Sunglasses with added benefits
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are fun and even sometimes useful. I like that the Facebook view app doesn’t try to automatically upload them or anything, do I wish they would just go straight into my gallery and I would have a need for the app, sure, but the app works for its intended purpose so I’m not going to complain too much. I get annoyed that it is always active. The glasses themselves look nice and aren’t over thick, because it is winter and I just don’t get that much sun I haven’t been able to fully drain them, especially because whenever I put them back in their case they start charging which I feel like all of these smart glasses/sunglasses need to incorporate. They look like slightly chunky Ray-Ban sunglasses and even the cameras aren’t that noticeable, at least on my black ones. One purpose I didn’t think of for these was capturing a quick video even when driving. I saw a Rivian and had to record it or course. I just reached up and tapped the button and it started recording everything I was looking at for 30 seconds, then I just tapped again to start recording again after that. I wish it could record in longer segments but I get there might be some battery limitations for doing that and these are designed more for social media then recording close ups of new vehicles. A white LED lights up in the corner of my eye as well on the outside so that you and everyone else can be aware when you are recording which can reassure others that aren’t quite into all this fun technology. The directed speakers are decent. Music wise they are can get loud enough to be heard across a quiet room so just be aware to turn them down quite a bit in that event though they are mostly designed to be used outside I would assume with the sunglass thing going so you might appreciate the extra volume; but the other side is videos really depend on the recording and voice calls can sometimes be loud and clear and other times be on the quite side, I think it depend on if the voice call came through as a normal voice call or an ‘HD’ one (voice over LTE). The microphone was clear in a multitude of environments with the one disadvantage that it picks up my breathing with no problem if there isn’t something actively louder than it. The picture and camera quality looks good, I am not a professional photographer and it is digitally combining the two images and using digital processing to account for lighting and other factors, so the pictures and video come out better than I could hope to take. Overall, these are a lot of fun and I love having the ability to answer the phone instantly and easily without holding my phone (which is quite large) to my face and to not be constantly wearing ear buds. Pros: Charging case Bluetooth mic works awesome Comfortable Good picture and video quality (even in shady/cloudy conditions) Cons: Bluetooth speaker volume varies from application to application Video length limited to 30 seconds

Inconspicuous Camera Glasses
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Glasses with built in cameras have become a big trend in the last few years. I have owned and tested a few different ones myself. One thing I have never liked is the form factor. Most of them are not very fashionable and often are not comfortable to wear. I believe the RayBan stories are here to help change that. Design wise these glasses are not much different than normal Wayfarer glasses at least from a look’s standpoint. I believe this is one of their strong suits especially for people who already like the look and feel of normal ones. I believe Rayban did a great job in integrating the cameras and speakers without changing the overall look. The bands on the sides are a little bit thicker to accommodate the electrical components but they do not feel much different when you are wearing them. I was impressed with the audio from the speakers. It is not super loud but is great if you want to watch a video on your phone or take a phone call. I believe in a loud area these might suffer a bit but most people will not buy these purely for the audio. The cameras are built in a way that makes them extremely inconspicuous. There is a small light on the outside to tell others you are recording plus a light on the inside that you are able to see with the glasses on. The touch controls built into the site of the arms are a nice addition and work well. I believe there is one downside to these glasses which is the Camera itself. Specifically, the quality of the camera is not on par with todays technology. The video and photo quality to me feels outdated. It is not horrible and still usable to post small shorts on Facebook or Instagram. However, I feel like for some people hoping to use these as a replacement to their phone they will be disappointed. Outdoor quality with a lot of light is much better but the quality indoors with natural light it the quality really starts to become bad. It is possible that the quality is lacking due to packing a camera into such a small package required a smaller sensor size but I still was a little disappointed. They use a separate app to download and share the pictures. The app seems to work pretty flawlessly and it was easy to transfer the pictures/videos to the app from the glasses. From there you can easily download them to your phone or share them straight to social media. The app also has basic editing features to edit your photos and videos right in the app. Regardless these are still and awesome pair of sunglasses. Capable of taking pictures and short videos when you want to go hands free. I believe they will give the ability to capture some great moments that you would otherwise not be able to capture.

Can’t Leave Home Without Them
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the box is the sunglasses, the charge case, 3m USB-C to USB-C power cable with no charging brick, a reference guide with safety and warranty information and a cleansing pouch with Rayban engraved on the bottom. From the beginning of opening the product, I am in awe of the packaging which was very nicely done. After opening the box, you will find a larger than normal eyeglass hardshell with an engraved Rayban logo which is also the charging device. Inside of the case is the Wayfair sunglasses, which look exactly like the original frames even with the speakers in arms. Comfort - The fit is slightly tight which is good for me because I know they won’t fall off of my face. Functionality - The microphone and capture button are located on the right side of the glasses; there is a tiny hole in the arm towards the front underneath the Rayban logo. The speakers, are located on each arm right above ear rest. The camera is located on both sides of the front of the frame. Overall, each component works great. The microphone works very well as it picks up what you are facing and not what is in the background. For instance, if I am recording a video, the sound will pick up what I am actually recording in front of me and not what is going on behind me. The speakers sound good, you can still hear the sound without drowning out the people around you. The camera takes pretty good photos and videos and you can upload via Bluetooth to your device to the app. From there, the app has a Facebook icon to where you can post. The four out of five stars is because of the location of the buttons. The capture button is in the area where I normally put my glasses on, so I am constantly taking photos when putting them on. I also wish there were interchangeable lenses. If I am indoors, it would be nice to change the lenses so that I can keep the glasses on all the time. Overall, the sunglasses are really great. I have been able to listen to music, take photos and videos while I am out and about and share them through the app to Facebook and the best part is taking calls without having to switch devices. So far, everyone says that I sound clear when speaking to them during the call. Would I recommend this to friends and family? YES!

Wearable Fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited when I saw these announced and couldn’t wait to have them. The RayBan Stories are stylish (a little bigger than I prefer but still ok) and pack some cool discreet tech in them. If you compared them to regular sunglasses these are just a little bit heavier than a regular pair of RayBans would be. In order to fully take advantage of the tech in the Stories you do need to have a Facebook account and download the “Facebook View” App. I wish there was a way to use them without having to link with Facebook but that’s not a choice. With that said its very easy to share what you produce with your Stories on Instagram or Facebook so that’s a plus I guess. Charging is straightforward with the included charging case and takes just over an hour to fully charge and RayBan states that would equal about 6 hours of use, I found I got most of a days use out of them and I was using them probably more than I normally would just to put the Stories to the test. Pairing the Stories is easy to do if you follow the instructions in the Facebook View App. The picture and video quality is a bit underwhelming especially compared with todays smartphone cameras so there is that trade off but its pretty cool to have action cam like ease of capturing what you are doing and then sharing easily. I also found that adequate lighting is a must as any low light scenario causes the photos etc to be noisy and slightly blurry. Adding to the ease of use, you can say “Hey Facebook, take a picture” or “Hey Facebook, take a video” and the Stories will carry out that command which is pretty cool. The Stories have open air speakers on board as well which sound better than I thought they would and they do lack bass which is to be expected but overall I was pleased with the sound from them given the open air limitations of the design. I used the Stories for regular phone calls and some conference calls and the voices came through pretty clearly and the people on the calls were able to hear me ok even with some moderate background noise. Overall these are a pretty cool idea and worth a look if you take into account the limitations I mention.

Very cool sunglasses tech!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These sunglasses are very cool and probably my favorite part is that no one knows what these sunglasses can do when they encounter you, until they see the white light turn on. What makes everything hidden is the great design. The camera lenses are well hidden in the frame along with the buttons. Because of this they don't add any bulk either. The Camera button is a physical button on top of the frame, but low profile, and then the volume/playback/call button is completely invisible on the right arm of the frame. That button has different functions based on tapping and sliding your finger across it. The on/off slider is also well hidden inside of the left arm of the glasses. So yes, very impressed with the design and the ability to look like any other sunglasses. The functionality is also great. The power up takes a second or two put connects seamlessly to your phone and the Facebook View app. After taking a picture or video the app shows how many files are available to download to your phone and once you confirm the download, the process begins. Now for videos the download does take a little while, but that's because the quality of these videos and photos are great! In fact, the quality is so good on the video that I only wish it could take longer than 30 second videos. I wouldn't even mind them making a version of these glasses that were just clear lenses as I would have several uses for them indoors. A perfect example is my son in wrestling. I rarely take a video with my phone because I'm trying to watch at the same time. If I had clear glasses like these, problem solved! So the only reason I gave these glasses a 4 instead of a 5 is the sound. There is nothing wrong with the sound, they get plenty loud. I just wish they had some bass to them. Other than that, I have no complaints about these glasses as they charge conveniently in their durable case and are always ready to use as sunglasses, take a photo or video, or listen to music.

Ray-Bans Should Yield Better Audio
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These glasses are everything you would expect out of a quality pair of Ray-Bans, but the disappointment here is that they don't offer anything in regards to audio: loudness, quality, and richness are all lackluster and make the user regret not bringing true wireless earbuds for the day out.

Multifunction sunglasses? Sure!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First lets begin with the sunglasses. These are Ray-Bans and as such have great quality frames and lenses. The fit is excellent and have the right amount of grip so they won't fall off during physical activities. Everything you would expect from a pair of Ray-Bans. What separates these from other sunglasses is their ability to take photos, videos and listen to music and take phone calls. The setup was straight forward just make sure they are charged before you start. They charge in the case so it is very easy and keeps them safe. Once they are charged and setup, operation is pretty straight forward. Taking a picture is a simple as tapping on the frame. Very similar to start taking a 30 second video. And before you think you're taking them someplace you shouldn't there is an LED on the inside of the frame and outside to let others know that a video or photo is being taken. You can immediately view the photo's or pictures on your smartphone. Picture quality is excellent and was actually a bit surprising. The other big feature with these is the ability to listen to music or take a phone call. The only reason I did not give these 5 stars was because of the sound quality when listening to music. Deep tones are almost non-existent which for phone calls is fine but not ideal for music. If I'm laying by the pool or on a beach it would be just fine. Also, since there are little speakers in arms, other around you can hear so be aware on phone calls. Overall, I could see myself wearing these to a summer ballgame and listening to the play by play or definitely laying on a beach and listening to music as I doze off with the breeze.

Decent transition smart glasses for the price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always wanted to own a Ray-ban wayfarer sunglasses with transition lenses. When Ray-ban Stories came out with transitions, I know I have to try them. Who wouldn't want a pair of sunglasses that can take videos and pictures and has speakers all in? This specific version is made for the iPhone. Being fairly new to smart sunglasses, I had to read the reference guide to know the different functions as well as how to pair them with my iPhone. Setting it up only took a couple of minutes - basically just need to follow the steps on the Facebook View app that I had to install. The initial pairing went without a glitch. However, I left the sunglasses turned on for about a day or two (-oh, I had to fully charge them first before setting it up), and the battery ran out. After charging them and turning them on, I noticed that although I see the glasses still paired with my phone, the connection wasn't there. So O had to 'forget this device' on my phone and had to pair them again. Just a slight hassle but pairing them once again was a breeze. The camera on these sunglasses takes decent photos and videos. Obviously not comparable with the iPhone camera, but if you just want a snapshot of the moment and you want to be discreet, these are good enough for that purpose. You can view your captures in the app and select which ones you'd like to save on your phone gallery. I would say my most used function would be the speakers. I love listening to music and when I'm outdoors sometimes it's a little cumbersome to wear sunglasses under the sun and airpods at the same time. These smart glasses handle both. The sound is decent as well, not much base, but I'm not an audiophile so these works just fine for me. Although I notice that at high volume, the sound seem to crack a little bit. The transition lenses works well. Going outdoors, the lenses gradually transitions to a darker shade but not too dark, and stay that way a few minutes after getting indoors. My only complaint about the glasses is the temples - they're tight! I have an average size face but it seems these sunglasses are made for those with narrow faces. My temples hurt after wearing these for a while. Hopefully they would stretch after a lot of use. I just wished they have Eastern and Western frame versions to accommodate the different heights of nose bridge. I have a somewhat flatter nose and the bridge is kind of floating on my nose. Overall, I am satisfied with these very cool sunglasses.

Way Cool Technology
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was quite excited to try out the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses as they certainly seem to be futuristic in nature and piqued my curiosity. Playing music from my IPhone 13 Pro, answering phone calls, taking photographs and videos is really amazing considering all of this is being done through these pair of sunglasses. The sound quality of my music, the pleasant-sounding phone conversations was hard to believe that a pair oof glasses was producing this. Although there was a definite lack of bass to my music, the overall sound was pleasing to listen too. The sound certainly couldn't compete with my ear buds but consider where your music is being played from. Pretty amazing if you ask me. Photo quality and videos capture is solidly decent. Color capture was true to life. What I really loved, is saying Hey Facebook take a picture! Hands-free picture taking and video capture. You can also manually snap pictures if you choose to by using the control button on the glasses. The overall design of these glasses is pretty amazing, considering the fact that two cameras are mounted on both the right-and left-hand sides in front of the lenses. The actual frame of the glasses is modestly thicker as compared to a regular pair of glasses. You will need to download an app called Facebook view. The application worked well with my phone, and I had no pairing issues, The app is pretty simple and lets you tweak and control how and where your video and photos are stored. I have mine set to download to both the app and my Iphone photos. The app also lets you process and tweak the pictures you take. Nothing too fancy but very adequate. I did find that adjusting the volume on music, and skipping songs to be a little cumbersome, but in time I feel that I will get the hang of the controls. Controls were very sensitive to the touch, perhaps a little too much for my liking. This wonderful pair of smart glasses in on my recommended list!

Good, but need a little work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ray-Ban Stories are very nice “smart” sunglasses, which function well and are very stylish. To start, they come in a very nice, premium feeling package. Definitely make a good first impression. The glasses include a charging case, charging cable, and an extra carrying pouch that can double as a cleaning cloth to get those pesky smudges off the lenses. Setup of the glasses is fairly straightforward. You just download the app, and follow the on screen instructions. It’s all very familiar stuff if you’ve ever setup a smart device before. Keep in mind, these are very integrated into the Facebook ecosystem, so you will need a facebook account to get them up and running. Once connected, there are some very nice features, however, I don’t know if I’d quite call these “smart” glasses. Basically, what the glasses boil down to is that they have a camera on them. They also include speakers, but the quality is pretty lacking, almost like they were an afterthought. The camera functionality is actually pretty nice. It’s simple to use. You just click the button on the frame once to take a video, or hold it to take a picture. You can even use them hands free by saying “Hey facebook, take a video.” This feature actually worked pretty well. Although, getting the video to stop was hit or miss. There are lights both on the inside of the frame, and the outside so that you, as well as people around you, are aware that you’re taking a video. You are limited to 30 second videos, which I thought was a bit of a bummer. I’d prefer a little bit more freedom, but I guess they’re limited by the onboard storage. Also, since they are geared toward social media use, I guess they’re really only meant to be used for short clips anyway. The actual video quality isn’t bad, but it’s not great. I think at this point, HD should be the bare minimum that a product like this should be shooting for, if not 4K. So I was quite disappointed in this regard. Once you have the clips and pictures on the glasses, you can use the app to import them to your phone or tablet. This is done by connecting to the glasses’ own wifi connection, which is just a tad clunky, but it’s all automatic after the first time, so I guess it’s not that bad. Once on your phone, the app has some basic editing functions which allow you to easily make a nice little montage. It’s all super easy, and does a pretty good job curating clips. However, again, it’s rather limited. You can only choose up to 10 clips, and the resulting montage can only be 30 seconds. I’d definitely prefer something longer here. There should be no limit since now you’re on your device’s storage and not the glasses. Depending on your preferences, you may be better off exporting to your preferred editing app. This one works well enough, and is super easy to use, but it’s a bit too restricting for my taste. Next, I’ll briefly talk about the speakers. As stated, these almost feel like an afterthought. It’s nice to be able to play music or whatever, but they just don’t sound very good, and I don’t see why anyone would choose to listen to these over even a cheap pair of headphones. It’s nice to have the option, but I just don’t see myself using them very much. Battery life of the glasses is actually really good. You can get in a nice long session of wearing them and taking photos and videos before needing a recharge. I took them to the park for a fun day with my son, and we were there for a couple of hours and I didn’t need a recharge. Once you do need a recharge, you just pop the glasses into the case and it will recharge them. You can get two full charges out of the case before needing to recharge the case itself. Overall, I think you’ll be able to get a whole day’s use out of them if you’re on vacation or something, as long as you keep the case handy for a recharge while you have some down time. Last, fit and style. These actually look fairly stylish. At first glance, you would just think they are regular Wayfarers. The camera lenses are fairly understated, and not at all obtrusive. And even though they packed two cameras, speakers, battery, and whatever other components into these glasses, they are not at all bulky or heavy. They just feel like a regular pair of glasses, if just a slight bit heavier. In conclusion, the Ray-Ban Stories are a very nice product, although a few things need improvement. Some of these can be fixed on the app, such as limited editing of videos. However, others need new hardware, like the video quality. Overall, if this is a product you are interested in, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I definitely had a lot of fun using them.

Interesting concept. Not sure the world is ready.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wore the over the past 5 days, and I have mixed emotions about them. Without going into obvious territory of the issue of spying or anything illegal, I’m not really sure of the value of these. Build quality is superb. Absolutely looks and feels like a premium Rayban product. It’s the tech I’m not sold on. I have several pairs of sunglasses/speakers. The Ray-bans are middle of the road for audio quality. The touch/slide controls are nice. For phone calls, the sound comes across as distant, which makes it tough to hear in noisier outdoor environments. Not the worst, but I expect more when Luxxotica and Facebook brainstorm a product. Now for photo/video mode. This is where I’m most disappointed. Photos require holding down the shutter button for a few seconds, meaning you can’t use these at a child’s sporting event or spur of the moment photos. Being a member of the human race in 2022, I usually have my iPhone in hand, so it’s honestly quicker to switch the camera on the phone and get a burst of photos rather than MAYBE one photo. Taking photos while walking is very hit or miss. Lot of focus issues during movement. The Stories is obviously meant more for staged photographs rather than capturing moments. Video capture was fine, and looks good on streaming playback, but I rarely find the need to capture spur of the moment video. The average smartphone will have a much better set of tools than these glasses, many with 4k HDR video. So far, the best use I’ve had for them is capturing “reminders”. While wandering a series of stores, I can snap a pic of things I’m Interested in buying later, along with their current price. That’s so far been the best use outside of reducing solar glare. These are very stylish sunglasses, very comfortable and light. The added quirks still need some work, but I can definitely see future editions of the product building on the core ideas. Ray-Ban & Zuckerberg put out a video detailing future plans with augmented reality, streaming social media, etc in future glasses, and I can totally see these heading that direction, but this is firmly stuck in the “missing link” territory between old regular glasses and futuristic headwear displays. Useful if you are a teenager or 20-something that HAS to capture every waking moment on her blog, but it’s an easy pass for the average Joe. I’ll definitely use these as sunglasses, but probably won’t charge them once the battery goes out.

Perfect Mix of Tech and Style
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like to think of myself as pretty proficient when it comes to technology and rarely am I amazed by new technology as everything nowadays seems to be more evolutionary than revolutionary, but leave it to a pair of sunglasses to surprise me. At first I assumed this was just another gimmicky product, but I think this is the next true wearable segment that eventually meets with virtual reality which makes sense as to why Facebook was pivotal in its creation. Anyways though upon first opening the package everything is is of the highest quality from the packaging down to the leather USB-C charging case and to the sunglasses themselves. Having a smaller face I figured the sides would be massive with all the internals that they had to pack in, but they really are only slightly larger than regular Ray-Bans and the weight is practically indistinguishable from traditional Wayfarers. Bringing Ray-Ban onboard this project definitely helped sell the product as everything you would expect from the form, fit, and function of traditional Ray-Bans is similar. With the number of colors and styles available I`m sure everyone can find something they like as each style mirrors their Ray-Ban counterpart. After being satisfied with the overall look I figured worst case was that I use them as traditional sunglasses if all the tech items were subpar. The instructions to get started were very simple and after downloading the app and syncing them to my phone I was up and running in less than five minutes. The nice thing with these is that they didn`t try to do too much as the functions are very basic so that there are not four or five buttons on them to remember where everything is at. Playing audio (music and calls), taking videos, and taking pictures are the three key functions to which each were incorporated perfectly so that there is just one extremely slim button on the top and one touchpad on the side of the sunglasses. First I played some music and that is where I was so amazed I went and took them to my wife to show her as it literally sounded like I had my airpods in as it was so clear. Then I moved to taking pictures and videos to which the experience was seamless and uploading them to my phone couldn`t have been easier with the app. The voice assistant was also a nice feature as it made everything hands free and was extremely simplistic as it only responds to perform items the sunglasses can execute (change track/volume, take picture/video, etc) so it`s not going to read off some obscure web search when it doesn`t understand your question. Then finally the battery was no issue in my daily use as the case provided enough power for a whole weekend. There are two items that need addressed. Firstly is that yes, this isn`t a DSLR or iPhone 13 camera in a pair of sunglasses and nobody should expect it to be at this price point and style of glasses. I will say that the pictures and videos I took were great for what I expected as only upon zooming in to larger landscape pictures does it become even slightly grainy. Then secondly is that Meta (Facebook) designed the technology/software and that some may have concerns over privacy to which I will say that we are just taking pictures and videos here and Meta does a great job understanding that people may have some hesitancies so they attempted to keep it as barebones as possible upon setup and security features. Overall, I complete product reviews weekly and very rarely do products come by that amaze me like these sunglasses do. From the aesthetics of mirroring my other pair of wayfarers exactly to the technology in these I really hope that other companies take notice as I definitely could see this being the next Apple Watch type product that we all will have in the coming years.
