    Known Defects - Do Not Purchase This Model

    Please be aware that this Pioneer model has known defects, including: constant rebooting, the unit being unresponsive/frozen, and a fully white screen. Best Buy AutoTech team did try to resolve via a firmware update, but the issues persisted. After being redirected to Pioneer support, the only option for assistance was to pay to send the unit to California for a potential repair. Save your money by purchasing a different unit.

    I've had this in my car for less then 5 months and it's not been working correctly for at least 2 months. I've called pioneer and their answer is to take the unit out and send it off to California for "repairs". Not Best Buys fault, but I'll never buy another pioneer product again.

    Staticky bad sound

    My truck stereo sounds worse than it did with the factory head unit. I had the head unit installed in February and I noticed that the audio didn’t sound right. I messed with the settings on the stereo and made it sound a little better. I figured it was my factory speakers so I ordered new pioneer speakers and installed them. This didn’t fix it either. I don’t know whether it is the head unit or the install. Not very pleased.

    DONT BUY CAR STEREO FROM BEST BUY!! JOKE!! Fail!

    The “free installation” is a HUGE joke!! Don’t fall for it!! Yes the install is free… but not the entire install! The stereo you buy most likely in newer cars has steering wheel controls etc.. about 6 connections are needed.. well they charge you for them and charge you to install them. My service would’ve been more than the radio itself!!! The guy in the radio install garage was a huge jerk!!! Save your money!! Go somewhere else! Trust me!

    Not great sound ... 14 months and it's now dead

    Radio installation was a pain. The radio sounded great in the mid to high range, but was unable to properly use the factory subwoofer in the car. The vehicle had an existing Pioneer system from GM with 10" subwoofer. The bass was extremely lacking and sounded like crud. Fast forward 14 months and here comes the white screen of death.

    Stuck in endless start screen/white screen.

    Common issue as others, either a white screen or endless reboot cycle. I've had my radio for about 6 months. Will be going with Kenwood instead. Was a decent radio when it worked, but I wouldn't take my chances. There is also this scary/loud popping noise when the radio decides to freeze that happens about every 20 seconds. Feel like it's sending a max volume signal to my amp.

    WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH

    Bought this stereo end of January 2022 and by June 2022 I started getting the white screen of death, randomly freeze up, shut off & on, then went to the start up screen & now back to the white screen w/lines in it. Pioneer definitely needs to have a recall on this as Best Buy will do absolutely NOTHING!!!!

    These have a manufacturing defect. DO NOT BUY. A internal solder fails as early as 1 month into operation.

    Horrible. Please don't use Best Buy to upgrade your radio. The Geek squad was fine. But the process to order and hope to get all the right stuff is terrible. Stick with a local shop for a new radio.

    So best buy's website states this would fit my equinox 2012..but according to pioneer's website and Crutchfield, it will not fit. Going to have to return it for one that will fit. So thanks best buy, for giving false info on your website

      It would depend on your factory display. If you have a color screen, the radio will not work.
      If you have a monochrome display, it should work.
      Please work with the Geek Squad, they will verify your vehicle information and ensure the fit, along with any adapters you may need. PUSATechAnswers

    The back up camera display is very dark . Even if you put in the maximum brightness you still cannot see the outside especially in night and broad day light

      I am sorry to hear you are having an issue with the camera image on the DMH-1770NEX.
      We have not had any other complaints on the camera image.
      Maybe the orange/white wire is getting a false signal, causing it to think it is nighttime and dimming the display.
      Are you using a factory camera? Maybe their video is not compatible with aftermarket stereos. Try connecting another RCA signal to the camera input. See if the image is still dark.

    After installation, I would be driving down the street using CarPlay and the unit would crash and restart over and over. I spent a lot of time with customer service and they couldn’t fix it so I returned it for a refund.

    Worked fine for about 8 months, then started glitching out, white screen multiple lines. Had to send back for warranty repair which was $40 for shipping. Ended up buying an ATOTO, while I got the run around from Pioneer on the warranty. Much happier with new unit more functionality.
