The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Stick Up Cam (2nd Gen) features advanced motion detection, 1080p full HD resolution, night vision, two-way audio, HD video recording, and a wide viewing angle. Delayed notifications are usually signal-related. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. It’s also important for your phone to have a good internet connection, otherwise notifications could be delayed.
We have included the steps here for checking your device's signal strength:
Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
Tap Devices.
Tap the individual device that you want to check.
Tap on the Device Health tile.
Scroll to Signal Strength under the Network section.
The green, amber, red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good, red is poor.

We understand how important it is to have our security devices working correctly. The Ring Stick Up Cam is intended to deliver accurate motion detection and timely Ring alerts. This way, you can rely on it to know who is at your home. Please know we hear your concern and are here to help.

In order to function optimally, this device should be mounted at 9 feet off of the ground. This allows the motion sensors to work as intended and provides a great field of view. To learn how you can further optimize the placement of your camera, please reference the article below.

Along with this, we've recently released an update which brings an improved motion detection method to your Stick Up Camera. Customizable Motion Zones will allow you to draw different shapes that are more dynamic than Adjustable Motion Zones. You can add up to three different Motion Zones. The following steps will walk you through setting up a Customizable Motion Zone on your device:

* Please launch the Ring app.
* Tap the three lines on the top left of the screen.
* Tap Devices.
* Select your Stick Up Camera.
* Once you’re on the screen with the image of your device, tap Motion Settings.
* Then tap Advanced Settings, then on Advanced Motion Detection. Enable this feature.
* Return to the Motion Settings page.
* Tap on 'Edit Motion Zones' and draw your zones. Make sure you save your settings.
* Use the slider to adjust motion sensitivity from minimum to maximum sensitivity.

Once you've made the above changes, you should notice a significant improvement in the delivery of your motion notifications. You can also reboot your router, which refreshes its internet connection and is known to speed up notifications as well.

We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The Ring Protect Plan provides valuable capabilities, such as accessing paid features and the ability to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Motion Zones allow you to select a specific area that you want your Ring cam to cover and greatly increase the effectiveness of your Ring device. Visit the Ring app and select the device you'd like to configure the motion detection settings for and then tap Motion Settings. Tap on the zones that you'd like to receive alerts for, then adjust the slider. Make sure that the zones you'd like enabled turn blue and say 'On' before clicking Save. When selecting your motion zones, note the potential paths people take to approach and reselect your motion zones to exclude areas where you very rarely see people such as behind locked gates, hedges, or walls.
