Poor connection. Doesn’t work 1 foot away from the door outside, which is the same distance it would be from the router to my bedroom. Waste of money on this one. Also requires a subscription to record past events.

      Hi Hannah.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal on the Ring Stick Up Cam. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like you experienced some connection issues with the device. Usually, devices falling offline repeatedly is related to poor WiFi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.

To determine whether or not the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In edition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance.

A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.

We also recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network. The Ring Chime Pro simply plugs into a wall outlet between your router and the Ring Stick Up Cam to assist with the wifi signal strength to the device.

If you still have the Ring Stick Up Cam in your possession, we invite you to reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback and experiences with Ring. We look forward to hearing from you. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

      Thank you,
      Melissa from Ring. Ring

It would be a great product if the focus on the camera was quicker. When it finally does it's GREAT. but I miss the first.4 seconds of ever video cuz it's too blurry to see. Oh and the camera is 3 feet away from my router and when I use the camera it's the only thing online aty apartment cuz I live alone and all my.other wifi using products are powered off. Maybe avoid this. Actually let me change that THESE STINK

      Hi TimothyJ.

Thank you for sharing this feedback with us.

We understand how important it is for your Ring Stick Up Cam Battery to provide clear video, so you are able to view any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like you're experiencing less than optimal video quality. Poor wifi signal strength from your router could be the culprit behind your video problems. We recommend testing your signal strength and analyzing the video.

If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.

If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.

If there is a long delay before your video starts, this is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Then see if there's any difference when it's back on line.

      Hi ElizabethR.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how critical it is for your Ring Stick Up Cam to notify you of meaningful motion events so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Stick Up Cam is Ring's leading indoor and outdoor-ready security camera with flexible mounting options, 1080p HD Video, Color Night Vision, Remote-activated siren, and 2.4GHz Wifi Connectivity. We recommend enabling Rich Notifications for an enhanced experience with alerts. Rich Notifications send you a snapshot image of what’s happening in front of your Ring security camera or video doorbell so you can easily see what’s going on without needing to open the Ring app. They are included in your Ring Protect subscription.

You may need to update your mobile device's operating system and download the latest version of the Ring app to access the latest in-app features.

Rich Notifications are snapshot images that appear with your camera or doorbell notifications that can show you a preview of your event video. With a quick look at your notification, you can know immediately if you need to open up Live View to take a closer look, or if you’d rather wait and review your video later.

When a Rich Notification appears, you can expand the notifications to zoom in and see a bigger version of the image. The process of expanding the image is a little different for iOS and Android.

On iOS, tap and hold the thumbnail to open up the full-frame snapshot.
Having trouble? Try toggling off Low Data Mode within your Apple device's settings.
On Android, drag down the thumbnail to open up the full-frame snapshot.
Having trouble? Try toggling on Background Data for Android within your Android device's settings.
In some cases, in order to ensure you receive notifications as fast as possible, you may receive multiple notifications. A regular notification to your smartphone will be sent as soon as possible and then that notification will be updated with an image. Rich Notification snapshots are available on your phone until your notification is dismissed. We do not store Rich Notification snapshots in the Ring app. If your phone has a poor connection, we store the snapshot in the cloud for up to four minutes so that we can deliver it to you as soon as you are back online. In some cases of poor connection, you may not receive Rich Notifications.
You can toggle Rich Notifications on or off by doing the following:
      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
      Tap Device.
      Select a device.
      Tap the Device Settings tile.
      Tap Notification Settings.
      Tap Rich Notifications.
Toggle on or off to update your Rich Notifications settings.
Rich Notifications work on devices that are subscribed to an active Ring Protect plan or a trial.

      Hi Rick.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Stick Up Cam so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you have some concerns with the solar panel connected to your Ring Stick Up Cam. Ring solar devices require 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. If the weather is cloudy or you get a lot of snow, this would limit the hours of direct sunlight your device is receiving, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures can also cause excessive drain to your lithium-ion battery. If your battery life is still relatively short even with plenty of direct sunlight, motion events are probably draining the power. Try adjusting your motion sensitivity slider and optimizing your motion frequency.

I've personally had better luck using an app that allows me to use cell phones as cameras. It's free and compatible with Google home. While my broken cam was replaced for free, I'm still frustrated with it's constant going offline and constant alerts.

It's ok remember because it's battery operated feathers are a little less. Compare to a wired ring camera overall a good camera if you don't mind charging the battery and that depends how much it gets used.

It’s cool and good when it wants to work. I can only access live view about 25% of the time, the rest of the time it’s saying “streaming error” then I have to reset my router when I get home to get live view to work again. I have no issues with any other wifi device in my home. But kind of disappointed with this product due to inconsistency with the live view feature. Don’t you want to temporarily check up on your home when you’re on vacation? That’s the whole purpose of this product. Falls short in my book

      Hello Brandon,

When you’re having trouble receiving notifications or seeing a Live View, or a recorded video, this might mean there’s a problem in the data transfer. As a result, communication between your mobile device and your Stick Up Cam can be impacted. This could mean your Ring app is unable to show you a Live View or display a video recording from your Ring Stick Up. You might see a message that says Activating Device, but the camera eventually times out.

Please check the device health section of your Ring application for the signal strength of your Ring Stick Up Cam. If your signal is poor or very poor, you may experience delays and poor connectivity. A poor signal can be caused by the distance between the router and your Ring device, the layout of your home, or interference caused by other devices (TV's, game systems, etc.) or materials in your home such as stucco, brick, metal, large mirrors or glass doors.

Please reach out to us directly via our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ so we can find a solution to best resolve this and ensure the device is functioning as it was intended.

      Thank you,
      Antonio from Ring Ring
