      Hello Daniel

We do notify our customers about the optional Ring Protect Plan here, on our website, in your Ring App during the free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in an email after a successful setup of a Ring device. While subscribed to one of our Protect Plans, it allows you to access your recordings as well as other features. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to the live view feature.

Ring support is not available for support, so 1 star. The solar panel charges the battery, but the firmware doesn't recognize the panel and wont enable the extra settings. The camera works, but I would tell anyone shopping for them not to buy until Ring works out the bugs.

      Hello Ink220,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Stick Up Camera experience with us. What you describe isn't what we want you to encounter, and can assure you that we are here to help. You should be able to enjoy the peace of mind that Ring Stick Up Cam is designed to add to your home security. We completely understand the relevance of having your device online and connect to your wifi network, as this ensures you can access the camera to check on activity around your home anytime day or night.

Although they are rare, disconnects can occur and can usually be traced back to nearby interference or underlying network issues. Both of which are easily resolved with a few changes. A common solution to most network related problems is creating a guest network. You could then pair the Ring Stick Up Cam to the guest network to ensure the device remains online. Another thing to consider is wifi interference caused by a nearby object or material. Things such as brick, metal, stucco etc. can diminish a wifi signal as it reaches your camera. Do you happen to have your camera mounted on any of these surfaces? Additionally, network and environmental interference can contribute to the camera's ability to stream live video.

Our priority is ensuring you to have a device you can rely on to keep you connected to activity around your home. Please check out our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support.

In pursuit of our mission to make neighborhoods safer, when applying technologies to our business, we always consider our three pillars of customer security, privacy, and user control. We understand how important it is to have your devices working as intended, as it offers a level of security in your home.

Based on your review, it seems that you are not fully satisfied with your Ring Stickup Camera picking up the correct motion and keeping a charge. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773

Also, the Stick Up Cam uses infrared motion capturing to detect motion within its field of view. You can use the Ring app to determine the Stick Up Cam’s motion detection range and the specific zones where motion will trigger a smart alert. These settings help ensure that the Stick Up Cam will capture the events you want to see and ignore the ones you don’t. Here is a helpful article with more information on how to resolve motion concerns with your device: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213106363-How-to-Set-Up-Motion-Detection-for-Your-Stick-Up-Cam.

      Hi WilliamM.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Stick Up Cam Battery device right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can get your device up and running as intended.

It sounds like your device is failing to find the temporary "Ring-" wifi network. The temporary wifi network called "Ring-" is broadcast by your device during setup. If you're having trouble finding this network, you should restart the setup procedure. When you get to this step, look for a slowly pulsing light on your device. This means the device is broadcasting the network. Now, try the setup process again. If you don't see this light, you may have a malfunctioning unit.

I ordered this and it was bundled with an Amazon Echo Dot and also added the protection policy. For some reason the camera went to my old work address while the rest of the items show my home address where they are supposed to be delivered. Now I have to coordinate picking it up at an office closed due to COVID across town. No idea how this could have happened. Very disappointed.

      Hi RandyS.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with us.

We understand how important it is for your Ring Stick-Up Cam to work consistently and reliably. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick-Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are eager to assist you and are confident we can get your devices working as intended.

It sounds like your device is not responsive. It is possible that your device has fallen offline. If your Ring device gets disconnected from wifi by network or battery error, you'll see a red icon on your Device Dashboard in the Ring app, letting you know your device needs attention.

Tap the red icon and follow the instructions on the error screen to help you troubleshoot your issue. You'll see an error code with alphanumeric characters (i.e., P1-65, P1-67, P5-01), along with suggestions of Things to Check and Things to Try.

First, try recharging the battery of your Ring device or swapping in a charged battery pack. Then you will want to make sure your Ring device has the most updated wifi network and password. Then check other devices around your home to see if they’re connected or disconnected to wifi. You may need to reboot your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in again. Visit our support center if additional troubleshooting is needed.

      Hi RodneyD.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Stick Up Cam so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Stick Up Cam, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We can definitely assist you with this today to ensure your Ring device is performing optimally, and the proper settings are chosen within the Ring app.

It sounds like the device is not performing as intended in regards to battery life. Thank you for taking the time to work with our customer support agents toward a resolution to your concern. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.

To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:

Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
      Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.

To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:

Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
      Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras may experience several issues, including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:

36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.

When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Stick Up Cam, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Thank you for being the best part of Ring! Have a wonderful day!

We understand how important it is to have your devices working as intended, as it offers a level of security in your home. After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Stickup Camera is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest-working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below: Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off). If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them. Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in. Wait for your internet to be restored. That one-time verification code must be entered within 10 minutes of the time you request it. You must do this for any device that you used to log into your account. The one-time verification code helps verify that the person trying to log into your account is actually you. This is the worst service I ever received in my entire life. I paid the money to install security cameras and Mesh. The for bell Ring is still not operating until now, The mesh system gets hot every couple days and needs to be rebooted. I have called the person who made the deal for me, she never responded after, many messages and phone calls

      Hi BrendaS.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

We understand the importance of having full control over your Ring account and devices. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you have some concerns regarding the privacy of your Ring account. At the core of Ring, and guiding every action we take, is respect for the privacy and security of our neighbors (what we call our customers). This includes giving our neighbors effective, easy-to-use, and affordable products and services to help protect their homes. It also means taking extremely seriously the privacy, security, and control of their devices and personal information.

We have taken measures to help secure Ring devices from unauthorized access. These measures include restricting the installation of third-party applications on the device, rigorous security reviews, software security development requirements, and encryption of communication between Ring devices with services such as AWS cloud storage services. Ring secures video recordings in transit and videos stored in the cloud on AWS servers. We use a combination of AES encryption (Advanced Encryption Standard) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) to secure data between Ring devices and AWS, and we encrypt data between Ring devices using AES encryption, TLS, and SRTP (Secure Real Time Protocol).

Ring also provides customers with control over who’s able to see and access their videos, devices, and personal information. You can add shared users to your account, who will then be able to view and download video recordings on the account. You can also share video recordings via text or email by creating a share link to the recording. After a share link has been created, the video recording may be viewed and downloaded by anyone with the share link ID. Additionally, you can make your videos publicly available by posting them on the Internet (including by posting them to the public social media app Neighbors by Ring).

We are not happy with this product. The battery seems to lose its charge far too often. Thus, we are constantly seeking someone to climb the ladder to get the battery so that it can be recharged. The solar panel that we bought doesn't help.

Hi there. If you are experiencing significant battery loss even with a Solar Panel, you may need to adjust your Motion Settings. If your device is detecting excessive motions, the battery will drain quicker. Keep in mind, battery drain also happens faster in the cold. If you have any further questions or concerns, try browsing the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/. As our first peer-to-peer forum, the Ring Community allows you to ask questions and interact with other neighbors to discuss your Ring devices. Best wishes, David with Ring. Ring

      Hi MarieA.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of having your Ring Stick Up Cam Battery hold a charge so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Stick Up Cam, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are eager to address the concern you raised in your review and ensure your device is performing as intended.

It sounds like the battery in your device is draining faster than expected. The rechargeable battery in your Ring Stick Up Cam can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured.

The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using Live View often can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.

To prevent excessive activity, under Motion Settings for your device in the Ring app, you can:

Adjust your motion sensitivity slider to a lower sensitivity.
      Redraw your customizable motion zones.
Change the motion frequency to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

Visit our support center for more information.
