I was looking to purchase an electric toothbrush and was happy to review this one. First off I like the fact it comes with a charge so you can use it right away and the charge overnight after the first time. The timer function is good as most don't brush long enough. All 3 setting have different times depending on your choice. The only downfall I see to it this far is if your mouth isn't closed toothpaste goes everywhere. It does leave your teeth feeling much cleaner than a traditional toothbrush does. The charge lasts a good long while and it let's you know to charge it beforehand if you pay attention to the light. The fact it lights up anytime it is touched is also a nice feature for someone like me who tends to knock things over in the dark. I like pressure sensor feature as it stops if your pushing to hard. I think they have made a lot of efforts with this brush to help people have good dental hygiene with minimal effort/thought on the part of the consumer.

This toothbrush does not work quite right. I have used Sonicare in the past, this is to replace a almost 5 year old one which always worked great, just wore out. I will probably have to get a replacement soon for this one.

Greta toothbrush overall. Literally at the year mark the metal head of the brush was broken. The warranty will not cover this.

I had an Oral-B electric toothbrush that I thought was amazing, until I tried this toothbrush. The technology that goes into the sonic vibrations of the Sonicare, are far superior to the almost mechanical feel of the Oral-B. When I was trying the 6100 out, I judged it based on ease of use, ability to clean, and overall technology. It is very easy to use. Out of the box, you charge it on the provided charger and wait until it is ready. It also comes with a handy travel case, which is common with all models these days. Also common is the two minute interval timer. I have not used a toothbrush that does not have such a timer, with the exception of helping my daughter brush with her “trolls” toothbrush. You simply brush in one quarter of your mouth for 30 seconds and you will feel a different pulse when it is time to move to the next section. Easy as it gets. It cleans VERY well. I think superior to my Oral-B as I previously mentioned. Both clean well on the surface, but I feel the 6100 really gets between the teeth and in the hard to reach places like behind your back molars. It does not hurt my gums at all. Also, it has three modes. Clean, White and Gum Care are the three different modes, and there are also three different intensities. So in essence there is a mode for everyone. As far as the tech goes with the 6100, it pretty cool. First off, I like the fact it has a sensor between the head and the smart handle. It will tell you when you need to replace the head, and I have not seen that before. It seems like something that would be pretty obvious as a feature, but I have never had a brush with that sort of feature. I like that idea. Also, if you brush too hard, the brush will make a pulsating sound to remind you to back off a little. Very smart. I have to says it will literally give you that fresh from the dentist feel to your teeth. Like they are polished. I do caution you to make sure to keep the 6100 in your mouth while it is on, as it is very intense and will shoot toothpaste all over if you don’t. I am not a big fan of cleaning off my mirror twice a day, so take the little bit of advice. Given that small consideration, this thing is amazing and worth the investment in your oral health. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I love how well 6100 works. My teeth feel clean hours after I brush. I don think I will ever use a manual toothbrush again.

My experience with power toothbrushes is limited to just this one, but the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 is a great device. I prefer now using a power toothbrush over a manual, and so I expect my experience to grow in time. In the box, you get a charging base, the toothbrush handle, a cap, and a W DiamondClean brush head. The ProtectiveClean 6100 is designed to detect which type of brush head is attached via a microchip in the brush head that communicates with the handle. The handle automatically selects the suggested mode and intensity levels, so it's ready to go without needing to manually change any settings. With that said, the toothbrush should already have some charge in it for a quick start. All you need to do is attach the brush head, which is very easy to do, and press the power button. If you prefer a more control, you can change the mode and intensity yourself with a few button presses on the front. The box claims that the ProtectiveClean 6100 is capable of 31,000 brush strokes per minute. I don't know if this is true, but based on how clean my teeth feel and look after brushing, I don't worry about that number so much. What's great is that you do not need to apply a lot of pressure, and if you do, the vibration of the handle will change to alert you that you're using too much pressure, as it can sense this. I haven't fully tested the white mode or gum care modes, and so I cannot review much of that. I can say that they don't feel much different than the standard clean mode. The manual makes mention of optimal brush heads for each mode if you'd like to be thorough as possible when cleaning your teeth or gums. One feature that I'm still unsure of is the quadpacer. The timer built into the handle has a short beep and pause to let you know when you should begin a new section of your mouth. The cleaning mode lasts for two minutes before turning off. Though it's just a reminder, I often feel rushed and as if 30 seconds per quad isn't long enough, so I usually restart the toothbrush once it shuts off. Unlike the other features built into the ProtectiveClean 6100, this feature cannot be deactivated. This is probably my only real qualm with the product. Just like manual toothbrushes can wear over time and need replacing, so do the brush heads. The handle tells you when it's time to replace your brush head, which is very convenient. I haven't had to replace mine yet, so I can't comment on how long a brush head typically lasts. Overall, I really like this power toothbrush. I haven't gone back to a manual toothbrush and have no plans doing so. I love how clean my teeth look and feel after every use. My dental hygienist has a Sonicare product, and that says a bit, too.
