It sounds like to the device is not functioning as expected. The Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) is designed to work with the Ring Alarm Base Station to be keep your entrances secure. The Ring Alarm Base Station is required to connect and configure the sensor.

Until one of them gets “tampered” (basically a tiny bump on the inside doesn’t align just right so it shows as “tampered”). They can be finicky, and it sucks because once you put it on there is hardly any removing it and replacing. Or else you will need new sticky backing (which isn’t provided!!) So be sure you know where you want it and if it will work there first (I.e - tape it down and test it out)

All my doors and windows have one of these installed. Better yet, the installation was free with the total tech program. I really can't say enough about all the free installation I've received.
