Not designed for an apartment.

Otherwise it's amazing!

We typically advise against facing your Ring Stick Up Cam through a window or at any reflective surfaces, as this will negatively impact the motion detection. This is the first we have had and I am having a little trouble setting it just right. I wish there was a phone number to call to trouble shoot.

The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick-Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are not receiving motion alerts from your device. If you have stopped receiving alerts, check that motion detection and motion alerts are toggled on.
In the Ring app, tap menu (≡), tap Devices, and go to your device dashboard and make sure Motion Detection and Motion Alerts are toggled on.
Verify your camera is picking up motion.
Review your event history on your dashboard to ensure there’s a record of a motion event. If there is no record, your device didn’t capture a motion event.
Double-check your motion settings.
Ensure your motion zones are correctly drawn and that the motion sensitivity slider is turned up.
Make sure your device is connected to wifi in the Device Health section of the Ring app.
Make sure you haven’t set a motion schedule.
In the Ring app, you will see a clock icon next to your Ring device on the main dashboard if there is an active motion schedule.
Make sure you haven’t turned on Motion Snooze.
In the Ring app, you will see a crescent moon icon next to your Ring device on the main dashboard if Motion Snooze is active.

It works but I think the entire Ring line is just really basic and over priced. Video quality could be better especially at zoomed levels. And the night time video quality is nowhere near what it should be.

The Night Vision feature is an invaluable feature of the Ring Outdoor Cam that allows you to clearly view what’s happening on your property after dark. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can find the correct settings for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to "Night Vision." To ensure that the "Night Vision" feature works as intended, make sure your Cam’s infrared light is toggled on in the Ring app. The infrared light control is in your Ring app under Video Settings. Enable "Color Night Vision" in the Ring app to help improve clarity at night.
To turn the "Color Night Vision" on or off, follow these instructions:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the "Menu" (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Select the device you want to adjust.
Tap "Device Settings."
Tap "Video Settings."
Toggle "Color Night Vision" on or off.
Although rare, there have been instances where a Ring device can experience black, pink, and other distorted video quality, like night vision video captured during daytime hours. Here are a few things to try.
Check your Ring device's signal strength.
If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection or video issues.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the "Menu" (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Select the Ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the "Device Health" tile.
Scroll to "Signal Strength" under the "Network" section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Reboot your Ring Outdoor Cam in the Ring app.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the "Menu" (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Select the device that you wish to reboot.
Tap on the "Device Health" tile.
Scroll down to "Reboot This Device."
Give your device a few moments to start back up.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:

Battery powered version misses events

I thought we weren't getting many motion notifications and seemed to be missing events so I put one of our wired ones next to it to compare. The battery one misses a lot of events, probably because it isn't as active because of being battery powered, even though we had it set to high frequency motion detection. I am going to return it to go with another wired version that we love.

Great Buy

However, they are only 1 month old. The clarity is great, positioning is very simple and distance is really good. I am very pleased with this purchase and hope that in two years I still feel the same way.

We bought one and loved it in the apt to watch the dogs. After recent events at our community we now have one at each entry door and bought and outdoor one to install and installed the ring door bell. We are happy and have a sense of security again. Reason for one star deduction is the app is a little glitchy
