A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. It sounds like you are concerned with the need for the Ring Home Plan subscription. The Ring Home Plan provides valuable capabilities, such as accessing paid features and the ability to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

With a Ring Home Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. Without a Ring Home Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.
