Well, it does have beautiful clear ability to show who standing in front of your door. It doesn’t have an automatic zoom for whom might be standing a few feet away. It would’ve been great if the lens would have been able to zoom in on whoever is like 6 feet away and then zoom back out. We know when they come closer to your door the other issue with this is all of a sudden wanting to authentication text messages to your phone. They needed to make this product much easier you should be able to plug it in and they have your phone number in your email and that should be enough somewhere along the line. They stopped allowing your email to be your identification and they wanted to have a telephone number so they could send you text messages all the time and for those of us who don’t let people send text messages to us. It becomes a bother some and tedious step.

This is my second video doorbell from Ring. This latest model has an internal battery and can be used wirelessly or hardwired versus my hardwire-only unit. The unit comes with a USB-C charging cable, release tool, wall mounting bracket, security sticker and installation hardware. Note that it doesn’t come with a USB wall adapter, but you can plug it into any powered USB port for charging. There are screw terminals adjacent to the charging port giving you the option to hardwire the doorbell for permanent power instead. This is convenient if you already have existing wiring and a compatible transformer, so you won’t have to take the doorbell down to charge it. The doorbell unhooks from its mount with a simple press of the tab on the underside, which doesn’t specifically require the included release tool; a flathead screwdriver would work just fine, but that means it isn’t secured well against theft or tampering. The amount of time the batteries last will depend on your settings, ambient temperature, and how often video is recorded or the camera is accessed and for how long; on average the battery life of mine decreases by about 2% each day. You’ll need to download and install the Ring mobile app to a smart device in order to setup the doorbell. App setup takes around 5 minutes and requires you to create or log in to a Ring account, while installing and mounting of the camera took me an additional 5 minutes to complete. You can optionally link your Ring and Amazon accounts, which enables features like Alexa voice commands and Amazon Key In-Garage Delivery. The purchase and setup of a new Ring camera includes a 30-day free trial of a Ring Protect Plan, regardless of whether or not you’ve had a trial in the past (current subscribers excluded). The plan offers video history up to 180 days for every Ring camera in your home, 24-hour event summaries, discounts on other Ring products, and multi-cam live view. You’ll also be able to enable smart alerts that detect people, packages, or general motion with the option to record and/or send an alert for these events; every live view session will also automatically be recorded. Videos and snapshots within your history interval will be stored on the cloud where you can download them at any time while you have an active subscription. Without a plan, you’ll only be able to watch live view of the doorbell and respond to motion and doorbell notifications when they happen in real-time, but video is not recorded or saved. The integrated camera features a head-to-toe, wide field of view with 1440p HD video, color night vision, and 2-way talk. The video is square and its frame size is 1440 x 1440 pixels. The visible image is circular with vignetting of the corners (blacked out) and a slight fisheye effect that causes distortion of proportions as you move outward from the center of the image. This, however, is an acceptable trade-off in order to view nearly straight down to the area beneath the doorbell, making it more likely that packages placed there will be visible on camera. There are wedges for the mount, sold separately, that you can use to tilt the camera to face a different angle, if needed. When someone is standing in front of the doorbell camera, in live view you can use 2-way talk to communicate through the app and the unit’s built-in microphone. Audio quality is good, and you can generally hear and understand conversations in front of and directed at the doorbell. The speaker quality on the doorbell is also pretty loud and clear so your visitor should have no trouble hearing you. When the doorbell button is pressed, I receive push notifications on my phone, and the Alexa speakers throughout my home "ring" and make an announcement. Announcements can be enabled for person or motion detection, though you can customize detection zones separately for motion, people, and packages to lower the incidence of nuisance alerts. At night, the night vision infrared lights create a black and white image that is as bright, detailed, and clear as daytime footage. Optionally, you can enable color night vision which adds color to the image, though note that this will not retroactively add color to previously recorded nighttime video with the setting turned off. Overall, the Ring Battery Doorbell (2024) is a decent smart doorbell camera with good audio and video quality but requires a subscription to get the most out of it. As a doorbell, all of my Alexa speakers become chimes, and I don’t have to run any wires. However, I can always convert it to be permanently powered by wire if I don’t want to keep taking the doorbell down to charge the battery every few months. With a subscription I can rest assured that I'll be notified of events like motion, people, and packages and have recordings going back 6 months.

This is our 3rd ring product in our ecosystem, we also have a wired flood light and battery powered stick up camera. This doorbell was easy to add to our app, just charge it when you get it, once you detach it from the power cord, it will automatically enter pairing mode for you to join it from the app. If the paring mode does time out, you can still scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell to also get it added to the ring app that way as well. Since my door molding is not wide enough to mount the camera to, I do have the ring's siding mount coming in the mail. For testing, we held the camera against the siding and took a photo to figure out what height we will need to mount this at when the siding mount does arrive. Overall, the view didn't seem to change moving the camera higher or lower by a foot in either direction. I did take stars off for 3 reasons, 1) because this has an integrated battery, once the battery needs to be replaced, you will basically need to toss the entire device and purchase a new one, instead of just getting a new replacement battery; 2) the battery did lose 6% in 9 days without anyone "ringing" the bell or us using the live view feature more than 2-3 times & to charge the battery, you need to use a special removal tool (in the box) to detach it from the mount to bring the entire doorbell into the house for charging, and 3) the kit didn't come with a mount to attach this device to siding, so I have a separate order with that mount coming in the mail/separate purchase. If all of these annoy you as well, then look at the pro-grade cameras...for now, the pro version still has a replaceable battery that can easily be swapped in without having to remove your doorbell every 30, 60, or 90 days to charge it.

      Hi Vibranium.
We understand how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home’s security. The features and technology provided by the Ring Battery Doorbell are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here today to provide you with information to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Battery Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring cameras and doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Battery Doorbell, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
Thank you for being the best part of Ring! Have a wonderful day!

I have always wanted a video doorbell but wasn’t entirely sure where to start there are many on the market and with a handful of ring cameras I didn’t think I would need one. I know there are a whole lot of versions of this available and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I must admit I am very pleased. :::General Thoughts::: If you have owned a ring camera then you should know what to expect in terms of reliability and the product overall. I have stick up cameras and I have bought some new and refurbished and luckily not even one has failed me yet. Everything you need is in the box, bracket, usb type c cable, doorbell itself and a quick release hook to remove the doorbell from the bracket. It took less than five minutes to install the bracket, and about two hours to charge the doorbell itself with the built in battery. The doorbell itself snapped in place and is sturdy and setup is as easy as it gets especially if you have other devices. It is worth noting that this model is not the one with the quick release battery. That may or may not be a big deal to you so please take that into account if that is a feature you desire. Charging the doorbell camera was easy with the included usb c cable and it has a neat charging battery indicator on the doorbell button. It displays the battery life in a circular ring and it will let you know once it has been fully charged. I have two cameras facing different views of my front entrance and added a doorbell camera and I love it. Most of the blind spots I had are now gone, and with the wide angle lens the camera has it is impressive and I feel the clarity is a tad better than the stick-up cameras I have. :::Pros & Cons::: Pros: - Easy to install - Long lasting battery - Two-way talk - Good resolution - Alexa compatible - Excellent night viewing Cons: - Non removable battery Most people should be familiar with ring cameras they have a lot to offer like Alexa compatibility. Being able to view your camera from an echo device (5,8,10,15) is a neat feature and you can talk to your guest or visitor from there too. It is a nice feature if your phone is not nearby. It is also worth noting that there is a subscription service that is essential to get the most out of your device. Like all my other cameras calls are clear and the audio is crisp. I noticed that my apartment has old school thick walls that do not allow for the best wireless signal strength. I went and bought a ring chime pro to aid with that I am hoping that will improve the signal strength of my outdoor cameras. :::Closing Thoughts::: Overall, the ring doorbell is a great addition to my home as it allows me to monitor what is happening at my front door and see if packages are left there and communicate with food delivery service drivers. The viewing angle is amazing and does truly work as advertised with head to toe viewing angles. I hope the battery will last for years that is pretty much my only concern as with this model it can not be removed. I will most certainly replace with a newer model in the future with a quick release battery version. :::TL;DR::: You want a video doorbell that works and is easy to install and use and is reliable with lots of features then look no further.

Ring Drops a Quality Battery Doorbell WiFi Camera

Ring is well established as the leader in doorbell & security cameras. They offer many models of doorbell cameras, each with unique features. This Smart Wifi Video Doorbell is ideal for a second entrance, since it is battery operated & often the second entrance is not wired to power a doorbell. This doorbell camera is outfitted with a fisheye lens that enables head to toe viewing, albeit at slightly more distortion on the edges than a conventional lens that would only show a narrower field of vision. This Ring doorbell camera offers excellent low light capability & very good image quality. However, as I walk past the camera it occasionally misses me & simply does not capture my movement. I checked my WiFi at the doorbell; I receive excellent signal strength there. The primary concern I have with this doorbell camera is that the internal Li-ion rechargeable battery is not removable. This means you have to keep (and not lose) the unique curved tool that is included, and use it to remove this doorbell camera from the wall mounting bracket, plug the doorbell into a USB-C cable (included) & plug the cable into a USB-C wall adaptor. After charging, remove this doorbell camera from the cable & snap it back on to the wall mounting bracket. CONCLUSION: This Ring Smart Wifi Video Doorbell is improved over last year's model; however I recommend wiring this doorbell if at all possible in your application. If that is not possible, Ring offers a solar adaptor that fits behind the doorbell. Wiring eliminates removing the doorbell to charge the battery & provides a more robust connection. I recommend this doorbell; Ring manufactures quality products & this doorbell is no exception.

In general, having security cameras is one of the ways to maintain a certain level of security at home. Having a doorbell with a camera that allows you to see who is outside before you open the door and be able to interact as if it were an intercom but from your cell phone, is something highly recommended. Ring has good quality products that work well and are durable, this device is no exception. In the box comes the doorbell with camera, a usb-a to usb-c charger cable, a plate to install the device as well as screws and plugs for that purpose, a sticker, a quick guide and warranty documentation. I like the design, it is minimalist, it comes in black with silver color with a ring that lights blue when pressing. The installation is simple, the first thing is to download the app and connect the charger to the device, then in the app you must follow certain steps to install the doorbell (you can also connect it wired and this will avoid having to remove the doorbell to charge it every time, but it depends on the needs of each one). Then the same app will guide you to configure the doorbell (you will have to create an account to use and configure the device). Once installed and configured the doorbell will be ready to use. I think it is important to take a little time to configure the different functions to which we have access as well as the use of the device in combination with other devices and voice assistant as Alexa, you can create routines with different types of functions, modify the security modes for when we are at home or away from home. The device itself has a section where you can change the camera settings, video quality, audio, microphone volume, speaker, night mode, activity zones, etc. Undoubtedly the Ring app is so complete. You can get a great advantage with this device because there are many features and options available in the app. Regarding performance the camera has a very good 2K video quality, night mode pretty good too although the color night mode option falls short. The sound quality of the speaker and the quality of the microphone are outstanding, it is usually a section where other devices fail but this doorbell achieves it very well. Notifications despite having a slight delay are very effective, both with motion detection as well as when someone rings the doorbell. The battery lasts long enough, however, depending on which configuration we choose will be the duration we get, for example if it is installed in a place where many people pass and have activated the sensitivity levels to the maximum and notifications of each event, it may not last the battery. It is important to configure the device according to the desired result as well taking in account the area where it'll be installed. In conclusion, I think this doorbell with camera is very well designed, has very useful features, a very complete app that allows you to get the most out of the device and also at a reasonable price. If you are looking for a wireless doorbell with camera that gives you greater security and control in your home, this doorbell with camera is a highly recommended option.

This Ring Battery Doorbell is a great upgrade for home security and convenience. The head-to-toe video provides a much wider view than expected, making it easy to see packages and visitors clearly. Video quality is sharp, and the live view loads quickly with minimal delay. Installation was simple since it’s battery-powered—no complicated wiring needed. The two-way talk feature works well, with clear audio on both ends. The Venetian Bronze finish adds a clean, modern look that blends nicely with the front of the home. Overall, a reliable and user-friendly smart doorbell that delivers solid performance and peace of mind.

Sooooo I have owned many door bell cameras over the years and Ring was my first doorbell camera that I owned and it hooked me into expanding my security system. Setup was straight forward.. Make sure you either charge the doorbell or connect it to a hardwired system and you can get the software all up and running. Good thing with ring is that it does not need another relay device to run your existing hard wired chime. It has.one built in. I have installed sooo many door bells in front of my house that the screw and anchor pattern in my stucco can basically take any doorbell mounting pattern. But since I already had an older ring doorbell this was easy to mount with 1 exception. This doorbell did not come with a plastic base to help with wire wing nuts. So I had to improvise a bit since I got rid of my other ring systems. This new doorbell has better features than previous years. This generation has better low light color camera vision. The image quality is better and the AI behind detection has improved. The other good feature is that you have a community based network to post things happening to warn others of incidents etc. The only downside ring is the subscription fee. If you are ok with the fee and you like simplicity then this is the doorbell form you. Good job Ring. You have improved from when I last owned one of your products. With that in mind and from what I have tested and know of other products I would recommend this product for what I have stated above.

The Ring Battery Video Doorbell is packed with features designed to enhance your home's security. A standout feature is its impressive 2K resolution, which captures video in a square format that provides a unique "head-to-toe" view of anyone at your door. This is a noticeable upgrade from many standard 1080p doorbells. The device also offers seamless 2-way communication, allowing you to see, hear, and speak to visitors from your smartphone. For nighttime use, the integrated color night vision delivers a clearer and more detailed image than what you'd get from traditional black-and-white models. Furthermore, the doorbell is remarkably user-friendly, with a streamlined design that makes it easy to install and set up through the Ring app. While the doorbell is highly functional on its own, an optional Home Premium plan is available for $20 per month. This subscription adds a host of advanced features, including: AI-generated video descriptions of what the doorbell sees. Continuous 24/7 video recording, moving beyond just event-based clips. The ability to view live feeds from up to four cameras on a single screen. A Smart Video Search function that helps you quickly find specific events within your video history. Overall, the Ring Battery Video Doorbell offers a robust set of features, with the optional subscription providing even more advanced security and convenience.

Live view works smoothly, notifications are responsive, and the two-way talk is clear and easy to use. The battery-powered design is convenient, especially if you don’t want to deal with wiring. The satin nickel finish also looks clean and modern on the door. Overall, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and feels like a solid, reliable smart doorbell. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a simple and effective home security upgrade.
