You can use without subscription but there are limits when purchasing and you don't want to pay for a subscription. I want complete control of my own monitoring not to be limited because I choose not to pay a company. I also returned because the price $100...you might as well pay for the full alarm system $150.

No associate at Best Buy told me that I had to purchase a ring base station whose price is $119.99 to make this contact sensor work! I realized it when installed it in Ring App. This is totally different from Ring doorbell and security cams which does not require any additional accessory! I will return it soon.

These Contact sensors are very flaky, and keep intermittently going off on Tamper Fault. Some times waking me up, and goingoff in the middle of the night! This is the fourth one arleady that is defective out of fourteen devices. It makes the whole alarm system very unreliable. Yes, I did go through the "Resolving a Tampered Contact Sensor 2nd Generation" tutorial.

      Hello Refrigerator,

Thank you for investing in home security through Ring. We know how important it is to trust your home security devices to protect your home. Your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor should stay securely mounted to your wall for peace of mind. We're here to help solve this with you.
