Hi rokutv. Capturing what's going on around your home is an essential feature of your Stick Up Cam, and I'm happy to help. If you find that your Stick Up Cam isn't detecting motion, you may need to adjust the Motion Settings until you find what works best for your setup. This includes adjusting the Motion Sensitivity and the Motion Zones to suit the area you want your Stick Up Cam to monitor. You can find more information on how motion detection works in Ring devices in our Help Center article here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042728431-Advanced-Motion-Detection-in-Ring-Devices. Hi AnalizaB. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we want to ensure that you have the best possible experience with our products. Your peace of mind and security are extremely important to us. You should be able to enjoy the peace of mind that the Ring Stick up Cam is designed to add to your home security. Please know we are here to help find a solution. It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the device with regard to power. If you have charged the battery completely and the device is still not powering on, hold the setup button for 20 seconds. Additionally, battery life for Ring devices might be impacted by cold weather. Knowing at what temperature, batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to: At 36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently. At 32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery. At -5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up. When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges. Make sure your battery is charged to 100%: When charging your battery, make sure it reaches 100% before you remount the device. While the battery still won't be as effective as when the temperatures are warmer, making sure that the battery is at 100% will allow your device to work as long as possible.
Monitor your charge and the temperature: As long as the temperature hovers around the points listed above, you may have issues with battery charge. Therefore, it's important to constantly monitor your battery life when it gets cold to make sure your device is always working. If the battery is too hot or too cold, on-board software will keep it from charging in order to avoid damaging the battery. Bring the battery inside your home and allow it to change to room temperature before trying to recharge the battery. If you have performed all the troubleshooting, and you are still experiencing an issue, please reach out to Ring Customer Support by clicking this link: https://ring.com/support/contact-us. Hi TinaB.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Stick Up Cam to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. We are eager to provide you with a solution for your battery life concern.

It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. Be sure to fully charge the battery before inserting it into the camera. Plug it into a power source using the provided USB cable. Once the battery’s fully charged, only one light on top will glow green. Slide the battery back into the camera until it clicks into place. Twist the battery compartment cover clockwise to lock it and tighten the security screw.

The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.

To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:

Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
      Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.

To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:

Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
      Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Stick Up Cam, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Thank you for being the best part of Ring! Have a wonderful day!

      Hi Rray,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Stick Up Cam experience with us. This is our next-generation security camera that can be used both indoors and outdoors to bolster the security around your home. The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery features 1080p full HD resolution, night vision, two-way audio, HD video recording, and a wide viewing angle with multiple power options.

We agree that getting the most life from your Ring battery is essential, so that it can provide you with round the clock coverage. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring camera, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring devices are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges.

We'd like to connect you with our Ring specialist, so they may provide you a solution to help optimize the battery life. Please reach out to us today at amazon.advocates@ring.com.

      Danielle from Ring

      Hi jrrican.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is to have your Ring Stick Up Cam capture all the correct motion events. The Ring Stick Up Cam was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to person detection. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."

Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
      Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
      Tap "Motion Settings."
      Tap "Smart Alerts."
      Tap "Enable Feature."
      Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.

      Hello Shell,

We are thankful for your feedback regarding your experience with the Ring Stickup Camera. We are constantly pushing ourselves to develop products to empower users with an affordable, effective way to monitor and secure their home. In pursuit of our mission to make neighborhoods safer, when applying technologies to our business, we always consider our three pillars of customer security, privacy, and user control. We understand how important it is to have your devices working as intended, as it offers a level of security in your home. After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Stickup Camera is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest-working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below: Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off). If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them. Hi Rizzo.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of a seamless setup process and a long-lasting battery in your Ring Stick Up Cam. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Stick Up Cam, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the battery life concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the battery in your device is draining more quickly than expected. The rechargeable battery can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured.

If your device is capturing an excessive number of events per day, you will likely need to recharge your battery sooner. Using Live View often can also drain your battery faster.

To prevent excessive activity notifications, adjust your Motion Settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change Motion Frequency to Regularly or Periodically, or adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

Visit our support center for more information and tips to ensure you are getting the most out of your device's battery life.

Ring Community was established to assist in providing our neighbors with the most recent news and instructional material.
