UV light kit I have from my Sonicare toothbrush set. After enough time taking it on and off the unit.....pop goes your ring. Hope it doesn't fall down the drain! The third and final unit only lasted two months. The same problem with the pump. All 3 units were completely different versions. Also, as a test, I only used the Sonicare mouthwash product that came with it for the third unit. I wanted to be sure it wasn't an issue with using other mouthwash products or that it didn't like the quality of my water. It still failed. Another note for all users of this product. Look inside the unit where you pour your mouthwash/water. Look down at the bottom of the chamber and you'll see a hole where the liquid flows into the Airfloss. Depending on what your using (water, mouthwash) you may also see stuff that hasn't cleared out and may have set in your unit making it a little unsanitary. It's good to check it to ensure it is clean periodically. My recommendation is to stay away from this product and go back to the original Airfloss. They actually sell for more on the web because they work and are hard to come by. If Airfloss version 3.0 ever comes out it may be worthwhile to check it out again. If you do purchase the Airfloss Ultra then buy the Best Buy 2 year warranty. You MUST buy it! The nice thing about their policy is that you can bring in your dead unit and pick up the newest version right off the shelf but you'll have to pay the difference if it is higher than your previous one. Also, if you return it you do not have to use the refunded money on another Airfloss Ultra. You can use it on another product if you want to which is what I did and purchased a Waterpik Wireless unit. I'm not promoting Waterpik in any way. They have their own problems with wireless as where you plug the unit in will always get water into it when you use it wirelessly and eventually build corrosion in it until the plug can no longer generate a charge. Here's hoping it at least lasts the two year warranty! :)

This Product Is Defective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product last month and it has already stopped working. When I called Sonicare for a replacement they told me that they couldn't replace the item, only refund my money. The reason given was that the product has had serious problems and they are developing a replacement. I wouldn't object too much about a refund except Sonicare told me it would take six to eight weeks to get my money back. I purchased this item directly from Sonicare and they didn't give me six to eight weeks to pay them. I feel this is very poor customer service for an item they admit is defective.

Effective, but I on my 4th replacement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, this product works very well. If you want a fast and effective way to floss your teeth, this is a great option. That being said BUY THE GEEK SQUAD PROTECTION. I have returned 3 of these units for a warranty defect where the product stops working and only makes a beeping sound. Since GSP is awesome, I have just been swapping them out at best buy without fulfilling my service plan. If I had to mail the unit back to Phillips myself, I would be much more upset.

Manufacturing defect?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product in mid December and it stopped working in early March. To Philips credit, they immediately replaced it with very few questions asked. Since they did not request I return the defective unit, I opened the case in order to dispose of the battery and found the inside saturated with the mouth wash I use with the product. Hopefully this was just a one off manufacturing problem but only time will tell. However, it operated as hoped for when it was working.

Two devices failed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it works (first device = 6 weeks), it's great. Then it stops working. When replacement (free from Philips) works, 3 days, it's great. Then it stops working. Should I bother staying on HOLD for 30 minutes again with Philips? Or, just give up on the product? I think giving up is the best solution.

Posted .Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's a shame to hear that your Airfloss has stopped working repeatedly, and that our service has not been satisfying. This is certainly not the quality we wish to provide, which is why we would like to investigate the error further and hopefully get to the root of it.

Messy..waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I personally feel like this was a waste of money I had my eye on this since Phillips first introduced it onto the market I have been wanting this for a while but it was out of my budget I was recently able to afford this upon recommendation of my dentist for getting an air flosser this one is so messy to me I got it because I have dental implants and was hoping that this would help keep them clean as soon as I started using it yes you can fill the little burst but I felt like the burst would not coming through my teeth or my dental implants first time using it the mouthwash as it was bursting into my mouth was coming out of my mouth even with it being closed I felt like you couldn't even do your whole mouth without this being messy smh..i will hsve to order one with smaller head.

Posted .Hi there,
thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We're sorry to hear that your experience with the AirFloss wasn't positive. You mentioned that you feel like the water or mouthwash isn't getting through your teeth, so we recommend adjusting the burst modes if you haven't done so already. To change this, press the power button continuously until you reach your desired mode. You can see which mode you're on from the LEDs (single burst: 1 LED, double burst: 2 LEDs, triple burst: 3 LEDs). For optimal results, we recommend using the triple burst mode (default setting) from both the outside and inside of your teeth. Moreover, please make sure that you are holding the device correctly in your mouth. The nozzle tip should be placed between your two teeth at the gum line and your lips should be slightly closed over the nozzle to avoid any splashing. We hope these tips are helpful.

Weak, ineffective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pressure is weak, it manages to splash a little water or mouth wash on your teeth and isn't even effective at removing food particles from the surface of teeth. I've had mine less than 24 hours and will be returning it as soon as the store opens in the morning.

Terrible Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've called customer service in order to get support, after providing the details about what was going on, I was requested to do some troubleshooting in the device. I told the person that I was calling from the office and the device was not with me. The person told me to call later as the troubleshooting process is mandatory. I have requested to talk to the manager and the person just hung up on me. This is the second and last product that I buy from Philips.
