Would be better if it could turn off when Ring system is set to DISARM. Somehow it is still active, just the notification is turned off. Will wait to see how the battery live...hope it will last at least a year.

It sounds like your device is not performing as you expected. The Ring Alarm Contact Sensor expands your Ring Alarm system to secure each door and window in your home, and you can get alerts as soon as they open. Below are some steps to reset your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor:
Slide the Contact Sensor off its base. Ensure that the batteries are installed and that you are within three to five feet of the Base Station.
Use a pin, paperclip, or sim card ejector to press and hold the pinhole reset button.
After the LED light turns off, release the reset button.
Re-add the Contact Sensor to your Ring Alarm using the Ring app.

As for the sensors themselves they are pretty good but a slimmer magnet would much easier to use. Ring sells them for an additional cost but should just make those standard.
