Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the 500 Pro HX GEN 2 Xbox Gaming Headset. Many appreciate the lightweight design and Dolby Atmos integration, enhancing the overall gaming experience. However, some users express concerns regarding the inline volume control and the permanently attached cable. The bass response is also a point of contention for some customers.

Headset has decent sound and mic quality, but the mechanism that mutes the mic has broke on me multiple times. To mute it you flip the microphone itself up and down, and the mechanism that holds it is incredibly cheap. This is my second time owning this headset (with replacement plan) and the same part has broke every time.

Sounds good but a piece of wet paper is more durable. This is going to be the 2nd time I have an issue, first one broke for no reason just stopped working. Got a second one because I didn’t learn my lesson and this one also failed the same way mid game.. I have the geek squad service so we will see how the 3rd one holds up…

Pretty solid and I love the design. But it seems quieter than most even when the volume is all the way up. Other than that I’m pretty happy with it.

Being a child – or rather a teen – at heart, I am a gamer. Sure, I am a grandpa, but technology is my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Audio, video, computers, and games are topics of my conversation even when I’m talking about healthcare, which is what I do for a living. So please don’t judge me when I say I am a gamer. I just love it and own an Xbox, a Playstation, and gaming computers. So I understand a little about good and bad equipment for gamers. So do two of my sons who still find time to play games with me even though one of them lives thousands of miles away. I was excited to receive the Rig 500 Pro HX and it was worth the wait. Design and looks are very important to me although I seem to have conflicting tastes about that. The reason is that the look and design for gaming equipment has little to do with my taste for the design of my music headphones for instance. I like the looks of this Rig for gaming only. It just suits their goal well and it feels rugged to an extent. Comfort is better than I expected, and it doesn’t make my ears sweat like some other headsets I’ve owned. Despite the look and metal frame, it is relatively light. Another plus is that it has a max lock position for the volume. My ears appreciate that. Sound quality is not exactly perfect but is very good nonetheless, especially with Dolby ATMOS, which makes it a joy to listen while playing any game. It is immersive as should be any game headset. A very important thing while playing online is the microphone and responsiveness. It provides good voice quality, and I haven’t noticed any lagging. Of course, that also depends on your internet speed, but I’ve had bad experience with a few headsets despite having a gigabit fiber connection. Not with this set. The Pro in the name is well deserved. Now back to my game.

The RIG 500 Pro HX XBox Gaming Headset with 3D Audio is great for Gaming and for Video Conference meetings. I like the design of this headset. It is kind of a cool-looking exoskeleton-type design. They are lightweight and I have found them to be very comfortable, even after 5 hours of continual use. They have a self-adjusting head strap and the earcups can be moved into three different slots on the frame to allow for a comfortable fit for any head size. Of course, the most important thing with a headset is the sound. I found the sound to be great for gaming on my XBox and they also sound great when connected to my laptop for video conferencing applications, when I am working. This headset comes with a 2 year Dolby Atmos activation code, which is a great addition. I've used this headset with games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Cold War, Gears of War 4 and Star Wars Battlefront. The 3D sound makes it easy to hear the direction the sound is coming from, which really enhances your abilities when playing these types of games. My friends all tell me they can hear me well on the mic also. While the headset is not technically considered noise-cancelling, I have been able to game with these on in a fairly noisy room and the dual material ear cushions really block out most outside noise. The mic is noise-cancelling, and none of my friends have been able to pick up on any of the noise in the room I am playing in. I also like the inline volume control and the fact I can just flip up the mic to mute it. It's also a nice feature that you can just unplug and detach the mic, if you are playing a solo game. While I really am enjoying this headset overall, there are few things I'd like to see upgraded. First, these are a wired headset. I have used wireless sets in the past and while there are some advantages to a wired set, like not charging batteries and such, there is certainly convenience in using a wireless set. Of course, being a wired set also lowers the price point. I like having both types around for different types of use. I mentioned that these work well for video conferencing on my laptop also. They use a cord with a 3.5mm plug. Unfortunately, the cord is not real long and it does not detach. It works fine when I am using my laptop at my desk at home, but based on where it would have to plug in on my PC at work, the cord would not be long enough. I wish it either had a longer cord, or ideally, that the cord could be unplugged, which would allow me to use my own longer cord for work or other situations where you may want to sit further from the laptop. Of course the shorter cord is nice when plugged into your controller for gaming, as you don't have all the extra cord in the way. I'd also like to see it come with some type of carrying case for protection during transport. Transportation would be another reason for a detachable cord, as I am concerned if I throw these in a backpack with no case that the cord could eventually be damaged since I can't unplug it. Lastly, while I mentioned the sound is great for gaming and video conferencing applications, I have also used them to just listen to music. I would say the sound is average when using them just for listening to music, not bad, just average. These are really a gaming headset, so if you use them for their purpose, I think the sound is great, but if you plan to use them for an all around Headset for other things, they may not have the type of sound you wanted for just playing music, although that may vary based on personal preference. Overall, I found the RIG 500 Pro HX Headset to be a great wired gaming headset for use with my XBox and they also work great for all of the video conference meetings I find myself on these days. I would definitely recommend them for these applications!

Please tell me in the year 2021, you’re bot using the basic Microsoft headset. Please tell me you also didn’t pay hundreds for some top of the line headset that may not break. Mostly, PLEASE tell me you’ll pick bad boy up as it’s one of the best headsets out there for its value. Setup is simple, plug in and start playing. The mic picks up your voice just fine and leaves out a lot of background noise. There’s a mute and volume feature built in with the volume at the base and the mute function occurred by lifting the mic. Best of all, it’s comfy and incredibly lightweight. As someone who has probably used over a dozen different headsets over the years, this is easily the lightest I’ve ever worn. Best of all, this comes with two years of Dolby Atmos which is such a game changer and improves audio across the board. Whether you buy this or not, definitely treat yourself to Dolby Atmos. The only few cons or things I’d change is that the mic isn’t able to go on each side of your face, only the left side. It’s a wired controller and you can’t control mic sensitivity through the device. All that said, this is a real easy buy and I recommend it. Happy gaming!
