That was disappointing, but it did its job well, so I gave Ring another chance. It is installed above my garage, in the center between the two doors. This one has a glaring flaw vs its predecessor. It consistently fails to detect vehicles pulling into the driveway. Pulling out? no problem. Squirrels? yes. But a 2-ton car pulling in? NO! The old one, in exactly the same location, did just fine. Other gripes: The old one had a wider field of view (150 degrees, now 130) so it could "see" more. It included the mounting bracket for hanging it under the eaves. That's an extra purchase for the new model. And the changed the power plug from a compact USB to a larger "barrel connector", so I had to drill a larger hole through the exterior wall to fish the new cable :( The picture is quite good when it detects motion, but it's unforgivable that it can't detect things coming straight at it. And yes, I've called support, added a Ring Chime Pro extender to improve the WiFi signal, and experimented with different viewing angles. No luck. This is my fourth Ring device, and I'm tech savvy. Ring, all you had to do was maintain the functionality of the previous version. This one is a disappointment. Can't recommend.

I am renting a house so I didn't want to mount anything on the outside of the property nor do I have the means to do so. The shipping was very fast.... so fast I can't make a claim because it's still showing as being shipped on my account. I received 3 packages. However one box the seal tape seal was broken and felt lighter than the other two. RED FLAG. when I slid open the box the camera and indoor plug were missing. I hate having to return items. anyway I set up the other two camera later in the evening because they refused to connect to my wifi for some reason. I wasn't too worried about it because we have a spotty connection in this area. Once the cameras were updated I was extremely disappointed. I had both cameras sitting on I windowsill and all it could capture was a reflection of itself and the window blinds behind it. I tried opening up the window and all it was able to see was the window screen unless I forced the camera against it. I wanted to use these for looking out the windows at night but it's just not possible. I really wanted these to work. Now I have to return them and hopefully find something better. May be good for you. Just doesn't fit my needs.

Based on your review, it seems like you are unable to use your Ring Stickup Camera behind a window. Windows generally block heat sources, which means when the Ring device uses PIR (Passive Infrared) to detect motion, the Ring device will not be able to detect the motion through a window. There are a couple of scenarios when this can happen:
During the day, your powered Ring device uses Advanced Motion Detection, which is when the camera looks for changes physically in the environment. The Ring device should be able to see through a window during the day.
At night, your powered Ring device still uses Advanced Motion Detection but also uses Passive Infrared (PIR) to verify the motion. Since windows block heat sources, your Ring device will not be able to accurately view or record through a window at night.
