Ring gives you thirty days of full service then they stop core functions if you don't sign-on to thier service plan. This they only tell you after you purchase not prior to purchase. Every one that plans to buy Ring should know that upfront.

I needed this part for another $200 or $300.

It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the different accessories for the Ring Alarm. The Ring Alarm Flood and Freeze Sensor works with the Ring Alarm Base Station to alert you when water or freezing temperatures are detected in your home. A Ring Alarm Base Station is required to use the Ring Alarm Flood and Freeze Sensor. Your sensor should be placed within 250 feet of the base station. If necessary, you can use a range extender. Visit our support center for additional information and to learn more about the different Ring Alarm accessories available to help monitor your home.

I think it is an easy setup and a decent alarm system but I cannot get over the fact that you need to pay for each camera if you want to save any video after the 30 day trial video. I understand that saving videos requires cloud storage but I am disappointed that Ring could not provide some very basic storage option considering the price of its products. At least Arlo saves videos for up to five cameras for a week without the need of a subscription. Without the subscription you still get alerts but by the time you get to the live camera, you will likely miss what caused the movement in the first place. I wish I would have known this before I purchased this system and now I am unable to return it. Good luck selecting an alarm system that does not want to force you into excessive subscriptions.

You can also access, download, and share past Ring videos. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to the Live View feature.
