    I had this pioneer for 12.5-13 months before it completely gave up the ghost. It started by randomly crashing when I would adjust the volume, but rather quickly the head unit switched to not being able to function whatsoever without freezing. Best of all? The warranty is 1 year, and mine bricked in 13 months. Apparently pioneers all have this issue on their solder connections, which can cause them to fail. If I was doing my stereo all over again, I would have never bought a pioneer.

    A great radio but it has a common where the shoulder joint goes bad and after a year but for the first year it work great but then quits working

    Worked perfectly the first week. The second week it acted glitchy. Come to find out everyone's phone did some kind of update and the features are now disabled on it. Paid around 325.00 for it. Salesperson told us no returns when we bought it. He must have known something we didn't. Money down the drain!

    BAD HEAD UNIT BEWARE

    I bought this head unit March 2022 and it failed today February 2, 2024. It only has a white screen with colored vertical lines. Nothing works. I’ve bought other Kenwood products and have not had this issue. I wish I had gotten the geek squad warranty because it only comes with a one-year factory warranty. Do not buy this head unit!

    Terrible product, do not buy. This product started glitching out within a year and after a year the screen went totally white. Pioneer's response? The warranty is only good for 1 year and you have to pay to send it to our service center and we don't know how much you have to pay, you'll need to contact a different d epartment

    Poor sound

    This was a replacement for a sony. Big mistake. The sound quality is terrible. Can not adjust the sound to meet what the sony had. I am returning this. Will wait for sony head units return to stock.

    Garbage after 1 year amd warranty just ran out

    Worked as it shoud and just after the year warranty it started doing all kinds of stupid stuff. Will lock on a screen amd freeze. Sometimes just gives a white screen with thin vertical color lines. When this happens at night the radio will blind you. It actually works very lttle now. So frustrating. Will never buy a pioneer again. Used to be my favorite. Now just junk. I see other people having same issue after several months

    You can only connect you phone to the Apple play car via Bluetooth, it keeps cutting off.

      The DMH-1770NEX does not support wireless Apple CarPlay or wireless Android Auto.
      You need to connect your phone via the USB cable. PUSATechAnswers

    Known Defects - Do Not Purchase This Model

    Please be aware that this Pioneer model has known defects, including: constant rebooting, the unit being unresponsive/frozen, and a fully white screen. Best Buy AutoTech team did try to resolve via a firmware update, but the issues persisted. After being redirected to Pioneer support, the only option for assistance was to pay to send the unit to California for a potential repair. Save your money by purchasing a different unit.

    I've had this in my car for less then 5 months and it's not been working correctly for at least 2 months. I've called pioneer and their answer is to take the unit out and send it off to California for "repairs". Not Best Buys fault, but I'll never buy another pioneer product again.

    Staticky bad sound

    My truck stereo sounds worse than it did with the factory head unit. I had the head unit installed in February and I noticed that the audio didn’t sound right. I messed with the settings on the stereo and made it sound a little better. I figured it was my factory speakers so I ordered new pioneer speakers and installed them. This didn’t fix it either. I don’t know whether it is the head unit or the install. Not very pleased.

    Do not waste 400 on this. This is the second on ive had and its unbelievable that you can only get a years use out of it. 2 months after the 1 year warranty expires the same rhing happens. Screen has lines through it and it is now just a useless piece of equipment in my truck.

    Not great sound ... 14 months and it's now dead

    Radio installation was a pain. The radio sounded great in the mid to high range, but was unable to properly use the factory subwoofer in the car. The vehicle had an existing Pioneer system from GM with 10" subwoofer. The bass was extremely lacking and sounded like crud. Fast forward 14 months and here comes the white screen of death.
