not sure why i had so many issues trying to set this up. not sure if it was my connection or what. issue resolved and i finally have a light hooked up to it. now i want another one - still need to figure out how i can speak to Alexa on my phone so it connects to the app and turns the light on. just need the time to figure it out

The bridge sets up with a simple QR scan. Since this is a brand new item I do not understand why it is downloading updates as soon as it's connected.

i purchased this bridge together with the smart lighting motion sensor. it helps me to extend the motion detection for video recording before it reaches my spotlight cam motion zone. however, i got some issues configure lightings on / off of my spotlight cam. after the smart lighting motion sensor links with my spotlight cam, u can configure the cam to start recording and lightings when motion alert. i don't know if it is just me but i encountered my spotlight cam lighting sometimes just don't turn on or just a flash at night. i am looking forward ring will make more improvements on this.

I was told I needed the bridge in order to operate my solar light. It was a cumbersome task of calling the ring support center, my carrier, returning & receiving another bridge but after a week, I finally got it to work. ring support was very helpful.
