It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. For optimal performance of the Ring device in low light settings, we recommend using the night vision feature. To turn the "Color Night Vision" on or off, follow these instructions:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the "Menu" (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Select the device you want to adjust.
Tap "Device Settings."
Tap "Video Settings."
Toggle "Color Night Vision" on or off.

Although rare, there have been instances where a Ring device can experience black, pink, and other distorted video quality, like night vision video captured during daytime hours. Here are a few things to try.

Check your Ring device's signal strength.
If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection or video issues.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the "Menu" (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Select the Ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the "Device Health" tile.
Scroll to "Signal Strength" under the "Network" section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.

Reboot your Ring Outdoor Cam in the Ring app.

Open the Ring app.
Tap the "Menu" (☰).
Tap "Devices."
Select the device that you wish to reboot.
Tap on the "Device Health" tile.
Scroll down to "Reboot This Device."
Give your device a few moments to start back up.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Stick Up Cam (2nd Gen) features advanced motion detection, 1080p full HD resolution, night vision, two-way audio, HD video recording, and a wide viewing angle. Delayed notifications are usually signal-related. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. It’s also important for your phone to have a good internet connection, otherwise notifications could be delayed.
We have included the steps here for checking your device's signal strength:
Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
Tap Devices.
Tap the individual device that you want to check.
Tap on the Device Health tile.
Scroll to Signal Strength under the Network section.

Motion Zones allow you to select a specific area that you want your Ring cam to cover and greatly increase the effectiveness of your Ring device. Visit the Ring app and select the device you'd like to configure the motion detection settings for and then tap Motion Settings. Tap on the zones that you'd like to receive alerts for, then adjust the slider. Make sure that the zones you'd like enabled turn blue and say 'On' before clicking Save. When selecting your motion zones, note the potential paths people take to approach and reselect your motion zones to exclude areas where you very rarely see people such as behind locked gates, hedges, or walls.
