Get the Job Done
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the RIG 500 PRO HX XBox Gaming Headset with 3D Audio for my 13 year old son who is a recreational gamer who uses the Xbox and computer for games. He said the headphone have great sound and are very comfortable. They look nice and seem to fit him well. It took him a bit of time to figure out how to adjust the volume, but that was because he didn’t see the switch on the cord. He’s used to other headphones, so he didn’t know to look there. He said they were otherwise easy to plug in and use. Normally, he uses wireless headsets, but he did not mind these at all. Overall, good gaming headset with great sound!

Great headset if you want to exchange it every 3mo
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned 4 pairs of these. You might think why am I only giving a 1 star review if I have owned four of them? I have owned that many not because it is a great product, but they stop working after about 3 months and I have to exchange it using my service plan. First, the microphone will go. Each time, it is a connection to the headset that is the culprit. Then, a few days later, one side of the headset will cut out. No reason, no visible damage to the plugs, just stops working. No, do not buy these. I am going to be exchanging my fourth headset now and am going to choose a different brand as this brand cannot be trusted.

Outstanding Sound & Comfort!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the previous version of the RIG 500 since June of 2018 and the COVID quarantine has not been kind to them. While I have gotten in a ton of gaming, they have gotten a lot of wear and tear. When I saw that there was a new version of these, I jumped on them because the previous version was/is one of my favorite gaming headsets of all time. Why are they my favorites and why is the RIG 500 Pro HX an outstanding replacement/upgrade, well here's why: 1. Comfortable: The earpads on these are insanely thick and comfy but despite that, they don't get hot. Since the part that directly touches your face is cloth, it breathes better than many that are just pleather. Also, the hammock headband is really nice, though it has gotten less nice over the years but that is because of my rapidly declining hair situation and not the headset. 2. Sound: I have had the Dolby Atmos App since it launched and the RIG series takes great advantage of that. Both on my previous Xbox One, my PC, and now my Xbox Series X, you get phenomenal sound and detail. To this day, I'm still sometimes shocked at the sound details this brings out in games. You find out that some game developers do a really nice job with directional audio and environmental sound. You also find out which ones don't as well. Ease of Use: I used to be a big wireless headset fan but years of throwing them away when the battery burned out and the constant charging (or leaving them plugged in when they were low on battery), really kind of soured me on them. Plus you would also often get volume drop-off as the battery put out less 'omph'. Being able to just plug these into the controller gives me the same freedom from my console without having to worry if they are charged or not and the sound is pretty much constant. Now there are a few quibbles that I had with the previous version of the RIG which unfortunately carried over to this new pair. 1. Use With Eyeglasses: While the padding makes the RIG 500 series comfortable and does a great job with passive noise cancelation, it also can make wearing glasses uncomfortable depending on the thickness of your frames. I'm usually good for an hour or two, but much more than that and I need a break for ears. 2. Head Size Adjustment: Unlike most headsets that have a smoothly variable arm for adjusting the position of the earpieces, the RIG 500 has three channels that lock the pads into place. While this is great for keeping them from creeping up or down and needing constant readjustment, it also gives you less variability for your noggin. I have a pretty oval head and I have to have them on the longest (bottom) set of holes. I would probably like just a smidge more length to make them perfect. If you are on the extremes head size, you may find that the RIG 500s don't adjust to you as well as some other headset might. Overall: For the price, comfort, sound quality, and build quality, you CAN NOT do better than the RIG 500 Pro HX headset. If you want to squeeze the best audio you can out of your games without breaking the bank, go out and get yourself these headphones.

Cheap build quality.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used this headset for about a month. The sound quality is great but the build quality of the band connecting the speakers is terrible. Where the metal and the plastic come together is a weak point. The plastic broke on the band so the speakers just fall off.

Failed wiring
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones worked pretty good. Very difficult to set up Dolby Atmos, so I skipped that. On September 10th, three months after the one year warranty expired, the wire connecting the ear muffs failed. Only one side works now. Going back to another brand. Sorry, Rig.

Great budget headset... formerly Plantronics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headset has a comfortable fit with the earcups adequately padded. To get a proper fit for my fat head I had to move the pivot head on the earcup to the largest span slot on the bridge. The bridge has a floating pad that helps with a proper fit. To insure proper fit the headset has 3 adjustment positions where the earcups snap out and back in. It comes in the center position but it is easy enough to snap out and back into an adjacent slot. The cord is pretty short making it necessary to plug into the controller. However it is okay for handheld units with headphone jacks such as Switch, Steam Deck and most tablets. Speaking of the cord, it's a rubberized and flat and has a convenient slide adjustment for volume. I'm really not a big fan of the flat rubber used. I would have preferred a cloth braided round cable that would easily slide against clothing or skin although I do have a headset for PC games that has a coarse braid and I pick up noise through the cord to the headset when it slides against my clothing... so maybe the flat rubber cable might not be a bad idea but more play time might change my mind. The mic boom snaps into place but make sure that it snaps in securely or it will dislodge and fall out. The boom pivots up out of the way which also mutes the mic. It also is a good length and is bendable to get the best placement in front of your mouth. Some are fixed and end up bumping into my cheek… not these. The sound is good and Dolby Atmos is integrated although I don’t see a significant improvement with the experience. All said at the price point these are a great add for the XBox or any handheld gaming device with 2.5mm headphone jack.

The 2 year Atmos included makes these a winner.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very solidly built headset. If you are familiar with other RIG headsets, this one adjusts the same way. A stretch band across the top and each ear cup pops out and fits in one of three different slots to fit your melon. Big head approved. The mic is detachable, but the cord is not. I do wish the cord wasn't fixed to the headset. There is a foam cover over the mic, so that is something that could degrade over time. Mic mutes only by flipping it up and the volume is on an inline controller that seems to hit me in a spot I don't like when sitting. Comfort level is a little above average and the weight of the headset is about average. Ear cups aren't quite as deep as an older RIG 500 headset I have and I do wish the openings were a little bigger. Sound quality is pretty solid. Not quite as much bass as I would like, but not bad overall. The real positive with this headset is the inclusion of 2 years of ATMOS for both XBOX and Windows 10. With certain games the ATMOS really opens up the sound and adds a lot to the enjoyment. It's hard to go back to gaming without it.

XBox One voice connection issues
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying there are a lot of things I like about this headset. It's comfortable, and the options for changing where the headphones sit works. I like the rubbery band on the top, so you're not setting the metal band directly on your head. The mic up to mute is a nice touch as well. I do appreciate the fact that I can use these on other devices due to the 3.5MM jack. The issues come in actual use on an XBox One. Using a RIG wired controller, I had more issues than I expected with connecting to voice chat. The microphone worked well did it did work however. I also had to get into the settings on the Xbox itself and crank the volume to 75% before I could hear anything that the volume control on the cord started adjusting. You're unlikely to blow your ears out due to volume with these. I also enabled Dolby Atmos and didn't hear much of a difference - maybe that was the games I was playing?

Hear the echo in atmos

Posted .Hi KhalSwiper,
We apologize you've had echo issues with our RIG headset. Here are a few things you can try:
If your audio output is set up through your TV or surround sound system, this could cause echo issues. This is especially true if your headset mic is too close to the speakers. Turning down the volume on your TV may be enough to stop the headset from picking up the ambient noise and echoing it back. But you can also make sure your audio output isn't going to both TV and headset by doing the following: Press Xbox button > Select Settings > Select General > Press Volume and Audio Output > Choose Party chat output > Select Headset > Turn down the headset volume
Also, the mic on your headset could be picking up the audio that is coming through on your headset. Especially if this is turned up particularly loud. Try turning down the volume on your headset, or try moving your mic slightly further away.
Last thing, in case the above hasn't worked, is to check the specific voice chat settings for the game you are playing. Not every game will have these settings, and they may not apply to party chat. But in some games, the settings might need adjusting, to stop the headset from echoing. Additional assistance can be provide by Nacon Customer Support via email at support.us@nacongaming.com.

Crisp sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve become a big fan of Rig headsets after using a different name brand for so long. Their prices are much better and the quality is top notch. I find the Rig headset to be much more comfortable and light weight than other headsets I’ve used. The steel frame is the perfect upgrade from their previous model, adding a higher end feel to this headset. The chat mic is very clear. This headset is wired which I personally prefer because you have a solid connection and don’t need to worry about Bluetooth dropping out or disconnecting. Must buy!!

My Other Headphones are now on Standby.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The RIG 500 PRO HX XBox Gaming Headset with 3D Audio are some of the best headphones I have used for a price under $100 yet. How are they the best you wonder? Well, for me, my $300 Turtle Beach headphones are now hanging up while I enjoy these Dolby Atmos 3D sound that is almost life-like. Once you open the box and realize how much they can be adjusted to fit 99.9% of noggins out there but more how comfortable they are. The ear muffs are soft and fit your ear nicely. They are not sound canceling headphones but the cushions seal out so much of the outside sound, I cannot even here my 4 daughters yelling in the next room when the game is in play. Download the Dolby Atmos app onto your Xbox or PC and plug in your headphones to activate Dolby on your computer right away. Setup is easy, plug and go, but if you want to adjust settings to your ears, the options are plenty as well as user defined EQ slots available. I personally used the User Slots for self made EQs as I am picky and have to setup and headphones or sound to be perfect. The sound is nothing short af amazing, highs are high but not tinny, mods are smooth and not overpowered and lows hit nice but flatten out under 33hz. The 3D Atmos sound is where they kill it, the sound in a FPS game, the sound around you is amazing, hearing footsteps, leaves fall, fire burn and explosions like you are there in the game. I really am enjoying these new RIG Pro headphones, the comfortable strap and low tension head band allow me to wear these for hours without ear pain. Mixing amazing Dolby Atmos sound and comfort in one package is a true winning combo especially when you take in consideration the price point. These are a solid choice and a no brainer for any gamer.

Good Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my fourth set of gaming headphones and while I gave them 4 stars, I had to struggle to find enough positives to do so. They are well built, fit nice and snug, are comfortable, not hot, lightweight and overall, a decent set of gaming headphones. However, no matter how many adjustments I made, I couldn't get a great sound out of them. The sound is very flat. The 3D spatial sound on either Atmos or Windows sounds great and accurate but the overall sound is just lacking. Also, I have to tweak the microphone settings to stop the unit from echoing and this usually affects the overall sound and loudness of the headset. I will use them as a back up to my wireless set. Overall, a nice basic entry level gaming headset.

Most comfortable headset ever!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The RIG 500 PRO HX headset for Xbox / Windows 10 is truly incredible. I have mainly used mine for gaming on my Xbox One, but love the fact that I can also use it with my PC without losing out on the Dolby Atmos functionality since the activation is linked to my Microsoft account. Speaking of Dolby Atmos, the included 2-year activation code really adds a ton of value to this headset. For the price, the headset is still a great gaming headset even without Dolby Atmos but the fact that it also comes with a 2-year activation code and given just how unique an experience Dolby Atmos provides, it really propels this headset to the top of the list of best headsets in my opinion. One of the other things that really makes this headset stand out is how comfortable it is. It cannot be overstated how important comfort is when it comes to gaming headsets because any sort of discomfort can really detract from the experience. The self-adjusting head strap creates the most comfortable and custom fit regardless of head size. As a result, I never get the feeling like I need to take a break because my ears or head are sore (which I have experienced with other headsets in the past). Overall, the RIG 500 PRO HX headset for Xbox / Windows 10 is a great choice if you are looking for a gaming headset and I highly recommend it!
