We are happy to provide you with more information regarding the motion detection concern that you mentioned in your review. Accuracy in motion detection can be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."
Your feature request for person recognition would indeed improve the overall functionality of the device. Rest assured, we do take our customers’ feedback seriously and implement good ideas where we can.

Excellent value and longevity

No idea why they do not make this so it can be easily installed on a soffit. This newer version is even harder to mount on a soffit. The lights and camera are even more limited and, for many, the light shrouds will end up upside down. Camera quality is worse than the old one. Next time one of my Ring cameras dies, I will be looking for better options.

The features and technology provided by the Ring Floodlight Cam Plus Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the installation and video quality concerns you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you were having some difficulty installing your device. Your Floodlight Cam Wired Plus security cam must be installed on a 4“ round UL-listed weatherproof electrical box. If you’re mounting the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus on an eave or overhang, you will need to rotate the lights away from the camera. In addition, when installing the mounting plate on an eave, the arrow should point toward the wall. Visit our support center for a step-by-step guide to installing your device.
It sounds like you also have some concerns regarding the video quality you are seeing. The Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is an outdoor floodlight security camera with 1080p HD video. If you are experiencing poor video quality, this could be due to a weak wifi signal or low internet speeds. Follow these steps to test your wifi signal strength:
Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select your device.
Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera.
Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
Visit our support center for details on how to resolve poor video quality concerns.
