Ring knows the importance of having the motion detection work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who or what may be near your home.
Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want see while ignoring everything outside that area. By drawing your Motion Zones to exclude frequently accessed areas such as public paths and roads, you can reduce the number of "false positive" motion alerts (such as cars driving by) and greatly increase the effectiveness of your Ring device.

I purchased two battery operated cameras which are terrible. The battery is supposed to last 2-3 months; however I had to replace the battery in the front of the house at 3 weeks when the usage was about 25%. The replacement battery only charged to 97%. The very next day, the battery was already at 83%. The outdoor camera constantly record moving vehicles but not people. On many occasions the camera did not record people walking directly in front of my house. If it does record someone, that person is already at the end of my property. The camera would not have recorded any damage that person would have done. What is the purpose of having the camera if it does not record people on your property? When the camera does record something the clips are extremely short. The camera does not allow you to just receive notifications for people only. You will receive notifications for everything. The only reason I have not returned these cameras is because I don’t want additional holes drilled into my exterior brick walls until I can find some outdoor cameras that actually work.

It sounds like you have some concerns with the battery life and motion detection of your device. The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery offers advanced motion detection with customizable motion zones. Camera Motion Zones can help you detect motion in the areas that matter the most to you and reduce the number of "false" motion alerts (such as cars driving by). By drawing your camera's motion zones to exclude high-traffic areas like public paths and roads, you can increase your Ring device's effectiveness. Follow these tips to optimize your camera's motion zones:
Make your Ring device's view as clear as possible. Motion detection can sometimes trigger "false" alerts because of moving trees, lightning, the rising or setting sun, reflections off a shiny object, headlights, shadows, and more. To reduce false alerts, adjust your motion zones, remove shiny objects, cut back tree branches that create moving shadows, or angle your device to avoid the sun.
Look for high-traffic areas. Note any high-traffic areas, such as busy streets or sidewalks. If you receive too many motion alerts from your Ring device, you can adjust your motion zones to exclude these areas.
Exclude areas you don’t need to monitor. Note the potential paths people take to approach your device. Then redraw your motion zones to exclude areas where you rarely see people, such as behind locked gates, hedges, or walls.
If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. To prevent excessive activity, under Motion Settings for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your Motion Sensitivity slider to a lower sensitivity
Redraw your Customizable Motion Zones
Change Motion Frequency to regularly or periodically
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

Poor communication and follow up by consultant after repeated requests to start job. Then there were massive delays on install day because apparently the original install crew got robbed of their tools. I had to reschedule because another crew would not arrive until 7 or 8pm to my elderly mother's home to install. No way. I had no choice but to cancel that day and reschedule. Numerous calls and hours later to different departments to track my order and reschedule. Then inexplicably, Geek Squad sends another install crew without the cameras. I had to reschedule again, many calls tracking my order again, almost seems like I was an employee heavily involved in the coordination of my own order. I thought Geek Squad was supposed to be the gold standard. Cameras were eventually installed after about 2 weeks of delays, calls, tracking down and sheer determination on my part. With the exception of the final crew that came it seems almost everyone one at Geek Squad seemed uncoordinated on my project. Plus one of the camera brackets on the wall is now loose and needs to be reinstalled. While I'm happy the cameras are finally in the experience getting there has been less than stellar. I really expected a more professional experience from the Geeks.
