What you describe is not the experience Ring intends for you to have. Rest assured, we hear you and are here to offer you some assistance.

The Stick Up Camera can be mounted anywhere indoors or out, it can sit on its own stand or be mounted to a wall or ceiling (with a special universal mount, sold separately), but works best when approximately five to seven feet off the ground. This device was intended to be a simple do-it-yourself type of installation, but we can understand why you may need, or want, some professional assistance. Thank you so much for showing interest in our products and desiring to have more information regarding the optional Ring Protect Plan subscription. We want to ensure that we can answer any questions you may have concerning how the Ring Protect Plans work and how to save/share your videos, when necessary.
Ring gives customers a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After the 30-days you can chose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan or not. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. We know how essential it is for the two-way audio to work properly on your Ring Stick Up Camera Wired, so you can speak with and hear whoever is at your door. Being able to speak with visitors is a valuable feature of this product. We want to work with you to make sure we get this feature working as it is intended.

It sounds like the sound on your device is not working properly. If you’ve been having audio and sound issues with your Ring app or your Ring device when you’re trying to use Live View, our troubleshooting steps should help you get your device and app back to normal. If you’re doing a live view, make sure that your audio settings are enabled. The microphone icon allows you to speak, and the speaker icon allows you to hear outside. When the icons are enabled, they will not have a slash through them. Visit our support center for additional tips and tricks to get the two-way audio working as intended.

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. The Ring Stick Up Indoor/Outdoor Wired Cam is designed to connect you to 1080p HD video consistently and reliably. We understand the importance of quality video, as this allows you to see who is visiting your home.

Poor video quality can sometimes be caused by a wifi issue. We recommend running a distance test in order to discover what video resolution you are receiving at your router, compared to how it performs when mounted. For the best results, please do the following:

1. Remove your Ring camera from its mounting location and bring it into the same room as your wifi router.
2. Be sure you've turned off your cellular data and connected to the same 2.4GHz wifi network as your Ring device.
3. Open your Ring app on your smart-phone or tablet.
4. Trigger a motion event or live view on your Ring camera.
5. Examine the resulting video.

If you find that the video quality is better, then we recommend improving the wifi signal to your Ring camera by connecting it to a wifi extender, such as the Ring Chime Pro. However, if you find that the video is still of poor quality, then you will want to address issues with your wifi speeds.

We take digital security and privacy seriously and are always evaluating and developing additional ways to provide users even more control and transparency over their Ring account. We’ve implemented mandatory two-step verification for all Ring users for an extra layer of security, and Ring users are now notified of any successful login to their account. Furthermore, we will continue to add more controls to the Control Center, as well, in an effort to give our users more transparency into their account’s privacy and security settings. Based on your review, it seems that you are not fully satisfied with your Ring Stickup Camera. If your device is not working as intended we recommend resetting your device. To reset your Stickup Camera press and hold the setup button for 10-15 seconds and release. Once the white light on the the device stops blinking proceed with the setup process. Based on your review, it seems that you may have not set up the two-factor authentication feature in your Ring App. Two-Step Verification means that you can only access your Ring account by providing another piece of information besides a password. The first time you try and access a Ring product on a new device (phone or PC), you will have to enter a second piece of information in addition to your password. This second piece of information is a randomly generated code that will be sent to your mobile phone. Enter the code, and you will have access to your account. This means that in the future, you will have more secure access to your Ring products.
