It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is an outdoor floodlight security camera with 1080p HD video. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus has ultra-bright, motion-activated LED floodlights, customizable motion zones, "Live View," "Color Night Vision," a 105db siren and two-way talk. Ring doorbells and outdoor security cameras are water-resistant and designed to withstand normal rainfall and snow. Ring products are not waterproof and should not be submerged in water or sprayed with high pressure water. If you can, it is recommended to keep your Ring device under a protective overhang such as a hanging roof. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is weather resistant so it can be installed outdoors. If water is getting into the lights, it may be an issue with the installation.

I'm very impressed with the sensitivity of the lights coming on when you walk from the sides. It is close to 180 degrees. The camera itself has a bit of a narrow visibility. Note this is made to install over an existing outside light. I did not have that so bought a junction box, and a heavy duty extension cord. Cut the end off the cord to hook to camera and plugged into outside socket. Put wires in junction box and sealed it up with sealant. Works great.
