Posted .Hi Hawkeyegrad,
Thank you so much for leaving a review for us on here. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with your Sonicare ProtectiveClean toothbrush! If we understand you correctly, your Philips Sonicare Toothbrush is vibrating weakly or less powerful than before? You can view these possible causes and solutions to try and solve this issue yourself.
Some models come with the Easy-start feature activated. The Easy-start feature enables you to increase the vibrations over time to get used to electric brushing. Disable the Easy-start feature to increase the vibrations. You can find detailed instructions in the user manual that came with your Philips Sonicare Toothbrush to deactivate the Easy-start feature.
Furthermore, the vibrations of your Philips Sonicare Toothbrush weaken as the battery runs out. Fully charge your toothbrush to increase vibrations. It can take up to 24 hours to fully charge your Philips Sonicare Toothbrush. Be sure to use the original charger that came with your toothbrush.
Lastly, older brush heads can seem less effective or powerful while brushing. We recommend you to replace your brush head after 3 months of use.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.

Great upgrade from Oral B
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Oral B toothbrushes for several years prior to getting this Sonicare 6100 Protective Care toothbrush. In my opinion, the Oral B small round toothbrush heads perform better when you focus on each tooth. Even then, I had a couple spots that didn't feel as clean as they should have been, even after switching to a brand new brush head. But I had no problems from my dentist. I've read reviews of earlier Sonicare models where people have been quite disgusted when they finally clean their brush head. The Sonicare new brush heads are much easier to clean and much easier to keep clean. So I am thankful for that design change. To me, the Sonicare 'diamond' shaped brush head allows me to brush my teeth more like a manual toothbrush. That's supported by Sonicare's definition of a quadrant. Oral B's quandrant system is: bottom right, bottom left, top right, top left. Which is fine for such a small brush head. Sonicare's is: bottom inside, bottom outside, top inside, top outside. When I'm brushing my teeth with a manual toothbrush, It's done more like Sonicare's definition. In terms of cleaning power, I think the Sonicare 6100 has my Oral B model beat quite soundly. Admittedly, I have a cheaper Oral B model. I think its rated rotational count is somewhere below 8,000 oscillations per minute. The Sonicare 6100 has a whopping 31,000 pulses per minute. It takes a little getting used to the frequency change, but even after the first brushing session, the trouble spots I mentioned earlier were gone. Other features include: 2 minute timer (which turns off the brush, instead of Oral B's momentary stutter pulse), quad pacer where the brushing action pauses for a second to help you brush each quadrant of your mouth. 3 intensity settings, and 3 brushing modes (clean, white, gum care). The handle of the Sonicare is pretty sleek. It has a very fine matted texture. There is no other texture nor contours to help you grip the handle. Which is unfortunate because it is used in a wet environment so slipping is of concern. I also like that the indicator lights are very small. My Oral B indicator lights are large and pulse while recharging and it is quite annoying when I can see the pulsing light reflecting from my bathroom area. I am disappointed that the cost of the brush heads increases as I switch to the Sonicare line. To be honest, I could not tell the difference between the 3 brushing modes. I was expecting a different intensity between clean and gum care modes. After reading the instruction booklet, it seems these modes are paired best with different brush heads. To clarify, by pairing, I refer to the BrushSync feature where certain brush heads have an RFID chip added where the handle will pair and flip to the optimal mode for the attached brush head. I couldn't test that out with the single brush head that was included. I'm not sure I want to flip between different brush heads during my brushing sessions. I find the Brushsync feature rather gimmicky and it's not something I would seek out in my next electric toothbrush. I also found that the Sonicare gets a little messier while brushing. If I happen to hit a pocket of saliva, the Sonicare will spray it more so than the manual or Oral B brushes. Some of this could be resolved by changing some brushing habits. I'm really glad to have made the change to the Sonicare line. I hope that it continues to perform well for several years.

A MUST FOR HEALTHY MOUTH
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a Sonicare convert for years. I have been using the E-series (the cheap model) and it has been a blessing. You can immediately feel a "smoothness" on your teeth after switching to Sonicare from a manual toothbrush. So if you happen to be reading this and are on the fence about electric toothbrushes, if nothing else, get one, any one. But If you can afford it, this is the model to get. It's easiest for me to compare my e-series to this model. The e-series is bulky in comparison, both in the handle, toothbrush head and the charging stand. These are not knocks, just observations. They both operate for two minutes and then automatically shut off. This is a great feature, you never have to worry about how long you're brushing the handle does it for you. Now, in terms of straight performance (i.e. clean feeling mouth and teeth) I've already mentioned the noticeable difference between manual brushing and ANY electric toothbrush. But I must say, I could even tell a difference between the e-series and this ProtectiveClean Diamond brush. It performed even better. I could tell a difference after using it. Now onto the distinguishing features. This toothbrush comes with different modes, cleaning, whitening and healthy gums. To take advantage of those modes, however, you have to have separate toothbrush heads. Putting the cost of the heads aside, this is a pain. I haven't used them, but I can't see myself switching the heads back and forth for the long term. Maybe if you're gums are sore and you use the gum toothbrush head, but that's it. I don't see how a toothbrush IN AND OF ITSELF can make your teeth whiter. That feature to me, is a wash. But the toothbrush does have other nifty features (that require some thought to become muscle memory). You have 4 quadrants in your mouth (I'm not going to explain it, if you know it great, if you don't then guess) and the toothbrush vibrates indicating when you should switch to another quadrant. This is cool as it makes sure you get all of your mouth rather than say focusing on your back right molars because your right handed and don't think about it. But at the same time, it requires at least in the beginning, some mental processing because if you're like me, you don't typically brush your teeth in quadrants. It also vibrates if you're using too much pressure. This is something that will pay off in the long run. My wife's gums are actually receding in part because she brushes too hard. Now, I can't say that this feature will prevent it, I would like to think it's supposed to. And if nothing else, it makes you aware of it if you're brushing too hard. In terms of overall ownership costs, I was actually surprised that if you buy a 4 pack of diamond head brush heads, you are spending the same per head as the e-series. This was a big bonus for me because I do routinely install new brush heads every 3 months (via subscription on Amazon). It's about $10 per head which you should replace every 3 months, although this toothbrush supposedly tells you when to replace the head based on the pressure you use to brush your teeth and the frequency of brushing. The one big knock is that it doesn't come with a travel case. The listing online might say it does (I thought it did) it DOES NOT come with a case. That's a big deal to me, as I take my Sonicare with me when I travel. The battery lasts 2 weeks plus, so you don't generally have to take the charger with you when traveling but you need a case for it. Another plus is that the battery is replaceable. The e-series Sonicare, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, is not user replaceable. This bodes well for longevity of the product which is important when you are spending $120 on a tooth brush that you can get for 50 cents at the dollar store. All in all, if you care about your dental/oral hygiene you need a Sonicare toothbrush and this model is as good as any. You could get by with a standard e-series, but I actually like the "smart" features included in the 6100.

A Good Buy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 6100 is a very nice rechargeable toothbrush. It comes charged and ready to go right out of the box, though Philips recommends you charge it after first use. There are three intensity settings and three brushing settings, thus providing several combinations of choices for operation. It also features a timer program that beeps after about each 30 seconds of use to better ensure your brushing time is within recommended 2 minute timeframe for brushing. I can’t speak to whether the whitening function actually works, because I haven’t had the devise long enough to know that. However, combined with a whitening toothpaste, it probably is effective. While I like the 6100, there are two things I consider shortcomings, hence the 4 star rating. First, an annoyance: the brush itself is very small, and the first couple of times I tried using the device, the toothpaste fell off before I got it into my mouth. So, I use extra care in getting it to my mouth. Second, the 6100 comes with only one brush. If you are sharing the device with anyone or just need a replacement for yourself, you will need to purchase new brushes, and they can be a bit pricey. Overall, the 6100 is a good product, and I would recommend it with the caveat of the two things I deem shortcomings. If they wouldn’t bother you, go for it.

Top Notch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm using this toothbrush as a replacement for an Oral B electric toothbrush, and while I prefer that one overall because of the smaller brush heads, this Sonicare toothbrush is a great option. The first thing I noticed about it is how high quality it immediately felt. This thing is built to last. It also has awesome battery life (I have yet to recharge after a week or so of use). Most importantly, though, this toothbrush does a great job cleaning my teeth. My mouth feels noticeably cleaner than after using my previous toothbrush. This is my first "sonic" style toothbrush and I can now see why they're popular. The two issues I had with this is that my package showed up unglued (top and bottom), and I also didn't receive any type of carry case with it, which really should be included. Otherwise, this is a great option for anyone looking to get a new toothbrush.

Posted .Hi, Joyce. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are not sure what you mean by not working very well. The sensor was developed to prevent brushing too hard, as it can damage your teeth and gums. To prevent this, the Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean emits a soft pulsing sound to remind you to press less hard. If it is not pulsing, that means you're doing well! Simply Awesome
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All Incan say is wow. I have never had teeth this clean other than going to the dentist. I have very sensitive gums and bleed easy. No bleeding and no pain with this tooth brush. The battery life is amazing as well. I forgot the charger on a week vacation and it never went low on power. All the settings make the world of difference as well. I have found that the whitening step 2 is the best clean for me. Replacement heads are cheap and nice to add a spouse to the setup. All I wish I could find is a better base that holds more heads. Great Job Phillips!

Fantastic upgrade from your old toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: * Feels like it does a fantastic job keeping my teeth+gums clean (I'll find out at my next checkup). * Timer is pretty helpful, especially when you're not completely awake yet in the morning. * Comes with a compact travel case and dust cap for the brush in the box. * Indicator light to show when to replace the toothbrush head. CONS: * Not really a con, but if I had to nitpick, the pitch from the motor is much higher than my previous electric brush (it sounds like there's an angry robo-bee in the brush). My previous electric brush was really starting to show its age, and I had to order all replacement heads online since local stores stopped carrying them, so I felt it was time for an upgrade. This new Sonicare is AMAZING. It looks+feels like it does a great job of keeping my teeth and gums clean and healthy. There's also a sensor in the toothbrush that will let you know if you're pressing down too hard. There's an indicator light near the battery light that shows when to replace the brush head. While the replacement heads aren't cheap, they only need to be replaced every three months, so it's not too bad. There's a coupon in the box that gives you 50% your first order of replacement heads if you join the Philips newsletter. I know it's something very minor, but I really appreciate that the travel case and brush cap are included in the box. It's a minor detail, but nice for Philips to pay attention to. If you're looking to switch from traditional toothbrushes to electric, or need to replace your old electric toothbrush, I highly recommend checking this one out.

Great Toothbrush!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips Sonicare is the 1st electric tooth brush I have owned and I'm impressed with how well it cleans. My mouth feels like I just had a cleaning at the dentist. And great for getting those hard to reach spots. I like the 3 levels of brushing and am noticing a big difference in how white my teeth are getting. It came with a full battery and has lasted almost 2 weeks so far. I wish it came with more than 1 head though and a carry case. It was very easy to start using and came with easy to follow instructions.

Great brush! Improves your oral health
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have some prior experience with Oral B electric toothbrushes, although the last one I owned was several years ago. I did not expect that much of a different experience with this new model, but I was wrong. Not that the ones I used in the past were bad, but this one clearly is improved. The build quality is excellent, feeling light, yet sturdy and solidly built. It feels good in the hand. You definitely have a sense this is a product that will survive your bathroom with all its moisture and hard surfaces. This can be said for the brush itself as well as the charger. As for the battery life from that charger, it is also excellent. The brush is rated for 2 weeks away from the base, which is a nice convenience, when needed, but I do find myself simply keeping it on the charger. It works best in my bathroom setup. Now, how does it, well, do its job? This is the most impressive part to me. In an age when there is an app and a gadget for everything, perhaps too many things, I feel this brush performs more than well enough to justify its use and cost. My teeth feel nearly dentist clean after every use. With how important, yet neglected, dental health is these days, having a product that improves that on a personal level is a wonderful thing. Between brushing aides, timers, modes, tracking, pressure feedback and simply the technology used in the brush itself, using this brush will absolutely lead to improved dental health. Yes, there is an upfront cost. Yes, there is the cost of replacement heads (which I find to be reasonable). That said, do you know where there are plenty of other higher costs? At the dentist, when you need work done due to improper care of your mouth. This brush is a small investment that pays for itself many times over and in many ways. Ultimately, this is a great toothbrush. It is well-built, has a very rich feature set, performs well (and intelligently), and is a great value. I can confidently recommend this brush to those looking to move from a manual, upgrade their electric or simply, anyone looking to improve their oral health.

Great 1st Electric Toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been wanting an electric toothbrush and I am very pleased with this product. It is lightweight and comfortable to hold. The only problem that I have is where the buttons are located. When I hold the brush, I am used to gripping my normal toothbrush, so I continuously pressed the button to turn off or change the settings. After my second/third time using, I did however, loosen my grip and brushed with ease and allowed the brush to do its job. I love the standard brush that comes with this product and there are quite a few options to buy for the replacement. (It is recommended to change the brush after 3 months of use.) I kept mine on the clean option and I love that the brush was small enough to get all the way in the back to my wisdom tooth with no problem. I kept the mode on clean but there is a white and gum care mode but it is recommended that you change the brush head to the specific brush for those modes. Beware, this particular model did not come with the travel case, so be sure to check the packaging and make sure yours comes with the travel case. The product does have enough charge for one use and then it should be charged for 24 hours afterwards. There is also an indicator light (amber light) for when it is time change the brush. Also beware, the brush head does not fit completely smooth with the body of the product, there will be a little gap. In the instruction manual there is also a guide on how to properly use the product for brushing all angles of your teeth. I highly recommend that you pay close attention for the best clean! I truthfully have no other negatives to this product and I would like to add that I love the timer that alerts me after 30 seconds to switch quadrants. It's really faint at first but after a couple of uses you will notice the beeps. After the first use, I did have a much cleaner feeling in my mouth and some of the areas in between teeth were even cleaner before flossing. Would I buy this product again? Absolutely! Would I recommend this product to friends and family? Yes!

a massage for the mouth!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once you use this brush for the first time, you will realize just how worth it it is. In fact I joked after my first use that my mouth just received a massage. I noticed after my very first use and continue to notice, that my mouth felt cleaner after the two minute timer than my mouth does after my usual 3+ minutes with my manual toothbrush or my knockoff $20 “sonic” toothbrush. That brings me to my next point, any electronic toothbrush I have used up to this point has been powered by a battery that needed to be replaced which came with a whole slew of problems like it dying quickly, having to tap the base on the counter a certain way to get the battery to sit better and have a connection, having to keep a seal clean so water does not get near the battery, I could keep going, but those days are long gone with this unit! It makes life so much easier to have this sealed unit that tells you when it needs a charge boost, never cuts out due to the battery not sitting right, it's just amazing, it seems small but it's just one less little frustration to have during the day. The brush’s different modes are easy to figure out as well as the intensity adjustment within the first minute of taking it out of the box, but it does come with a quick startup guide, and for those that like to read even more, a more detailed booklet that does give useful information is also in the box. It is also nice that this unit comes with a travel case as I noticed it is pretty large, especially lengthwise, compared to a traditional brush. My only minor complaint is that the brush head that it comes with is fairly small, I’ve gotten use to the small size but I still would prefer a larger bristle area. But I do see that there are several different sized brush head replacement options so that really is a minor complaint, the overall unit itself is great. This particular models technology and features are not so ridiculous and over the top, it is just enough to make your day to day life easier and even more enjoyable. I really recommend it.

Great Toothbrush, Questionable 'Upgrades'
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a long-time Philips Sonicare customer and I love their products. They last a very long time and do a great job at what they are intended to do. In addition to getting the ProtectiveClean 6100 to replace my previous Sonicare toothbrush I also purchased their Sonicare AirFloss Ultra. It may sound like I have issues but I just recently had an implant put in and it is a bit more complicated to take care of than I was led to believe. That being said, I do take care of my teeth very well and in my 40+ years of having teeth not a single one has ever had a cavity (humblebrag over). If you have ever used a Sonicare toothbrush or any of the other kinds of electronic toothbrushes, you will be well acquainted with how this one works. If you like you can go straight out of the box, put on some toothpaste, shove it in your mouth, hit power and clean away. The modes and intensities too me have always felt a bit too 'subtle'. I can tell it changes things up a bit but not enough to really change my experience. One of the benefits of the 6100 series is that the brush can now use some new brush heads with an integrated RFID chip that will set the brush to the optimal mode for brushing. I didn't notice this 'benefit' until after I had opened everything up and started reading the instruction booklet, but if I had noticed it I would have been wary assuming that this brush could only use these new fangled (and probably more expensive brush heads). To my pleasant surprise, I found that the old style brush heads fit/work just fine, which is good because I have a pack of them that I just recently purchased. A lot of times a company will make these upgrades to lock you in to more expensive and proprietary parts but Philips in this case is just giving you the option. That being said the RFID also syncs with the brush head to let you know when to change it out, though I've never really had a problem figuring that out and I'm sure that timetable is skewed to Philips' favor. My only real gripe about this RFID upgrade is that when you read the instructions is would seem that every style of brush head gets the same setting of level three intensity, it just changes the mode depending on the brush head type from the normal clean, to whitening, to gum care. All of these modes are really just set timings. The quadpacer feature gives you a cue to move to another quadrant of your mouth every 30 seconds for a full 2-minute routine, that is the normal clean mode. For white mode, it just adds 30 seconds to the end to polish up your front teeth some more, and in gum care mode it gives you a minute extra to use the brush to massage your gums. Great if you follow the quadpacer timings, but I'm pretty sure I've got this brushing thing down by now. One of the upgrades I did see that I was interested in and made me want this particular model was the pressure sensor to prevent you from beating up your teeth and gums. I have never been an overly aggressive brusher (my wife on the other hand absolutely destroys toothbrushes), but the dentist told me to be a little more careful than usual with the implant so I thought this might be a useful feature. It would be a useful feature if it didn't take an immense amount of pressure for the toothbrush to warn you. I have never brushed that hard in my life. I even had my wife put on her brush head to try it out and she even had to press harder than she normally does to get it to go off and like I said, she routinely gets yelled at by her dentist for her aggressive brushing. Perhaps I should talk to her... maybe she is taking out her pent up rage with me on her teeth. Oh well, that feature is pretty much useless. Here are just a few more likes/dislikes of this toothbrush from a longtime Sonicare toothbrush user: - Love that Philips has stuck with the same inductive charging base so I can use the UV disinfecting base that came with my previous brush or any of the other multitude of charge bases that I have. I also uses the same base as the AirFloss so I only have to take one with me on vacation (though charges usually last me a really long time - much longer than the 2 weeks that Philips states). - Love the new look of the brush, nice sleek and satiny. - Hate that that the new sleek and satiny finish is super slick and has fallen out of my hand twice already onto the floor (thank goodness for UV disinfection). The previous brushes had a rubber like back to them that was sticky enough to help you hold the brush. While I'm sure I'll adjust, it is annoying. That's it for the review, if you are a longtime Sonicare user or a first-timer, you will be very happy with this brush. It does its job, it does it well, and if my previous toothbrushes are any indication, it will do it for many years.

My first electronic toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first electric toothbrush and I'm liking it so far. Having the three power settings is nice because at first the lowest setting was about all I could stand. It seems to be pretty powerful. After a couple of days, though, I moved up to the next setting and am getting used to that. The only downside I've noticed so far is the cost of replacement heads. However, if it gets your teeth as much cleaner as they say then it's worth it to me. The weight and balance of the brush is just right so it's easy hold on to and maneuver around while brushing. The charging stand is sealed from water, is heavy enough it stays in place, and works very well to hold the brush when not in use. This model has three different modes (clean, white, and gum care) as well as the three different power levels for each. The brush does give you feedback if you're pushing too hard, although so far I haven't found myself doing that very often. The special sync heads are supposed to let the tool adjust correctly for the brush type, and it also keeps track of the usage so it'll remind you when to replace the head. If, like me, you plan to order more brush heads and switch off with your spouse then that will probably confuse the usage tracking. However, the brushes do still have the "reminder bristles" that fade with use so you can tell when to replace that way as well. This is a solid toothbrush that's fun to use and seems to get my teeth very clean. Time will tell if it's significantly better than brushing the old fashioned way.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never actually owned or thought about owning an electric toothbrush. However, my dentist has been recommending that I get one for several years now so here we are. It was very easy to assemble and comes charged out of the box. The first time I used it I didn't realize I had it on the highest intensity setting and I almost wrote it off because it was a bit much for me. I turned it down to the lowest intensity mode will gradually bump it up to the higher modes as needed. My dentist told me to hold the brush on each area for about 1-2 seconds then move onto the next. There is a timer built-in that will alert you subtly to move to the next quadrant of your mouth. You don't scrub your teeth like you would with a normal toothbrush. After each brush I can't help but notice how clean my teeth feel. I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't want to use this everyday except for the fact that it does not come with a travel case. One more tip, use a small amount of toothpaste and put the brush into your mouth prior to turning it on or else you might send toothpaste flying. =) Pros: Simple to use Timer to help you brush for recommended amount of time Charged out of the box Clean, Whiten, and Gum Care modes Brushhead Replacement Indicator Compact Charger Cons: Takes a few days to get used to. No travel case - only a small cap for brushehead
