Customers highly value the camera's picture quality and ease of use, with many praising its simple installation. However, some users express concerns regarding battery life and motion detection reliability. The availability of a solar panel is also a plus for many. While some appreciate the wireless functionality and affordable price, others find the night vision and cloud storage options lacking.

This camera would fail to work almost every other day and needed to be removed and reset many times in the few weeks I had it. I ultimately returned it.

Does not work as promised. Poor connection, and the delay or lag time from the time you get an alert, until you are able to see the video is more than 15 seconds.

Hello,
Oh no, this is not the experience we intended for you to have. The delay is normally attributed to WiFi/bandwidth connection but we'd be happy to further investigate this for you. Would you kindly reach me at [email protected] today so that we can improve your Ring experience, please?

I have the "Ring" doorbell so when I heard that were coming out with a new stick up camera I was very interested.
The setup of the camera is very easy with the smartphone app, and the kit comes with almost all tools required for installation. With 1 camera I can see almost my entire backyard. With a street behind me and no rear neighbors I enjoy having a little piece of mind that I can get a notification if someone was to get in my yard.
The night vision is a little grainy but definitely better than nothing. The price is good for the product. I would definitely recommend it

Hi H6610,
Your Stick Up Cam should hold a stable connection to your WiFi network. We recommend that your Stick Up Cam is no farther than 30 feet from your router but the closer it is, the better the performance. Would you reach me at [email protected] so that we can address and improve your Ring experience please? I'd appreciate your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Overall pretty good. No wires, easy to set up the mounting bracket, etc. Performance will all depend on the strength of your WIFI. I comes down to that. If you have decent connection and decent upload speed, it will perform as advertised. If connection is unreliable and speed is slow, performance will be spotty. Video recording on web is cool, though I'm a little nervous about privacy. Could be improved by 1) need to have on/off switch to save battery when you don't want to be bothered with alerts and the camera using up battery (for example, I have a camera aimed at my driveway, but I also have a basketball hoop there. So if I'm playing basketball it will alert me continuously and use up the battery). 2) also need a discounted web recording plan if you're using multiple cameras/doorbell. 3) should offer free video recording (like say 7 days worth or 1GB worth) like NetGear Arlo camera.

I've had two Stick Up Cam's and a Ring Pro for 6-9 months, While the doorbell seems to work fairly well, the Stick Up Cam's have some serious downfalls as far as some of the features claimed are concerned.
(Note, I'm an enterprise network engineer specializing in Wireless and Switching and have years of ISP experience)
1. Triggered Alerts only sometimes actually record the subject that triggered them.
2. once an alert is triggered, sometimes you get a black screen with no picture or sound at all.(slightly useless)
3. Live View works only some of the time. gets hung at "activating device" for almost a minute and will bomb out.
4. 30FT of motion detection is claimed. I've NEVER gotten more than 12-15ft. consistently 9ft works. I've had several support cases opened and gone through all the steps I've been asked to go through to no avail. I have a commercial grade wireless network at my home with my outdoor cameras connecting at a consistent -42-50dBm(RSSI if looking at device health in Ring App)
5. quality may be considered 720p but it definitely leaves something to be desired. choppy inconsistent video quality seems to plague these devices.(Tested indoor and out, 5 feet from Wireless AP and 20-30 feet, no difference)
And now the good.
1. Set up is a breeze, very detailed and thorough instructions through the Ring App.
2. the optional (highly recommended) Solar Panel adds to this deployment something no other company has on the market. (Arlo Pro cams are supposedly going to have a Solar Panel option Q1, we will see)
3. resilient design and weather resistance makes it a great choice, albeit there are other cam's out there with those same qualities, I liked this the most.
4. Cloud recording is somewhat reasonable. I do wish there was a local storage option and you wouldn't need their cloud service but I understand why they have it.
5. Ring as a company keeps improving and pushing firmware updates out. they know they have issues / bugs and are working on it. as others have state, they have a great support center that truly try and will help as much as possible which makes it a bit better.
as of this moment, I've recommended these cameras to my family and several friends throughout the last few months. though as of this review I can't say I'll recommend it again until some of the missing features and bugs are worked out.
I plan on buying several more of these cameras the moment they correct the issues and fix the distance limitations.

Caveats and limitations

You will need a very strong wifi signal in order for this camera to work reliably. I have found that even when the mobile app indicates a "good" signal at the camera, it's not good enough. You really need a "very good" signal (better than RSSI -60), otherwise motions will not be reliably reported and video and audio will be choppy or pixelated. I have an AC1200 extender with high gain antennas rated for 10,000 sq ft coverage sitting inside on a windowsill, with the camera in straight and clear line of site outside about 30' away from the window, mounted on a tree and showing "Good" signal strength reported in the App, and it's not working reliably.
One other important point for everyone to understand: this camera was designed only to operate in a specific way: it only connects to the wifi when it detects motion. This is how it conserves battery life. It was not designed to be used to view a live video feed anytime you want, as this requires the camera to be constantly monitoring the wifi connection. However, Ring responded to customer demand that they provide this function, which they added earlier this year and it's called Live View. No one should expect to use this feature regularly unless their camera is plugged into power, because enabling Live View quickly drains the battery - and the solar panel may not be enough to help.
A lot of people ask if the battery charge really can last as long as Ring says (up to 12 months). The only way it could, would be if 1) you never use Live View, 2) you have a very high quality wifi signal, 3) you have very infrequent motion detected
I also have a Ring Doorbell Pro, which gets its power from the doorbell wiring, so it is much more reliable. And it also has a nice feature that I haven't seen documented anywhere that it can only do when it's powered: it always buffers 2 seconds of video, which means that when it detects motion, it will capture and record 2 seconds of video PRIOR to the motion trigger. The Stick Up Cam doesn't do this as far as I can see.
In summary, I think the camera can probably function ok for what it was designed to do, but it really does highlight the limitations of battery powered wifi cameras and why they are not widely used. If security is critical, you need to bite the bullet and run wires (power & video/ethernet) for a truly dependable system.

I have to say that I'm happy with the Ring Stick up cam. It works really well for what I need it for which is keeping an eye on activity around my garage. It took me less than 10 minutes to install, connect to my network, and install it outside of my garage door! HD Camera - is very clear, I think it's 720 which is good enough for what I need it for. There is cloud recording isn't very expensive but I haven't decided if I need it but I'm sure I'll break down and get it.
Weather resistant makes it great for the outdoors.
Connects to your wifi and works great.
Customer service is excellent- I had a quick question and the chat agents were able to help me easily.
Everything you need to install is included so that was nice.

I have the Ring Doorbell pro which is hardwired,Which is I am assuming it works great 99% of the time. This camera however is VERY FRUSTRATING ! When the battery is fully charged, it works 1/2 decent. The lag time for LIVE VIEW is very annoying. When i get a motion detection i want to see what is happening right away. With the battery 50% or less I am waiting upwards of a minute or two to connect to the feed, if it even CONNECTS to begin with! So now that my camera is far from an electrical outlet, on top of the $199.99 price and the $30 for the cloud service, i have to spend an extra $50 on a solar panel to keep it charged and have yet to try to see if its going to improve my experience. I love this camera EXCEPT the terribly LONG lag time to get to the LIVE FEED ! I hope the SOLAR PANEL will improve my experience as it is now going to give away my discreetly placed camera !

I am happy with this security camera, which I ordered to go along with my ring video doorbell that I have been using for about 5 months. The doorbell is a great product that works well and I love that I can use it with my phone. I have a long driveway that is shared so wanted to have coverage on the side of my house and this seemed like the best choice, because it's wireless, works off a battery, and it works with the same app as my doorbell. I did consider other security cameras, but they all seemed to require wiring and I wanted a wireless solution.
Set up was easy, it took a couple of minutes. Since I already had the Ring app, I just had to add the camera to the app. The device paired with my wifi and all I had to do was insert the camera into the mounted bracket.
I don't know yet how long a charge will last, but so far it does not seem to be using much of the battery. I have a power outlet near the camera and could keep it plugged in if I wanted to.
The camera lens is great and picture is clear. It has night vision, which of course is not as clear as the day vision, but is still satisfactory. In the settings of the app, you can adjust the areas covered and the sensitivity of the motion detector. And you can turn the alerts on or off. Once motion is detected, you can speak to whomever is there, I talked to my neighbor who I share part of the driveway with. I use an Apple extreme which is located about 30 feet away and my house is stucco and product works great
Overall, I am so happy with this camera and would buy another one if I had another spot for it!

First off, I would like to say that I'm a huge fan of the Ring Doorbell. It works near perfectly and I've got my co-workers buying them in droves after my stellar review.
The Ring Stick Up Cam on the other hand is a good product in theory but severely lacking in execution. The motion detection is extremely poor. Yes, I've been in contact with tech support and have gone though all the steps they've asked me to. I'm not alone in this. A couple of co-workers of mine also have the Stick Up Cam and they experience the exact same issues without resolution from tech support.
The issue is the camera and the hardware used inside. The motion sensor is low quality at best. If it truly uses infrared to pick up motion, why isn't it picking up cars going by? My super cheap Lorex cameras detect motion infinitely better than the Stick Up Cam which I find disheartening. And keep in mind the camera is in a sleep state (to preserve battery) until it detects motion and turns on. The problem with this is, the camera missing vital footage until it's far too late. I would prefer the camera stay on at all time and I have to recharge the battery once a week. A camera that doesn't capture footage is pretty much useless to me.
I really want to like this camera but it's too hard considering the price they are selling it for. As I said, the doorbell is totally worth the money but this Stick Up Cam needs a complete overhaul. Until then, I would never recommend it to friends and family.

I don't know how we lived without our Stick Up cam! The HD quality is amazing and so is the sound and it took about 10 minutes to set it up and connect. Now we never worry about whether a package has been delivered and is sitting on our doorstep, and my kids all have the app installed so they can see who's at the door. Best money you'll ever spend for peace of mind. I'm getting another one for the garage!

The stick up cam is a great addition to the Ring. Com doorbell. They both use the same app and work in similar ways. The stick up cam can be installed anywhere with in the range of your wifi signal. This cam is all weather all though I do recommend under the eve of a house or shed. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to install with minimal skill. The harder part is adjusting the settings on your app. Once it's all set up, you can just forget it. There are no monthly fees unless you want to back up the alerts to the cloud.

Bought 2 cameras with the $50 off each device on Black Friday.
We already own a ring doorbell and love it, so it seemed natural to add two cameras to one app.
First as others have stated, battery life is horrible further made worse by living in Minnesota. It has been not too bad for temps in the 4 days the cameras have been up (between 32 and 50 degrees), but the driveway camera is already dead.
I have read the ring customer service responses about use draining it faster....so looking at how often it has recorded per day...about 6 and this thing is dead in 4 days.
Motion sensors like others have stated are not sensitive enough. The unit most often recorded us pulling in or out of our driveway, and I can show video how it is starting to record when the car is half in the garage already, and that is after I sat in the driveway waiting for the door to go up!
Also beware Ring charges $30 a year for cloud storage PER DEVICE, so my doorbell and 2 cameras are $100 per year!
I am considering Arlo right now as they provide 7 days of free cloud storage, and the battery couldn't be any worse.
Yes Arlo is missing the audio feature, and I would need to hard wire the power just like I would need to with Ring as i bet battery life will be equally poor.

I bought this yesterday and set it up to watch my back door/yard. I've had it less than 24 hours and have already experienced the following major issues:
- There is a horrible lag from the time there is actual motion until the camera starts recording. It doesn't catch people until they are basically right at/under the camera. My whole reasoning for purchasing this camera was to record (catch) people walking in my back yard/parking area and this issue defeats that purpose. (And I have it set to the highest sensitivity, all zones active, 30' recording distance.)
- It does not record a 30' distance as it states. I am barely triggering it when on top of it.
- The iPhone app/video recording is extremely glitchy. The videos are freezing when it's recording motion and during live video sessions.Sometimes it will record up to 20 seconds w/o freezing and other times, I barely get 5 seconds in before the video is frozen.
- Battery life is awful. It says battery life can last 6 months. I had it on and was playing with it for an hour or so and in that time, I went from 100% to 70%. Again, that was in a matter of just an hour during set up.
I wanted to love this product. I really did! The quality just isn't there and for $199.99, I expected it to function as it advertised. And before asking, I have ridiculously fast XFinity high speed internet service. I will be returning to BestBuy today and looking at other more reliable options.

Hi LoyalBestBuyCustomer,
Thank you for sharing your feedback and I am sorry to hear about your poor experience with Ring. I'd like to connect with you today to address /resolve these issues you mention in the above review. The motion detector does require a bit of maneuvering to find the right spot and battery life is contingent on usage so the volume of alerts you receive per day will affect it but we can provide optimal settings to conserve your battery for you. I see that you noted having a fast internet connection. Do you happen to know what your upload speed is? You can check by visiting www.bandwidthplace.com on your cell phone, and running a speed test right next to where your Stick up Cam is installed. We also recommend running a speed test right next to your router, and comparing the two speeds. Sometimes, even with high internet speeds, the connection isn't as strong at the front/back of the house. We recommend installing a WiFi extender if that's the case. If you reach out to me at [email protected], I can assist you with making sure we get your Stick up Cam up and running to your expectations in hopes to keep you a part of the Ring family. I look forward to hearing from you!

I was enticed to buy this product largely due to the claimed battery life of six months. Battery life turned out to actually be 6 days
Picture quality is poor - very blocky not really HD, regardless of signal strength or bandwidth being used
Seems to take a long time to wake up and start recording...typically , for example, the dog appears on the other side of the image from where he must logically have entered it...even when ambling
No capability to set times of motion detection
Infra red images only distinguishable for about a 10 ft radius.
Basically a poor choice

I would absolutely not recommend these cameras to anyone! I purchased a doorbell pro and 2 stick up cams 5 months ago from Best Buy and after the first 30 days of horrible issues I attempted to return them. Best Buy has a 15 day return policy!! Really? So I contacted Ring and they said they have to troubleshoot first. As of now, 5 months later, they are still trouble shooting. In their troubleshooting process I have had my entire house rewired from my internet provider, my internet upgraded, a new upgraded modem and a new wi fi router ($600 more).
What am I left with? My outside cam, which has completely stopped working all together, can’t be more than 5’ from the room with the wi fi. The doorbell pro most of the time won’t pick up the motions it’s set for, and my other camera, set on the lowest setting, seems like it is picking up flies flying and is constantly turning on. So after $1200 into this process and 5 months I have one paperweight, one I charge all the time because it picks up everything, and one that works at random times.
Service still wants to troubleshoot. I guess I can’t blame them, I wouldn’t want these back either.
