I’m somewhat new to VR, but have used the Quest 2 for around 15-20 hours so I can give a little perspective as a newbie and a novice who can compare the two devices. I will say that the Quest 3 is very impressive and I have enjoyed my time using both the Quest 2 and Quest 3, and that the latter is a great upgrade. Setting up the Quest 3 was easy and didn’t take very long to get going. I did have an issue when trying to connect to Wifi when choosing the option to connect with a QR code on my phone. I created the QR code but the Quest 3 could not read it, so I had to enter the info manually. No big deal, but I figure the setup would be quick and seamless since it’s been out for years. Other than that, the setup was smooth and I had already purchased some games in advance that were populated in my library. Some big advantages of the Quest 3 over the prior model is the color passthrough, looks so much better and you can do things in the real world much easier with the headset still on! Also makes the mixed reality apps much more realistic. The Quest 3 can automatically draw your boundaries for you, just be looking around. Very nice perk! While I’ve been using the Quest 3 for a few days, I have friends who also own both versions and they tell me motion sickness seems to be much better on 3 as well. Battery life is decent but I would recommend a new headstrap as the one that comes with it isn’t very supportive. I like to get the ones with a swappable battery option built into a headset that provides both comfort and extended usage, especially since an addictive game will go by quicker than you think. The built-in battery gets you about 2-3 hours of usage, so having a spare on the headset is very helpful. Speaking of, the Quest 3 comes with the Batman game at the time of this writing which is actually an impressive game. The graphics look good and the game play is fun, not to mention a decent workout fighting villains! After my buddy played it for one evening, he decided he wanted to go buy the Quest 3 as well which speaks for itself on the game. So now we have the option to play multiplayer and co-op games together, but sadly Batman doesn’t have that option. Casting the screen to the TV is a nice feature for those around you so they can see what your wild swings and movements are all about. I have noticed some weirdness with the casting on my headset such as some instability like shaking or distorted picture briefly, but it goes away. Make sure you have the right type of streaming device to cast to, I used my Nvidia Shield and it works well. I also connected the headset to my PC which is a very cool option. I am able to look at my computer monitors but they are like room-size monitors which looks awesome. I have yet to test out any advanced features such as using mouse or keyboard or other mixed reality productivity apps, but the features that are built-in are pretty solid. I’ve connected to my PC both Wirelessly and with the wired USB cable. Both options worked well and were fairly easy, just make sure you have the proper software on your PC and you should be good to go. Overall, I love the Quest 3 and its upgrades. I also recommend getting the larger 512GB as my buddy has the 128GB and is already maxed out and regrets not getting the larger size. I’m also at around the 120GB of used storage space after only a few days and I feel like I haven’t even put that many apps on here. Its good for all ages….everyone around seems to want to play it too, so it makes for a nice entertainment option if you have family living with you or visiting. Its also a great way to connect with friends you don’t see often. For instance, I have friends that live out of state and we sit at a virtual table together and play poker. I think this product is great and looking forward to exploring all the productivity ways I can take advantage of it.

I got nothing! The store just inflated me. They claim that the parcel has been delivered. But I was at home on the day of delivery. And I went down 2 minutes after I received a delivery notification. I didn't get anything!!! They should ask for a signature for expensive things!

This product is junk. Valve did it far better with the Index almost 10 years ago. The game it comes with does not even have a teleport function so unless you have a massive space its not playable. Would not recommend to anyone.

Amazing Experience and an Impressive VR Upgrade

Talk about an immersive experience! I previously owned the Quest 2 and found it to be a good experience, if not great for playing games like Beat Saber. The Quest 3 is an improvement above and beyond what I could have ever expected. First, the quality of the visuals is fantastic, and by far, is the most immersive VR set I've had the opportunity to try. The pass through lenses provide a full color view of your surroundings, almost making it feel like you aren't wearing a headset at time. My previous experience was a black and white and somewhat grainy view from the Quest 2. The Q3 is a huge upgrade. Beyond the visuals, the impressive view in my mind is the level of comfort with the Q3. I can game for an hour with the headset on and it just feels lighter, more comfortable, and less of a weight on my head. It's a huge improvement in terms of design. Probably as equally important is refresh rate. 90-120hz VR is awesome and makes a huge difference in apps that support it. Motion is so much more fluid. Now for my particular use case. I love to play video games, and about 5 years ago got into retro games and virtual pinball. I even went as far as to build a 3/4 size pinball cabinet with force feedback and arcade buttons, and instead of mechanical parts, it runs off a PC and 3 monitors. With the Quest 3, I am able to hook the headset into my PC, use the cabinet as a controller (flippers, plunger, etc.), and play entirely in VR. It is so immersive and impressive to play in almost 4K with 120hz on a headset. Yes, you need a capable PC, but it's a fantastic experience. Short of that, there are virtual pinball apps in the Quest store that you can purchase and get a similar immersive experience. Hooking up the Quest to a PC to play PC games is pretty simple. There are a few options to play wired (with a separate Link cable to be purchased) or wireless with the Oculus AirLink. Both worked well for me in my testing, but I think I will stick with wired connection when I can, just because my wireless connection to my router can be flaky sometimes (where I play VR and where my router is are in different rooms). Being closer to the router would likely make a difference. Overall, in my testing, I found the Quest 3 to be a huge upgrade over previous generations. I definitely plan to VR more and am excited to explore other worlds in what is really becoming an immersive experience. Finally, the last thing I will mention is that the controllers are also an upgrade over previous generations. Menus are snappy and you can even simply use your hands and gestures as a controller, which is a great experience.

    Worthy Upgrade

In the box is the headset, USB-C to USB-C charging and data cable and power adapter, two controllers with wrist straps and included AA batteries. There is also a code for the Batman Arkham Shadow game and information for limited warranty and the MetaQuest Plus subscription. Disclaimer, I am an owner of the first and second generation oculus. First Impression - The box that the meta quest comes in makes the product seem like it is super heavy but once unboxed, it the meta quest and the accessories are so much lighter. Also, the headset, the controllers are so much smaller. Comfort - The headset is much more comfortable. The older versions were heavier and felt like you are leaning forward a lot. This version gives you less fatigue because the weight of the headset is more evenly distributed. Also, I have a couple of glasses that I wear that are HUGE and this headset allows you to wear larger frames with ease. Also if you have a lot of hair, you don’t have to tie your hair up as much as the straps are much are much more comfortable as well. Battery Life - This version of the headset has much better battery life, and a relatively faster charge. Good for a few hours of playtime depending on your game, and of course brightness. Visual - The augmented reality is less distorted and more in focus. I also enjoyed the gentler movement blur to reduce motion sickness. The accelerometer has definitely improved. (With the previous models, some of the games I played gave me HUGE motion sickness.) The visual is also clearer. Loading times for games are much faster with the added RAM. Controllers - I impressed with the new controllers. They are much lighter and mold to your hands and it feels more immersive without the shifting weight of the priory attached ring. Also the hand tracking is much better with this newer version. I would like to add that the Meta Quest Plus subscription is for three months and is included with the purchase of the 128GB and the 512GB. (Great way to test new games for free and or discount with the included subscription.) Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this to friends and family.

    Wow, what an upgrade!

We are upgrading from the original Meta Quest to the Quest 3 and what an upgrade! Our account easily loaded to the new Quest 3 and immediately we were downloading the games we already have to the new spacious 512 GB hard drive. The rest of the setup was simple as always with the creation of your boundaries. The first thing we noticed playing even old games like Angry Birds was the picture quality with the upgraded resolution. The added sharpness to the picture adds even more to the virtual aspects, making you feel like you are in the game. Now for the mind blowing new feature, the mixed reality. The first demo game of shooting little moving balls while also seeing your living room and blowing holes in your real/virtual wall was amazing. Seeing something drop down through your ceiling is pretty cool too. We only played the demo game but can't wait to see what else the mixed reality features can bring for games. Another new feature that works well is using your virtual hands instead of the controllers. So far we have only used that feature with Batman but it really seems like the next advance for the future, using hands instead of a controller. The headset for this model is easily adjustable and goes from my adult head to the kids with a few minor adjustments. The speakers are plenty loud and tapping the side of the headset to go from virtual to reality is a great feature to have instead of taking the headset off to see what's happening around you. Speaking of our kids, besides playing games, they continue to use the new model to run away to virtual reality by watching videos on Youtube. I have seen the other reviews of people worrying about the lower battery life. Yes it uses the battery faster, but you are now running a more powerful device so its a fair tradeoff. The good news about charging is the connection to charge is USB-C so its a simple cord and not cumbersome. Overall we are blown away by the upgrade and would suggest anyone else thinking about it to go for it.

TLDR - If you’re interested in VR or have an old VR headset and want to upgrade, the Quest 3 is sooo good!* I had only dabbled in basic plastic VR a few years ago and had never really messed around with real VR until I got this Quest 3. Right away, even during setup, the AR floating menus were great with keeping tabs on what's around you, and helping me get used to the experience. Being pretty big into sports, I first tried watching some highlights of games using Xtadium, not a bad experience, but not exactly mind blowing. Being courtside on an NBA game is at least a view I will most likely never experience, so that was quite neat. I then tried the Batman game, wow what an experience for a VR noob, I was caught off guard and definitely terrible at the controls, but it was cool punching dudes out, tossing your batarangs, grabbing on the rungs of a ladder, and more once I got the hang of it. (I’m still terrible) Where I feel like the true best experience I’ve had so far was the puzzle type games, more specifically I am an escape room junkie, and I was able to play “I expect you to die 2”. WOW, what a blast, it was SO easy to get lost in the spy world for a bunch of hours! (I died a lot) I then tried plugging it into my desktop since I have a higher end system. (7700x + 7900XTX) WOW steam VR is also AWESOME with the Quest 3, but one massive caveat for me, (and possibly others with annoyingly weak stomachs) everything I had been playing so far had chunky movement, which I felt was annoying so I searched out a demo that was a smooth first person experience. OH BOY was that a bad idea, I got SO nauseated after just a couple minutes of moving around I had to stop! So yea, I learned a lesson, if you have motion sickness issues, only play seated or “chunky” movement games! Otherwise, GET A QUEST 3, it's SO FUN! Can’t wait to have my family/friends test it out over the holidays!
