We understand the importance of motion being detected consistently on your Video Doorbell 3. A device installed at the recommended height of 48 inches off the ground with customized zones can ensure proper motion detection. When creating your motion zones, note the potential paths people take to approach and draw your motion zones to exclude areas where you do not want the Ring device to monitor, such as busy streets or neighbor’s houses.
If a Motion Zone is not triggering alerts, it may be inactive. An inactive zone will have no “X” in the box labeled “Active,” and the Motion Zone will be grayed out. You must create at least one active motion zone or you will not receive any motion alerts. Tap on your Motion Zone again to get the “Active” box to reappear.
Motion Sensitivity slider: This slider will help you fine-tune what the Ring device looks for to trigger a motion event. The slider ranges from “People Only” to “All Activity.” The “People Only” option configures the motion sensors to look for human shapes, while All Activity is a great solution for anyone looking to capture as much as possible. If you set the Motion Sensitivity slider to “People Only,” the Ring device will look for the silhouette of a human - mainly the head and shoulders region. Please keep this in mind when drawing your Motion Zones.
