Clean!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this Sonicare for a couple of days now and am very happy with the results so far. Honestly, there's a lot less effort required to brush your teeth well with a Sonicare, it basically does the work for you. With a manual toothbrush, I was always told to brush in small circular motions. Does anyone actually do that consistently? I usually just go back and forth. The Sonicare does all of that for you. I can literally feel the difference, my teeth feel smoother and cleaner. I also like that this brush has different settings, not only speed but also for Clean, White, and Gum Care. Now, you're supposed to have different toothbrush heads that optimize each setting, but so far I only have the one brush head that comes with it. But based on the results I'm seeing so far, I plan to buy the other heads as well. My one warning is to not go too fast when brushing. I have a somewhat smaller mouth and if I rush, it definitely isn't pleasant to have the back of the brush it your teeth. But overall this is an excellent product. I feel like Sonicare just keeps improving.

My first electric toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My dentist suggested that I get a high-quality electric toothbrush as I'm getting older and I want to keep my teeth! This one has lots going for it; it comes fully-charged (they say charge it for 24 hours after the first use), and it's super easy to use. It has three different cleaning modes and three different cleaning levels. It also has a timer so that you are sure to spend a consistent amount of time in each of the four quadrants of your mouth. So far it leaves my mouth feeling really fresh and clean, so it feels like it's doing a great job. The charger stand is really handy, and the charger and the toothbrush are both sealed, so there's no metal contacts. It comes with one toothbrush head along with a discount coupon to order more. I'm looking forward to see if the dentist notices any difference in my teeth or gum health.

The New Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 is FANTASTIC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned a few Sonicare electric toothbrushes over the years, going back to one of their first models. In truth, I’ve liked them all, with each “replacement” being better than the previous unit. Most recently, I’ve been using the HX6750…until I received the new HX685T (aka 6100). In so many ways, it’s a LOT better…although, in one particular way, it’s somewhat worse. Starting with what makes the HX685T/6100 better, the most important factors are the adjustable modes, as well as the adjustable intensity levels. Both models provide a feature for those new to electric toothbrushes, but whereas said mode is turned ‘on’ by default in the HX6750, it’s ‘off’ by default on the 6100. Personally, I believe defaulting to ‘off’ is better, as most people would probably dislike having to turn this feature off every time they get a new Sonicare. Getting back to the new features, there are three brushing “modes”: Clean, White, & Gum Care. “Clean” is the standard mode, which has been around for years, providing 2 minutes of “Quadpacer” brushing. “White” provides 2.5 minutes of brushing time (again, using “Quadpacer” timing), with the first two minutes moving the brush head in a different ‘pattern’ (to assist in removing stains), followed by the last 30 seconds in “Clean” mode. Finally, the “Gum Care” mode provides 3 minutes of brush time (I’m assuming, as I haven’t tried it yet, it also utilizes “Quadpacer” timing). As for the “Intensity” levels, it offers low, medium, and high. While the intensity levels can be changed while brushing, the mode must be selected prior to turning on the toothbrush. Another new addition is the inclusion of Sonicare’s “BrushSync” technology. Inside the base of the toothbrush head, a microchip has been imbedded. This allows two features to work. The first, Smart Replacement, is just what it sounds like…a notification of when it’s time to replace your head. This notification isn’t based purely on some pre-programmed period of time, but is determined by how often you brush, the length of time you brush each time you brush, and the type of head you’re using. Speaking of toothbrush head type, that brings up the microchips second feature, that being Smart Pairing. With previous electric toothbrushes, you typically had two types (soft & hard), with two length options (short & long). When it comes to Smart Pairing, there are (currently) seven options, broken into three “categories”: Premium, Optimal, & Specialty. I won’t give complete info on each head, but I will mention that the “Premium” line includes “Plaque Control (C3), Gum Care (G3), & White (W3), the “Specialty” line includes DiamondClean (W) & InterCare (i), and the “Optimal” line includes Plaque Control (G2) & Gum Care (C2). Based on their numbering system (current choices include ‘2’ and ‘3’), it’s safe to assume that there could very well be a forthcoming line with ‘1’ in the numbering system…but that’s just my guess. Quickly back to those imbedded microchips, they inform the toothbrush handle which head was inserted, and it automatically adjusts the “mode” & “intensity” to match the particular head. Of course, as with all heads (including those without embedded microchips, as they ARE still compatible with the 6100), you can adjust the “mode” & “intensity” to your liking/preference. Final thoughts: While I haven’t been using the Sonicare 6100 long enough to drain the battery, but I’d assume that it would last at least as long as any previous Sonicare model. Beyond that, I’m loving the new model. As great as the inclusion of different “modes” is, I’m thinking a lot of people will find the “intensity” levels more useful. Normally, one would stick to ‘high’, but, for those with occasionally sensitive teeth, being able to lower the intensity to ‘medium’, and even ‘low’ will be a HUGE benefit. I’ve been recommending Sonicare toothbrushes to people for many years now (even got my wife to switch from a “regular” toothbrush, to Sonicare), I would, most definitely, recommend the 6100, as well as any other Sonicare models including all these new features/functions. Some people complain about the high cost of electric toothbrushes, not to mention the higher-than-average cost of their replacement heads, but, let me ask you a question – HOW important is having good teeth to you? If you don’t care about your teeth, then you might as well stop taking care of them…stop brushing and stop flossing. On the other hand, if your teeth are important enough to you to seriously take care of, then spending some extra money on them is WELL worth it. Besides, after spending the thousands of dollars already spent on them (braces, crowns, bridges, fillings, etc), don’t you WANT to take great care of what you’ve spent your hard-earned money on? Do yourself a favor – get an electric toothbrush. And, if you want one that has been PROVEN to be “better”, get a Sonicare…better yet, get the 6100. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or somewhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

Best Electric Toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned 2 older versions of this toothbrush for over 10 years, so I’m already a fan. When I originally sought to purchase an electric toothbrush, research showed Sonicare appeared to be the top of the line, and from my experience, it still is. Once I started using Sonicare on a regular basis years ago, my dental hygienist confirmed that my teeth & gums were in far better shape than when I used a manual brush alone. The good news is: this new model keeps what works & incorporates some nice improvements. If you’re new to Sonicare, operation is very simple & easy. The unit arrives pre-charged; so it can be used instantly out of the box. It comes with one brush head which easily slides onto the handle. The handle has just 2 buttons—1 for turning the unit on/off & the other for selecting 1 of 3 brush modes (clean, white, or gum care). LEDs immediately illuminate when you pick up the handle, indicating the intensity level selected, the brush mode selected, the battery status, & whether or not you need to replace the brush head. A full instruction book is enclosed, but operation is intuitive if you’re not one for reading instructions. The new look is very sleek & hi-tech. The feel of the handle casing is much smoother than the older versions. One of the most notable improvements is to the brush head. With the previous models, I was often concerned that I might be applying too much or too little pressure with the brush head. I also wondered whether I might be overusing the brush head before replacing it, or underusing it & thus replacing a brush head too early. The new smart brush head takes away all the guesswork by incorporating a microchip in each brush head which syncs with the handle to track brush head wear for you. An advanced pressure sensor measures the pressure you apply while brushing. If you apply too much pressure, the toothbrush gives immediate feedback—changing the vibration & therefore the brushing sensation—alerting you of the need to reduce the pressure you’re applying. By measuring the pressure you apply & the # of hours of use, the system reminds you when it’s time to replace the brush head. The only downside is the need to keep a manual toothbrush handy just for brushing your tongue after you’ve finished brushing with the Sonicare. Overall, this is my top pick for an electric toothbrush.

My dentist will be pleased.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using an electric toothbrush since sometime around high school. It worked well enough and was definitely more effective at getting me to brush the recommended two minutes than any manual brush, but it was definitely starting to show signs of its age for a while before it finally gave up the ghost and refused to charge anymore. When I saw the Philips Sonicare brush I figured that it would be a worthy replacement just for the fact that it not only made sure you brushed long enough, but also made sure that you'd devote the correct amount of time to each area of your mouth. And my first impression is that wow, they've changed these A LOT since I was in high school. I had heard of ultrasonic toothbrushes before, but I had never really tried one. My first impression was, admittedly, shock. The thing buzzed so strongly that I splattered toothpaste all over the mirror and made my lips go numb. But then I went back, read the instructions very carefully, and tried again. And this thing is so much better than my old toothbrush that I'm kind of regretting that I didn't upgrade sooner! The hardest thing to get used to really is the experience of brushing your teeth with the thing. Unlike older brushes which had bristles that spun or brushed over your teeth, this one simply vibrates at a speed that I could only begin to imagine. While this can feel a little harsh on your lips, it's actually remarkably gentle on your teeth and gums. That part especially is worth the price of entry to me - my old toothbrush was thorough, but did have a tendency to leave my gums sore and bleeding from time to time. This one, so long as you use it with the light touch recommended in the operating manual, can go straight up to the gum line without irritating them at all, and that's with the brush head specifically designed for whitening your teeth. It's also got just about the right number of smart features for me. It doesn't have the ability to interface with an app, like some of the more expensive Philips brushes, but honestly I can't say that I think I need that. It does monitor the pressure you use when brushing (giving you a slight buzz if you're pressing down too hard) and uses that information to track the wear you're putting on the brush head so that it can advise you when you need to replace it. It also features an option to help you get used to the harsh vibrations if you've never used a brush like this before, where for the first fourteen uses it'll slowly scale up the intensity. I admittedly opted not to use that feature since I was more interested in getting the "clinical efficiency" boasted on the cover which promised to whiten your teeth within a week, but it's appreciated all the same. Unfortunately, I can't really speak to if the claim about it whitening your teeth holds up. They do certainly feel cleaner having been regularly using the brush for about a week, and there are a few spots that might have gotten a bit brighter than they were, but frankly it's hard to tell if that's actually the result of the brush or just the result of me looking for signs that it worked. I also have to say that I don't really care. This thing works so much better and is so much easier on my gums and sensitive teeth than the electric brush I was using before that I'm completely sold on it. If you're looking to establish a more enjoyable working relationship with your dentist, I don't think there's any way you can go wrong with this one!

Serious piece of healthcare equipment
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our family has gone through a number of electric toothbrushes over the years from the cheap throwaway types to higher end Oral B's. The Philips is quite a noticeable upgrade. While there are a number of feature improvements here, I think the higher frequency of pulsing (3100!) is probably the most useful in getting that clean fresh feeling. If you're upgrading from an older style, it's immediately apparent that you're using a better technology. Some of the other features are not necessarily new, but take a different approach - such as the two minute timer which turns the brush off (opposed to Oral B's momentary pulse), and the quad pacer which tells you to shift left or right, up or down. Same with the excess pressure notification, although the way the Philips operates at a higher frequency, you'll probably find a lesser need to press harder. I would like to try the varying modes, however that necessitates purchasing an additional brush pack. Each of the 3 modes requires an individual brush; the head identifies the brush that's currently installed and adjusts the mode accordingly. I'll probably try a different mode once it's time for a brush change (which is also timed.) They're not exactly cheap, at near $50 for a 4 pack, but then again, neither are the other brands. I usually look for a sale ahead of time. The lithium battery as opposed to Ni-Cad is great, NiCads not only don't last as long, but degrade over time, so I expect this unit will give me longer usable life. The other thing is bathroom counter space is always at a premium, as are electric outlets. As I'm getting at least a week's worth of charge at a time, I've actually placed the charging unit on a small shelf I have right outside the bathroom - leaving the plug free for daily use like the hair drier, shaver, etc. One small but appreciated feature - having a bathroom in close proximity to the bed, I was always annoyed after brushing my teeth, turning out the light & going to bed, only to be greeted by the flashing light of the charging. The light on the Philips is small & unobtrusive, and in any case, don't have to charge it that often anyway. That might sound a little trivial, but something I appreciated. If you're in the market for a new brush, this one is worth a look.

Philips ProtectiveClean 6100 is a winner!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit, I was a bit nervous to try using this new toothbrush. I have very sensitive teeth, and they are usually bothered by any dental tools that vibrate, as well as with temperature. The toothbrush comes with one head that can easily be removed, a plug-in charger, and the body of the brush. It comes fully charged, and the box says to charge it for about 24 hours after the first use. I did not read the instructions before using the toothbrush, and on Day 1, I quickly discovered that I should have. The power was so strong that I got toothpaste all over my face and in my eye. After wanting to quit using it after about 30 seconds, I realized that if you push the second white button (the circular button underneath the ON button), you can change the level of power. Brilliant. Day 2 was much easier than Day 1. I didn’t have any sensitivity problems after the first day, and this time I knew that I shouldn’t start on the highest level. I was on Level 2 for almost the whole time, and then switched to Level 1 at the end. I have been using the toothbrush for three days, and I really like it. I feel that my teeth are cleaner than they usually are. I have noticed that my teeth are starting to become a bit whiter. I am a coffee drinker, and my teeth are stained from that. Thanks to the toothbrush, I think the stains are becoming better. My teeth also felt a bit smoother. I have had zero sensitivity concerns, which is an amazing result! I am looking forward to continuing with the toothbrush!

Makes brushing feel right again
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Philips Sonicare - ProtectiveClean 6100 electric toothbrush is the first electric toothbrush that I've owned. I have to say that this was the right decision to make, as it has multiple settings that allows the user to adjust for: clean, whitening, and gum cleaning. It also allows you to adjust speed. I am a coffee drinker, and after using the Philips Sonicare - ProtectiveClean 6100 electric toothbrush, I have noticed that it does a really good job at removing stains on my teeth and leaving them much shinier than a regular toothbrush. It's also very easy to use. I would definitely recommend this electric toothbrush to anyone.

Great Technology for a Toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firstly, I just wanted to say that the amount of extra technology features for the price of this model is great! The key feature I was very impressed with and was great to have was the pressure sensitivity in that the handle would vibrate when I was brushing too hard and with having sensitive gums this feature is definitely a great change of pace compared to typical electric toothbrushes. This ties into the ability to actually have 3 modes, which essentially comes down to 3 intensities, but if your teeth or gums one day may be sore there is the ability to decrease the sensitivity by switching to the “gum care” mode. There are numerous features that come with all electric toothbrushes nowadays, but these 2 definitely stood out to me while using this toothbrush. The asthetics of the toothbrush are also great which is a welcome sight since it sits on our bathroom counter at all times and its nice to have a quality looking product, but the actual carrying case that is including is great to have while traveling so that you can take it with you hassle free without having to take a traditional toothbrush or figuring out how to cover the brush head. Overall, this toothbrush is definitely worth it for the money as I had used a couple cheaper model electric toothbrushes in the past, but I have definitely learned to just buy a good quality product that will last when it comes to something like this that we all use everyday.

This is a Must Buy for Dental Health
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know a lot of reviews tend to skew toward the positive, but folks when I say this Sonicare toothbrush is a must buy, I mean it! It comes with all you need to charge and operate this little jewel. The charging stand is about the size of a half dollar and the toothbrush just stands on it to charge. The toothbrush itself as several modes for whitening, cleaning and others and also has "pause" built in so you know it's time to move to a different section of your mouth. The brush head is equipped with an RFID chip to identify if it is the right brush for that model, what it's goal is, if you're brushing too hard and to tell you it's time to get a new one. Exchanging the brush heads is really simple, just a quick pull or push. But the most important part, does it clean well? Absolutely! In fact, I think my teeth are actually cleaner than when I leave my Dentist's office. This thing vibrates at speeds I could not replicate if I wanted to. It gets rid of all plaque and debris quickly and leaves a good clean feeling. A new user might need to start out a little slow to get used to the vibration, and never take the brush out of your mouth when it's running; it makes a mess quickly if you do. By far the best toothbrush I have ever owned and well worth it's price! Good Shopping!

Great Toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup is a cinch: Install the brush head, and away you go. My brush arrived fully charged and the handle automatically configures itself to the particular head you install. Based on the mode selected, the handle will guide you through your brushing routine. It will alert you to if you are applying too much pressure, alert you when to switch to a new quadrant in your mouth, and shut off automatically when you should be done. It took me some time to adjust my routine to match that of the brush, but I believe my results are now better because of it. This is my first electric toothbrush. As such, it did take me some time to acclimate to the recommended high-intensity setting. But after using it this way for awhile, my mouth feels dentist-office clean all the time now. One other thing to consider: The smart brush heads that go with this handle are currently pretty expensive...and there's only one in the box. It may be possible to use a non-smart generic with the handle, and just select the mode yourself, but I have not been able to verify this yet. If the handle does still work with a generic, you would lose the auto-settings and head replacement warning. That said, the product is solid and the results are worthwhile.

Best toothbrush E-V-E-R!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using a manual toothbrush for basically my entire life, I didn't know what I was missing with a sonic toothbrush. This toothbrush creates 31,000 brush-strokes per minute. Why is this important? Other than the obvious - it whips your toothpaste into a micro-foam, letting it get in between your teeth and under the gumline. After using it for just a couple of days now, I can notice a big difference already. My teeth basically sparkle! I have some relatively sensitive dental work, and this does not bother it one bit. In fact, it will alert you if you are pressing too hard. All you really have to do is turn it on, and gently move the brush back and forth. If there is one negative, I would have to say to make sure you do not accidentally hit your teeth with the back of the brush. This isn't really a design flaw, but more of a person getting used to using the brush. It doesn't hurt when this occurs, but if it occurs at 0630 in the morning, it *will* wake you up! All in all, this may just be the perfect sonic toothbrush out there. Sure, there are other budget brands that are cheaper, but you aren't getting the best brushing then. Pick this up!

It's a very smart toothbrush
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ProtectiveClean 6100 Rechargeable Toothbrush Included- Handle, Smart brush head, travel cap, Charging base, instructions, and 2 year warranty. This new Sonicare toothbrush looks clean and sleek. The toothbrush is super smart. It will custom clean your teeth depending on what settings you choose. There are 3 cleaning modes- clean, white and gum care. There are also 3 different intensity settings- low, medium, high. It has the technology to tell you when to replace your brush head, notify you when you are brushing too hard and need to reduce the pressure, and has a timer that beeps every 30 seconds to help you brush all four areas of your mouth. This brush has pretty much every smart option available without having to use the Sonicare app with their Smart toothbrush. I actually prefer this one because of that. I don't want to have to rely on the app to see my brushing results and have it work to it's fullest ability if it's paired with the phone. I like that this Sonicare offers me all the settings on it's own. It's not complicated. I can have the cleanest teeth and all the cleaning options.

Just the Right Amount of Options
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Philips Sonicare toothbrush over the years, and so far it is my favorite. It has just the right amount of options (I don’t need my toothbrush to connect to a smartphone app), but enjoy being able to choose between different modes depending on how my mouth and teeth look and feel. The whitening mode is my go to, as it really does keep surface stains from building up. I use the standard cleaning mode on the highest intensity every other day to get a deep clean in. Haven’t really found much use or enjoyed the gum massaging mode, but it’s an option for those of you who might be in need of that. This is the first Sonicare toothbrush I’ve had that keeps track of how long you’ve been using the brush head, which is great for those of us who have too many other things going on in life to keep track of when to replace our toothbrush. Very useful. All in all, this is the “sweet spot” across all of the models they offer, I feel.

A great teeth cleaning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical about how well an electronic toothbrush would clean. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Sonicare cleaned my teeth. It took a few brushes to get used to the feeling of an electric toothbrush, but now it feels natural. The Sonicare really cleans your teeth leaving them feeling smooth - almost as smooth and clean as when you leave the dentist. I also didn’t realize how little time I spent brushing my teeth with a standard toothbrush. The Sonicare will turn off after 2 minutes of brushing. It seems like an eternity which tells me I never brushed my teeth long enough. If you want a good teeth cleaning, look no further than the Sonicare toothbrush!

Powerful.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this tooth brush. First use I was surprised on how powerful it is, felt like I was at the dentist getting a teeth cleaning. You can adjust the intensity on it 3 levels. I had it on the highest. I prefer the second level. I like the different modes, cleaning, whitening, and gum care. The brush head is replaceable and the tooth brush will notify you when it ready to be replaced. I like that it will shut off by itself after use. It comes pre-charged so you can use it straight out if the box. The charge base is minimal so it won't take up much space on your counter.
