Have the camera installed for 6+months now and it has been working great! Bought the wired one to plug directly into outside outlet and it has not failed me yet unless power outage. Great Camera for the price. Easily sensors and detects even the slightest wind and send notifications.

These have been easy to use - easy to set up and video quality is great. I have tried many other brands and Ring is by far much better than the others.

For the price it works great and let me tell you Is better to have this wired version vs. The battery one. Works great never had a problem with it. Sometimes it disconnects from wifi like anything else, just hook it back up. But it catches useful footage

I recently installed this on my garage facing the driveway where my cars are usually parked and I couldn't be happier! The picture quality is amazing and even has night vision with sound! Very easy to install as well and got it on sale with a bonus Amazon echo dot speaker included with my purchase!

Great clear video. I like this over the doorbell at the moment. You can sink both devices together when one picks up motion. Awesome night vision mode. I use this to monitor my driveway. Easy to install just like the rest of the ring devices.

Wired stick up camera is great! I find it very preferable to the battery operated one because I kept forgetting (or was too lazy to) charge the battery every few weeks. What I did NOT realize is that the “wired” cam is identical to the “battery” stick up cam, the only difference being the wired one comes with the cord, and the battery one comes with a battery. I ended up returning the wired one because I realized I only needed to buy a cord to convert the battery one I already had….

We use it for outdoor. Very good color video. Night video is adequate. Motion detection is quite sensitive. Very reliable as we get notifications constantly for every little motion. Good value for the quality.

Works well and I have clear images day and night. I have it facing outside inside a window and the blue light seems to deter some people to think twice. There has been a lot of car break ins lately, as well as people soliciting with bad intent. and this camera has aided in helping myself as well as my neighbors. The mode settings and set up allows me to capture the area I want that the human eye can not see in the dark. I feel better since I have had this camera. I recommend giving it a try it is affordable and worth it.

The picture quality, even at night, is excellent. Lots of false alarms though. If you have a rocking chair it will set it off as "people" if it rocks in the wind. If a moth or wasp flys by (close to the cam) it will notify you as well. 95% of the notifications are non -human. We live in the country thus numerous issues with moths at night. Interesting to see that wildlife like feral cats and skunks are looking in our windows at night. However, I guess that is to be expected. We chose to install it with the cord which was fortunately very long since it is installed outside, then drill through the exterior wall, then run to the nearest outlet. I would not trust batteries if installed in a northern state during the winter.

Brand response from Ring
Posted .
Hi Sven.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having your Ring Outdoor Cam(Formerly known as the Ring Stick Up Cam) detect motion and alert you according to your needs. The features and technology provided by the Ring Ring Outdoor Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can find the correct settings for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your device is not detecting motion as expected. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. If you do not wish to receive notifications for motion events, simply toggle off the "Motion Alerts" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is picking up too much motion, we recommend lowering the "Motion Sensitivity" under the "Motion Settings" tab. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This also includes changing the "Motion Frequency" to "Regularly" or "Periodically" in the Ring app.
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts", please follow these steps: Tap the menu (≡) on the top left. Tap "Devices." Tap the device that you want to adjust. Tap "Motion Settings." Tap "Smart Alerts." Tap "Enable Feature." Tap "Continue." Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion." You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications. After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

The camera is easy to put up and connect. The battery doesnt last very long, definitely need a back up battery or solar charger. Compared to other systems we’ve tried, this is the best one.

I purchased two of these cameras and so far I have only installed one in the garage. The video quality is awesome both with light and in the dark (through its infrared feature).
The default detection sensitivity was not set high enough and it was missing some movement so I increased it and now it's working.
In the beginning it downloaded software updates so it went through restarts. At some point it lost my WiFi password so I had to re-configure it again. But since then, it's been working with no issues.

I have all battery cameras by Ring but decided to try one that plugged in. Works great easy to set up and picture is amazing. I was able to conceal camera on my front porch hoping that all those people that have extreme privacy issues to include our local substitute mailman will still be picked up so I know if I received mail or package and also know where to look for it. Hopefully this will work.. ALSO ESIER TO SET UP AND MOVE TO NEW LOCATION FASTER THAN BATTERY

I purchased these Cameras to replace a mixed bag of smart indoor / outdoor cameras. The Home Security Alarm System with Professional Monitoring is by Ring and was looking for something to integrate seamlessly. The existing system already has a smart video doorbell and various spotlight and floodlight security cameras doing a great job of covering the perimeter of the property.
The indoor cameras were a mixed bag of Smart Cameras from Alexa Cams and Wyze which are great, except when having to toggle between multiple different apps when notification alerts were sent to various devices starting becoming an inconvenience and the live view did not open well for those devices. After much research and making an investment in the Alarm System which works flawlessly, I decided to go with Ring to cover the indoor common area spaces and patio areas and I'm glad I did. Customizable Motion Alerts, especial Motion Scheduling sends us the alerts we want to see and filters out the noise that we can ignore. Such as I don't need to see or hear alerts notifications when we're home, but want the alerts at night and when away when it matters most. The image quality is excellent, although the image does not automatically go full screen on an iPhone 11 Pro Max, but will chalk it up to a future software release. Alert notifications come in on time and the live view opens up amingly fast when tapping on an alert from the lock screen or while you're in the app which is a nice improvement. I also like the fact that I can customize how the cameras behave when a motion is detected and this goes for all cameras, even the video doorbell.
I would do it again if I had to and go with Ring. They have the most reasonable pricing, customizable system you can build on starting small and growing into a more complex system without breaking your budget on monitoring costs. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I know other systems are out there, but for value, features, reliability, and scalability, Ring does a great job for us.

Hi recently purchased this along with a Ring Alarm system. The camera is well built and excellent picture quality. It also has the option of selecting specific zones for the camera to capture motion which is great. I am also very pleased with the response time of the camera from the time it detects motion until I can view a picture. It only takes a few seconds which is much better than any cameras I have used in the past. It also seamlessly integrates with the alarm system. I am very pleased with the Ring products and I am moving from Arlo cameras to the Ring cameras going forward.

I converted all of my old cameras to the Ring system. For $100 a year you can subscribe all of your cameras to the Ring cloud.
The 1080p is crystal clear. Voice quality is great. Super easy to set up. These provide a great piece of mind home and away from our home. The ring app is also easy to use and connects with our cameras very quickly. I also like the size of the cameras and the option to hang if I want to.
I do wish they had the option to pan though. I snagged two of these when they were on sale and scored some free echo dots. I’m happy!

I already have a ring doorbell so adding another ring camera was an easy decision. This camera is perfect for checking on property to monitor activity in the driveway. I purchased the wired version to avoid having to charge a battery. The cords that are included measure about 20ft in length which is long enough to reach outlets in garage. Set up and mounting directions are also easy to follow.
