    Word great. Installer was very knowledgable with the set up. This is a surprise for my wife, she will love it. Easy to read and operate while she is alone. The unit looks like it was factory installed. My wife can automatically answer calls hands free. The maps are from apple so asking Seri to find a driving route while speaking through the car speakers is a big plus. Asking Siri to send a text is Easy.

    It didn’t come with USB cord for Apple play. Other than that the sound is amazing

    This was a gift for my brother, installed on 2005 ford truck, I've heard complaints of the plastic screen being unresponsive or melting in hot conditions, but it's lasted in the Texas summer heat, my only complaint is that the volume is a touch screen button instead of a standard dial, kind of awkward to change the volume but once you hit the button once a slider appears.

    Did a self-install in my Camry. Works pretty well. I had to buy a Metra 70-8113 wire harness because of the JBL system in the car. The Metra 70-1761 did not fit

    Hopefully the 2nd stereo isn't an issue. 1st went out in 2 years I was glad I had geek squad protection. Getting the runaround from The geek squad guys with the car stereo isn't helping matter.... I rebought the pioneer in-dash stereo and was told they had a problem in the early 2000s but after 2024 they fixed it. So I'm just awaiting my reinstall coming up soon.... Hard to get an appointment and having a couple issues hopefully they work out smoothly.

    Bought this to upgrade my 2008 Honda Element and had a local shop install it for me. Overall it works as advertised, giving it 3 stars because the USB-A extension cord that is provided with the unit - doesn't always work properly when I connect my phone. Also, the auto-dim for day and night driving doesn't work - not sure why, but it just doesn't work. I'm forced to manually change EVERYTIME I drive, super annoying. The screen is also barebones, and the options/settings are light. But you get what you pay for and it's working well enough for my needs.

    No wireless CarPlay.

    It’s a decent head unit however the CarPlay is wired. So for me it was the reason I returned the unit.

      You are correct, the DMH-1770NEX does not support Wireless Apple CarPlay or Wireless Android Auto. You would want to consider the DMH-W2770NEX, DMH-W3000NEX, or the DMH-W3050NEX. PUSATechAnswers

    The selection of car stereos was informational to choose and to know that the Geek Squad is there for us at anytime. The ease of setting up for the radio to be installed was easy and the techs were very professional. I am currently looking now for a car stereo for my car as this Pioneer Receiver was for my wife for Christmas! Thanks to all great job!!

    Radio was installed through Best Buy and didn't last 2 years. Very disappointed in the product. We splurged and purchased a more expensive radio and what we thought was a good brand but after about a year and 1/2 it started glitching and now doesn't work at all.

    I bought a used unit, I had to return it because it didn’t have a aux port adapter included. When they sold it they said it did, but I think that’s was just not noticed as missing. Happens sometimes with used units ig. Overall the unit itself though was pretty good. Decently bright, had a capacitive touch screen, not one of those squishy resistive screens.

    Best Upgrade for 2004 GMC Sierra 1500

    Have to say I thought I was spending a little too much for this stereo, but it was worth the upgrade. Now I don't have to keep looking in my phone for directions. Free installation included, so saved me some time. Mic is perfect, apple carplay and android auto work perfectly. Couldn't for anything better, not only that didn't even have to upgrade my bose speakers, you can really hear the difference from the stock radio.

    Unit works as advertised. Only problem is with the USB-A to USB-C connection. You need to use specific cables if you have a phone with a USB-C charge port. Pioneer is aware of the problem and posted a "fix"

    Bad product that only passes because of AA/Carplay

    The Pioneer 1700/1770 will be the downfall of Pioneer as a car audio brand. The failure rate is extremely high. Sadly, this is the new Pioneer after they got bought out by private equity in 2019. Then after the pandemic, and their key supplier factory burned down, they were forced to redesign their units to use inferior quality components simply so they could put a product to market. It's why I no longer recommend Pioneer, although if you can get a hold of product from prior to 2019 it's still good. and USB -A in 2024? yikes, it can't even fast charge my phone in use, and of course it's wired
