Ive been in my new home for over a year and I get a lot of deliveries. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to install my Ring doorbell. I live in a safe community but I am out on the road often and wanted to be able to monitor when I got deliveries and when my dog walker came to the house. I also spend a good amount of time on my back patio and could not hear the doorbell when someone was at the door. My ring door bell solves all of those needs. I had a ring at my old condo and was familiar with how it worked, but this unit offers more and the app has been completely redone. Installation was easy, I could have done it, but my contractor was already here doing my bathroom so I asked him to do it. It took him less than 5 minutes and the setup through the app was simple. I love the motion alerts but turned off the voice messages that the unit played to visitors. Yesterday, when the UPS guy came, the app actually alerted me that I was getting a delivery from UPS, that’s pretty awesome! I’m going away this week and this gives me peace of mind knowing that I’ll be alerted when anyone is at my front door.

I bought it because it is 2K. But the image is not what the camera provides.

As I mentioned in my title, I am a huge Ring infrastructure fan, and will likewise be biased I currently have a wired Ring camera doorbell on the from of my house, but wanted something I can put on the side door. It is not used too often, but it would simplify my life When I found out that Ring had a battery one it was a game changer for me. Obviously, the side door was not wired for power and this will the most economical option Unboxing was simple and undramatic. Ring does a great job protecting the product without a lot of wasteful cardboard and paper Setting up was a breeze First off, I set it up for a full charge and that just took a few hours (USB C) Next was to connect it to my network and application. Simple, straightforward and worked the first time. You have no idea how many other devices take 2, 3 and even more times to get them to link up. This one worked on the first time (frustration free) Mounting was a breeze. 4 feet up with anchors into the brick and of course used a level to make sure it was straight Operation and video quality is exactly the same as other Ring camera. Day or night it is clear and static free I am writing this review right after the first night, so I can't say how long the batter will last, but I assume that mine will be better than average since it will not be getting much traffic

My old Ring doorbell has been with me for a long time, and at 2 homes. The battery in it is starting to show signs of age, not holding a charge for as long as it used to. I decided it was time to upgrade to an updated model. Since I don’t have a hardwired line to connect to, I went with the Ring – Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd generation). So far it’s a good change / upgrade. There’s not too much to unpacking and setting up, especially for an established customer. The box contains the doorbell, all the hardware you’d need to do a simple mount, and a new (at least to me) tool to remove the faceplate for access to the removable battery. They do suggest that you charge up the battery to full BEFORE starting use, which can delay you up to 12 hours from getting started. Once you’re fully charged, all it takes to add the new device to your Ring account is to scan the QR code on the doorbell, once the battery is installed, and the app will detect it and take care of the rest. Now you’re ready to have have the video doorbell do its work. The first thing that was apparent to me was how much of an upgrade the 2K retinal vision camera was from my previous device. The daytime video is significantly better and the night time video truly amazing. The low light sight of this doorbell does make it look like there is much more light than there actually is. Other functions are similar to other models like alerts when motion is detected, or the ability to view live and have a conversation with anyone at your door thru the app. Of course you can subscribe to different levels of plans to gain access to more features for a monthly/yearly fee. One of the newer, more controversial features hidden behind the paywall is the AI enabled familiar faces. It’s one that you have to opt into in order to be able to use, but my early thoughts on it are positive. I like the ability to have it know my face, or my wife’s face and then be able to tell me in the notification that “wife is opening the front door.” It allows me to focus more on the alerts I need to, and not every single alert. I know there are plenty of people that don’t like the idea of it, which is why its so controversial. The definite reasons to upgrade are the significantly better camera and the removable battery pack. These two things made me want to update. A lessor reason was to get access to some of the newer features like familiar faces to see if they are worthy or useful and so far I do like them. Truth be told, for existing customers, the age and battery performance will probably influence an upgrade decision more than anything else. For new customers, This is a nice video doorbell that deserves consideration even if the AI stuff isn’t for you.

Camera doorbells have come and gone and some with little to no fanfare or glitz and some have tried to keep up with the big boys which is what Ring is considered in the somewhat over crowded smart doorbell market. Ring is the leader and has always been the king when it comes to smart doorbells going up against the likes of Google, but when Amazon bought Ring, not only did the doorbells get better, they got sleeker and smarter. This particular doorbell is slim, and is battery operated and stays in line with all of the Ring products, boasting a long battery life and a design that quite frankly is a cleaner look than the earlier generations of Ring bulky larger doorbells that were suare and didnt fit on a front door frame. This design mounts easily and is easy to set up through the Ring app and you are able in true Ring style expand your range and alerts and its a new generation that looks better and acts better for that matter and provides a Retinal 2K camera expansion which is ideally what is needed when viewing your home landscapes. Its hard not to recommend this product to anyone looking for seamless protection from a leader in this space.

If you've had Ring doorbells before, then setting this one up will be no surprise. It's two to three times as good as my last doorbell. Video quality is amazing. Farther zoom capability with less loss of picture quality. Surprisingly sharp at night a well. Less lag than previous battery models for active voice communication to those that show up. Keep in mind that some setting will drain the battery fairly fast, like a matter of several days. I'd recommend getting a backup battery to make swapping out easy without losing video coverage. Talk back is clear without the delay of previous doorbells.ou get 30 days of premium service. The ring app works great. Setup instructions are clear and easy to follow. Customization is where the app shines. The audio privacy feature keeps your doorbell from recording and streaming audio if you want. You can add privacy zone for areas you don't want recorded for example, a neighbors home. Smart responses are good for when people ring your doorbell, there's several to choose from. If you need a doorbell upgrade, get this.

I’ve used a few video doorbells over the years, but the new Ring Battery Doorbell Plus with Retinal 2K video is on a completely different level. The clarity is honestly the first thing that blew me away. The wide-angle view covers my entire porch and walkway, and the Retinal 2K resolution makes everything look sharp - faces, packages, even small details I never noticed with my old doorbell. Amazing Video Quality Day or night, the footage looks crisp and clean. The wide-angle lens gives me a full picture of what’s happening outside, and I’m not dealing with the usual blind spots. I can actually recognize people and see expressions instead of guessing who’s at the door. Zoom That Actually Works The up to 6x zoom is surprisingly useful. I’ve used it to check packages, read labels, and even zoom in on a car pulling up. What impressed me most is that the image stays clear even when zoomed in - no grainy mess like older doorbells. Instant Alerts & Easy Communication The motion alerts come through fast, and the Two-Way Talk feature works smoothly. I’ve already answered a couple of deliveries while I wasn’t home, and the audio is clear on both ends. It feels like I’m right at the door even when I’m miles away. Note that there might be slight delays in audio mode due to connection quality constraints. Simple Battery System Charging is easy. The built-in battery pops out with the included tool, and the USB-C cable charges it quickly. No wiring, no hassle. Just recharge and snap it back in. Great for Reviewing Footage With a Ring subscription, I can store up to 180 days of video, and the Smart Video Search makes it super easy to find specific moments. Person, package, and vehicle alerts have already helped me keep track of what’s happening around my home. I also linked it with my other Ring devices, and now everything works together - when the doorbell detects motion, my other cameras start recording too. It feels like a complete security system without needing a complicated setup. Final Thoughts If you want a doorbell that gives you top-tier video quality, reliable alerts, and easy installation, this one is absolutely worth it. The Retinal 2K video alone makes it a huge upgrade, but the smart features and seamless Ring ecosystem really seal the deal. My front door has never felt more secure. Highly recommended!

I have had this for about a week so far. Unboxing was simple. No real instructions on install in the box. You have to download the app and the instructions are very simple to follow. Took about 2 hours to fully charge the battery, I will be interested to see how long the battery lasts, so far after a week it is still showing a full charge. Installation was quite easy, you just remove your old doorbell button and this goes in it's place. Took about 30 minutes for install, it was a little slow as whoever installed my original doorbell button stripped one of the screws and I had to drill it out. Image quality is outstanding. It also tells you thru the notifications what activity is happening e.g. person at the door, looking around. White car in the driveway etc. I have been playing around with the detection zones as I keep getting alerts for slow moving vehicles that go past my house, UPS and delivery trucks, school buses etc. so that has been a little frustrating, it is trial and error to get these settings right. There are a lot of nice additional features you can link it to Alexa + so Alexa can make a greeting, you can tie it into other ring devices on your property, you can see what other people in your area are posting, event history, snooze alerts, adjust detection zones etc. The one thing I don't care for is if you want to retain your event videos you have to have a subscription. That is the reason I got rid of my last security cameras, I don't want to pay to see my data. Other than the false alerts I am very happy with the product and would recommend it.

Received this Ring Battery Doorbell Plus 2K a little over a week ago as an upgrade from my older Ring Battery Doorbell. No real issues with the old one, just wanted some of the upgraded features of this new one. Pretty straight forward setup, similar to the one I was replacing. Drilled new holes into the siding just because of the larger size and how I wanted to position the mount for it. Same wires attaching to the doorbell. I like that it uses the same batteries as before, though the removal mechanism is a little different and needs the included tool. I suppose a thin flat screwdriver or similar will work too. App settings are all similar to the other Ring doorbell I had and detection settings and alerts super easy to set as well. Compared to the prior Ring doorbell, the image quality is noticeably better and sharper, especially at night (so I can see animals running all over my back patio 😊). I would recommend this doorbell for those looking for a battery solution. I hope this works well later in the year when temperatures dip to below freezing with winter upon us.

Either Ring really hates their customers, or they've come to the understanding that it benefits them if they make the Doorbells much easier to disable/steal, that the customers will have to keep replacing the batteries and doorbells, so they make a lot of money off it, in addition to the monthly service fees. Why do I say that? I'll get back to that in a bit. Let's start with the physical stuff. Upgrading from an old doorbell? Well, rest assured you CANNOT use the same holes/bracket the 2 previous versions of Ring use (I’m on my 3rd, and again, new holes on door). Each version of Ring comes with new brackets and holes, and if you rent, good luck asking your landlord if you can put more holes on their door/walls. What can you reuse? The batteries! Yes, the 20-year-old battery from the original Ring will work in your new doorbell. You know, the old battery that you must use the antique micro-USB cable to charge? Sure, they provide the cable, but it's also a USB-A end, and it's 2026, it's getting harder to find a USB-A port! But why would Ring improve their battery when they clearly have mass produced old batteries and it would cut down on profits for them to create a better battery with USB-C, even though the Ring device itself has improved technology, which also means the 20-year-old battery will deplete faster. Plus, you'll need to buy AT LEAST 1 spare battery because it takes over 10 hours to fully charge - and what person would be willing to have their "security" Doorbell offline for 10+ hours? So yeah, spend more money to buy 20-year-old batteries so your 2026 camera can stay online. This is why it's best if the doorbell is wired or has a solar panel attached to recharge, but if you're a renter, you might not have that ability to do so. So again, Ring doesn't really care about rental customers, as they make it harder to "upgrade" your doorbells! Technology: With the Pro features, you can allow it to use ai to recognize faces, items, locations. Since the new version isn't secure, I've put mine on my patio and turned that into a squirrel camera. How well does it recognize animals? Well, most of the times the squirrels are labeled as a squirrel, but sometimes they are labeled as "dog" or "cat" - which is kind of funny to have a tiny squirrel be labeled as a dog, but that's AI for you! Is it worth the Pro? Not to me, but having the video description of "a person is climbing the stairs" might be useful to others. Why do I have it on my patio and not on my front door? Well, I have the previous version mounted, and I’m not about to make new holes because this "new" version decided it only wants 2 screws, where it was 4 before. Let's get back to how it's not secure: I'm not going to be incredibly detailed - but I will say that previous version of the doorbell had a T screw, which is not common for normal toolkits, but IS common for IT Toolkits, it's the same screws used on laptops. I have the hot swapping of batteries down to less than 10 seconds, because I have my IT toolkit. 10 seconds is a long time for criminals...so Ring decided to make it easier by removing the T screw, and just made it a pop off cap. Now you can disable the Ring within 3 seconds, 2 if you're fast. 2 seconds...to take down your security doorbell... 2 seconds...how does that benefit the customer? It doesn't! Who does it benefit? Ring - because now it only takes 2 seconds to steal the battery, so more battery sales! It also benefits thieves, because they can disable it in 2 seconds as well. They can also take the whole Doorbell down quicker too - since it's only mounted with 2 screws instead of the previous 4. Again - who does that benefit? Certainly not any of the customers! Pros: Mostly accurate face/objects/animals descriptions (with Pro plan) Can use the same batteries from all previous versions of ring No longer need to unscrew anything, you can use a Q-tip to swap the battery Zoom is better than previous version Cons: 20 year old batteries with old charging cables take forever to charge and will run out faster Different bracket/mounting holes Security Screw that protects your battery has been replaced with a pop off, someone armed with a Q-tip can steal your battery within 3 seconds Mountain screws are now regular Philips head screws, which is what everyone has (if everyone has it, then it's not SECURE) If this is your first Ring, it's not terrible (because you don't know how it was before) If you're trying to upgrade your Ring, you may consider a different company.

I have not had much luck with camera doorbells. The batteries are ones that you buy (I used rechargeable ones) and the actual camera and its clarity have always been a disappointment. And the mounting brackets were designed as if they were to fail early and easily with plastic parts snapping that retained the camera. So it was with this mindset that I went with this Ring door bell. I have been thoroughly surprised! Installation would have been easy had my door frame border been flat, but I fashioned a shim to raise it out a bit to allow the doorbell to install so that the mounts could catch on the back as designed. This issue was not the fault of the doorbell per se, but it would have been nice had something been provided that would give options to raise the mounting point so the top would tip and allow the mount to catch. Love the idea of the bottom screw to secure the doorbell to the bottom of the frame. I pre-charged the battery before installation and I just had to get used to how the battery loaded into the housing (and then when removing later to recharge). Not as intuitive as I'd like but I finally figured it out. OPERATION REMARKS The app installation is no easier or harder than most. When the app is installed and activated, I really was impressed with the 2k camera footage - at night it was amazing - not the green limited clarity of night vision but rather clear well lit footage. I'm not sure how the image for this doorbell is better than the actual external camera footage I have used in the past, but it is. The app has a great feature - a slider track that shows you events highlighted that you can scroll through. And an even better feature is that the doorbell captions if there is a person or a car that goes by and there is a feature (not yet tested) that has recognized faces. I was so impressed at this point that I subscribed to the monthly $9 cloud storage feature because this doorbell has precisely what I want at a quality that I didn't expect. I just found out that the doorbell notifies you when the battery needs to be charged - mine notified me by email. This is far better than me having to remember to check the battery level on the older doorbells. OVERALL I highly recommend this doorbell for your home. I have the camera feed app also installed on my tablet so I can get an even bigger video feed in case I'm expecting a package to be delivered and so I can greet the delivery person.

It’s Amazon. They can supposedly access this at any time so make sure your porch is clean. I am not tech savvy. Getting this installed made me feel worse. I got the battery charged- no problem! Then I tried to watch a YouTube video on how to install- what a mess! This type was not shown. Every one I watched showed a different mount then the one I got. Eventually I watched the one the code showed and they all missed one very important step. This is not screwed to anything! It just clips on to the top and kind of snaps in place. And really just hangs there. So easy for someone to take. So, after that I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out the ring. Geez!!! It rings outside and barely inside in my Alexa. I just don’t have the patience. And now I’ll spend another hour or three trying to get it right. I do like the idea of seeing who is at the door as our living room is in the back of the house. If you get this as a gift for someone that is not technically inclined, have the decency to install and set up for them.
