It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance. Follow these steps to get your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor 2nd Gen to respond or come back online:
Move the Contact Sensor closer to the Alarm or Alarm Pro Base Station.
Add a Range Extender between the Contact Sensor and the Base Station. The Range Extender helps extend and expand the Base Station’s Z-Wave network, allowing for greater range and signal strength for all compatible devices at your location.
Briefly press the button on the front of the device.
Three green blinks: The Contact Sensor is ready to connect to the Base Station.
Single green blink: The Contact Sensor is connected and communicating with your Base Station.
Single red blink: The Contact Sensor is unable to communicate with the Base Station.
If your Contact Sensor isn’t working or being recognized by your Ring Alarm and the battery power is sufficient, you may have to adjust the position of the magnet and sensor. Move the sensor closer to the magnet or in a more optimal alignment.

We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take if your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen) is disconnecting easily when opening and closing windows and doors:

1. Check the positioning of the sensor and magnet - they should be properly aligned and no more than 1 inch apart when in the "closed" position.
2. Move the Contact Sensor closer to the Ring Alarm Base Station to improve connectivity.
3. Add a Range Extender between the Contact Sensor and Base Station to improve signal strength and range.
4. Test the connection by pressing the button on the front of the device: - Three green blinks means it's ready to connect to the Base Station - Single green blink means it's connected and communicating properly - Single red blink indicates it cannot communicate with the Base Station
5. Check the battery power - cold temperatures may drain batteries faster. The sensor uses two CR2032 batteries which should last up to 3 years depending on usage.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, we recommend to perform a factory reset on the device. You can reset your Contact Sensor by following these steps:


* Slide to remove the Contact Sensor from its base.
* Use a pin or paperclip to press and hold the pinhole reset button on the back. After the LED light turns off, release the reset button.
