We would love the opportunity to share with you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your Ring Video Doorbell 3 functioning as intended. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."

I wish I had purchased one when they first came out. I also like the fact that you can connect with your Echo device. I am delighted with this product and will purchase the camera and light security system for my garage.

The only set back is that I feel like I get notified all the time even when a car just drives by. I have it set to person only mode, too. Oh well, better to have too much information than not enough.

Finally, a Best buy tech told me whick one to buy that would be wireless for a side door with no wiring! The front and back door have existing wiring, not my side door, why I needed the wireless, battery operated one!

While enjoyed the beach, I was still able to check on my house. Not sure how often to recharge the battery. We recently bought Ring cameras for inside the house. Highly recommend Ring products.

I purchased for me, my mom, and this one for my aunt. I got this one over the other models simply because u can control the zones the set off the camera and its hardwired. Love this thing and i would definitely recommend

The police have requested I check my video events for them on 3 separate occasions, one being a murder, and the camera caught nothing. It's not the motion settings as I've changed them NUMEROUS times in the past year and a half. Sesitivity and motion detection are at the highest setting possible and Smart Alerts and Advanced Motion Detection can be enabled/disabled, using the 'wizard' -doesn't matter. I've had all the settings maxed out to the point I was having to swap batteries every 24 hours or less and my device is hardwired as well. I walked right out the door this morning, passed by the doorbell, to my driveway and back and there's no capture. Nothing. I paid $320 for the doorbell and installation and $32 for an extra battery and really expected more.

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 can be adjusted to point in directions other than straight forward through the use of a wedge, or corner-piece.
If your door is above ground level with stairs leading up to it, this can cause your Ring Doorbell to miss visitors walking up your stairs and cause you to get motion alerts from passing traffic. The solution in this case is to once again use a wedge piece to lower the angle of your Ring Doorbell. I got the wires doorbell at first and it was so complicated so luckily we have this one and it works amazing. I would recommend buying a second battery to always have on hand so you don’t lose connection in between charges.

One thing I do want to point out is that you are require to pay for a plan to be able to see any past recordings, without the plan you can only see live view. Plans 3 per month not much just thought I’d share this for someone that is looking to purchase.

The downside is i hate how ring makes you buy a subscription if you want to look back at recordings. They do have a free trail though which is good. The camera quality for me is not all that great when looking far away but maybe it’s the wifi

The problem is that she receives all the alerts and I don't get any after uninstalling the app, starting from scratch, calling customer support, checking numerous time's in notifications and settings until I gave up! Ehh.
