Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the excellent camera quality, ease of installation, and good night vision capabilities of the NTSC Universal Backup Camera. Many appreciate its compatibility with various car stereos and its compact size. While some wish it included parking guidelines, the overall value and performance are frequently praised. The camera's wide field of view and clear resolution are also highlighted as positive aspects.

    Frustrating customer service

I bought this for my husband for Christmas along with a Pioneer Stereo and made an installation reservation for 12/26; however, when I got to Best Buy on 12/26, the reservation was only for the stereo. The person on the phone when I bought these said they were for both. The gentleman who put the stereo in was very kind & helpful. Unfortunately, an appointment for the backup camera couldn’t be made for over a month. Frustrating!!!!

Rear camera only--not a backup camera (no sensors)

Be forewarned that is is not really a backup camera, it is a rear view camera. There are no sensors so it allows you to see, but does not tell you that you are close to another car or obstacle. In order to use the gridlines you must press an icon each time. I haven't figured out how to change that to show permanently, and the installer couldn't figure it out either. (I'm determined to find out but it is not intuitive. That's for sure. I see a call to Pioneer customer service in my future --after perusing YouTube for a while.). I regret this purchase.

The ND-BC8 is a reverse camera. It does not have a sensor to judge distance to objects.
It also does not have built in parking assist lines. I suspect the parking assist lines are generated by your stereo. PUSATechAnswers

Good camera but the moving guide lines is a little annoying. Just wish there was a little more customization to this camera

I was told that this camera is mounted with a sticker. As a result, it has a tendency to fall off.

This backup camera does its job. It could be a little faster though. Gets dirty easily, hard to clean, but when it’s clean it’s crystal clear!

It was beautifully installed but the viewing angle is RIDICULOUSLY W I D E!!!! This pretty much makes it useless except for checking cross traffic but everything and everyone is shown as being waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay far away. Perceived depth is horrid. Not recommended, but again the installation job was excellent! Trust me...I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

    Distorted view

Added this to a Pioneer head unit. The field of view is so wide that the image is distorted. From my photography experience, we would call this a “fish eye lens.” I added a different brand of camera (Similar price) to a Pioneer head unit on my other car. Same field of view but no distortion. That is truly a wide angle lens. I would not recommend this camera.

My review is more for the open box. I purchased a open box product that said it was "like New". They charged me 90 something, but when I received the product it was not in like new condition. Wires cut, ect and the price on box said 61. I had to return the item and they did give me the full refund.
